It's not going to end well I fear and that will draw another line through another season.

It seems Glory can never have nice things.

There are no findings. Just a couple of media stories which the club has refuted. How about we don't pre- judge and pre-empt with pointless speculation?

Exactly this. I think it is a lot of hot air at the moment.

ATO was after Sagey, remember when his offices were being raided and nothing came of it.
People fling shit on others all over the world.

Let's just enjoy being the best team in Australia for now and drink up for Christmas.

Merry Christmas all you Glory lads and lasses.

What can I say?

I'm conditioned to mediocrity after 10 seasons.

"Excellence" and "Glory" are two words not normally associated in the same sentence until this season, it would seem.

I'm as happy as a pig in shit ATM, but in the back of my mind there's that nagging doubt and then along comes this???

Think of me like a recovering alcoholic, it's very easy for me to relapse with any hint of doubt floating around the club.

The usual suspects on here has Sage going to Jail over the $90million tax fraud, He was going bust and Glory would be back in FFA hands.

What happened in the real world though was ATO and Cape Lambert settled for $2.4million

No idea but if Glory went over the Salary Cap with the squad that Edwards put together last season then the fraud squad should be doing raids down Cockburn way.

True dat.

But maybe there will be some issues about cars etc... So far, from the media reports I think that at least some of it will turn out to be ok.

Bt of course there will be a lot that isn't reported (on both sides).

That part they were fine with, then Bossi and Gorman started on the line that there have been undeclared payments and shenanigans in living arrangements.

The issue is not that we've been spending more than the salary cap in player wages, we haven't, it is that we are allegedly not reporting benefits offered to players (accommodation, transport) and that these benefits *may* need to be considered in the cap structure and if so (they may not be!) it could have ramifications for whether our cap spending was acceptable over many past seasons.

The move of Nebo and Thwaite to marquee positions I'm dubious about. I don't believe it sounds right, as alleged, that it was to avoid and end-of-season exceeding of the cap but rather to create room in the cap structure to strengthen squad depth over January should we decide to. We aren't in need of a marquee, but useful squad players are always worth looking at.

I do find it odd that it's Nebo and not Keogh though. Maybe Keogh's contract is heavily incentivised and/or back-loaded into next year.

Agree the marquee situation is strange. If we were already projected to overspend the cap and had to move Thwaite to Australian marquee, how were we in the market for Rukavytsya?

The rest of the stuff is just unproven allegation, allegedly fed by a disgruntled former employee (who I don't think is A. Edwards).

Europcar has been one of the club's major sponsors for a few years. Providing hire cars on loan to the club could be part of the deal, but there is no way that the value of the use of the car is $20k a year as was claimed by the journalists.

Until the FFA conducts its own investigation and makes proper findings it is all piss and wind, not smoke.

Like a lot of workplaces cars are used from time to time by lots of different employees.

They are sent out to schools, clubs, community clinics etc they take a company car. Doesn't mean it is with that employees 24/7.

Perth Glory's back-up goalkeeper Jack Duncan has been granted permission to trial with Danish high-flyer Randers FC next month as the youngster seeks to further his career in Europe.

Duncan, 21, is expected to spend a week in Denmark, starting on 10 January, as he chases a transfer window move to the club which lies third on the Danish Supliga ladder with the competition currently on its winter break until 2 February

The Olyroos gloveman, who made one first team start at Newcastle Jets aged only 18 before signing for Glory in 2013, made six starts for Kenny Lowe’s side at the back end of last season to fill in for No.1 Danny Vukovic when joined J-League side Vegalta Sendai on a short-term loan.

But Vukovic’s return saw Duncan revert to the bench for the A-League ladder leader and he is now keen to impress at the club which almost signed Socceroos gloveman Mat Ryan before he opted instead for Club Brugge last year.

With a year left on his Glory contract beyond this season, the former Young Socceroo, who has two Olyroos caps, is rated highly by many astute judges and showed his promise during Vukovic's stint in Japan.

Randers, which is looking to restock its goalkeeping ranks, finished third in the Superliga in 2013 while also runner-up in Danish Cup the same year. It currently sits nine points off league ladder FC Midtjylland.
http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2014/12/24/glory-keeper-duncan-aims-win-danish-deal

Good luck to him. I actually rate Thurtell more highly after watching him for the Young Socceroos a couple of months ago and Duncan is not likely to see first team action unless Vuka gets injured (which isn't very likely based on his career thus far - can't recall him missing a game injured since he has been at the Glory).

