Just loving this team at the moment. They're big, physical and tough - nobody can conquer them, strong CB pairing, arguably best and most solid in the league. Zadko was right in the post-game interview, this team full of natural leaders and that's why they're soo mentally tough, disciplined and organised. It's little wonder that Glory are so impressively consistent.
We aren't all about brute physicality and the beauty of this team is, they have touches of genuine quality in key areas, which further provides that crucial balance. Marinkovic was a key player involved in setting up both our goals, some lovely transitional passes setting up the counter attack. Keogh is quality and ruthless infront ofc, but his ability to hold up with good technique and work hard is a real feature ofcourse. Danny De Silva and Harold buck the physicality trend, though Harold has genuine pace, aswell as a nice finish on him. De Silva is star power for the near future, already starting to show through, just as he does he's off to Rome, so hopefully his late run with Glory serves him well, heading to Europe and prospects for senior footy on-loan. Vuka a top keeper, as he's always been and still shining on with great consistency.
Glory are not to be bossed, we're doing the bossing and the likes of old school Glory like Harnwell would be thrilled with this side and it's multi-faceted capabilities and standing up to most challenges this season.
I love Zadko's comment at the end about the FFA switching the hosting of the FFA Cup Final! That was dirty indeed and just shows why we rightly still hold that chip of the under-dog tag so proudly. Not only do fans, punters/media and perhaps some fellow professionals in the A-League, overlook or under-estimate Glory, but that attitude is lead by the FFA, who still treat the team as second-class citizens. Screw them all, we got our swagger, we keep on keeping on - keep on bossing it!
#NOTGIVINGIN as they say. :p Seems the slogan theme fits well for this season!
Sorry for that, just a bit excited - the ladder HighKick posted will be looking even better now. :D None of us could've thought we'd do this well, it's such a pleasant surprise. We knew we'd be a strong finals team, perhaps challenging the 4 best, but just very impressive! Credit to Lowe's recruiting too, all are stand-outs!

Does injury replacement have to be like for like? What do people think about the transfer season coming up. Anyone like to see any new signing or is the balance right? Although we are cap cheaters surely Hersi is on good coin and we could get a decent injury replacement.
I'd like to see it...I think we need to be looking ahead for next season. De Silva will be gone and Hersi will inevitably get injured again. So sign the injury replacement and hopefully he can be adequate cover for both of them when they're missing/gone.

IIRC, it doesn't have to be like for like. But I think it will be similar. Would not be surprised to see another winger who can play striker.

Please, no more 430, 5pm or 530pm kickoffs in the months of december, january, february and early march in Perth!
The Reds totally bossed the Glory for 85% of last night's game after they scored the first goal, purely because the Glory were exhausted, sickly after backing up from a 37 degree day in Geelong

Looks like Hersi's injury replacement is almost sorted. Expecting it to be announced in the next few days.

My biggest concern all along with our squad is that if Keogh got injured we would struggle up front, Babalj would offer some much needed depth in our central striker position.

Seems like a good signing, more depth isn't a bad thing and will only boost our title chances

Looking forward to him getting fitness and seeing what he can do. His position is apparently left back, left wing. So if he does well and becomes a starter I guess De Silva will be pushed to the right and he could start on the left. Maybe DeSilva can be paired with Marinkovic in the middle and Harold could still start instead of Garcia/Zad.
Nichols will still be out after the Asian Cup right? Like another 3 weeks or so afterwards?

Jamieson re-signs... Good news. Clisby gone, was only depth but leaves a big hole.

Edited by c-hawk: 16/1/2015 04:22:47 PM Jamo re-signing is great news, Clisby has failed to break through under 3 different coaches so he is right to move on to try and kick start his career elsewhere. Good luck to him.

Great news on keeping Jamo. Losing Clisby though leaves us very thin at CB now. Injury to Thwaite or Dino could be a big problem.
O'Neill our