Harold and Garcia couldn't blow out a candle for the last 15 mins, we have Maclaren on the bench and Lowe eventually brings on Clisby. Obviously we are happy with point away from home?

2 points dropped. Maclaren, Keogh and Sidnei running at Kisnorbo on a yellow card ... Missed opportunity.

Great keeping from Vuka and another comically inept refereeing performance from Milliner.

The mind boggles as to what Maclaren has done to who to get hardly any game time.

Keogh and him work well together and with Sidnei would have cause havoc in the last 15 mins.

I have been thinking of this for a long time and there are many jokes about being a stallion in the bedroom or mrs Lowe reminding Kenny that Jamie is a man and should be playing, but could it be that Jamie doesn't put in much effort in training?

I'm thinking hard of why you wouldn't play a game winning player repeatedly.

Perth Glory owner Tony Sage slams allegations of salary cap irregularities

FURIOUS owner Tony Sage has slammed the allegations of salary cap irregularities aimed at Perth Glory, declaring the club is innocent of any wrongdoing.

Sage yesterday blamed a “disgruntled former employee” who he alleged had made claims to an eastern states newspaper on the eve of this week’s FFA Cup final in an attempt to cause the high-flying club “maximum damage’’.

Glory has endured a tumultuous week, with a series of stories alleging the club had provided perks to players such as accommodation and cars over several seasons that were not properly included in salary cap reports to Football Federation Australia.

FFA chief executive David Gallop and A-League boss Damien de Bohun will be at nib Stadium today for the W-League Grand Final, in a fascinating backdrop to the latest drama to engulf Glory.

Sage said the club had not breached the salary cap in any way and he was confident Glory would soon be cleared.

“We didn’t do anything wrong, so I’m 100 per cent positive (we will be cleared) because we did nothing wrong,’’ he said.

“I think the FFA will clear it all up in a few days.’

Sage claimed a Sydney newspaper had an “axe to grind” against him because of an unrelated legal battle.

“It’s bulls--t as far as we’re concerned,’’ he said.

“There is a campaign orchestrated by this individual and they have found an outlet that has an axe to grind against me personally. There’s no document in our offices ever showing what was in the newspaper, because they don’t exist.’’

The Sunday Times understands the allegations are being taken seriously by FFA and that the matter is unlikely to be resolved quickly.

A FFA spokesman confirmed yesterday the inquiry remained open.

“As of today (Saturday), FFA has not received a written response to the correspondence sent to Perth Glory about the club’s salary cap,’’ FFA said in a statement.

“This matter remains open and will be subject to the normal regulatory procedures governing the Hyundai A-League.”

A Glory spokesman said the club intended sending its response to FFA this week.

Separate allegations that the Glory squad’s player wages were over the salary cap in the early part of this season are understood to be regarded as a “non-issue’’ by FFA.

Despite Perth’s lack of transparency over the status of its marquee players this season, it is believed captain Michael Thwaite and Serbian midfielder Nebojsa Marinkovic are the club’s marquee players and are both being paid wages outside the $2.55 million salary cap.

While the pair had not been nominated as marquee players at the beginning of the season, this should not provide the club with any problem as long as its cap is in order on the required reporting dates.

Well hopefully they have formally responded by now and this can be cleared up. I hope Biscuitman and you guys are right about this. Sage sounds a bit, 'Typical Sage' when he's getting into the conspiratorial stuff('Campaign by an Individual out to get me'), but if he's somewhat right, then Glory have nothing to fear?!

Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC battling for Luke DeVere's signature

Perth Glory pair Jack Clisby and Brandon O'Neill are also sure to attract interest after seeing hardly any first-team action under Kenny Lowe this season. Despite being contracted, the pair may be granted a release, and Melbourne Heart and Central Coast have shown interest in the duo.

I just hope that, O'Neill especially, gets a few more chances before the end of the season. Been at the club so long, so well rated by a couple managerial regimes, including Lowe it seems, yet so sparingly used. We have the optimism with De Silva FINALLY seeing a break-out season with Glory, so hopefully that lends in favour of some of these other boys seeing more chance, if the opportunities arise?

It's still slightly sad seeing the likes of Neville, Makarounas and Galloway on the field, in the recent Victory v Jets game - I hope Glory don't have to add too many more to that list.
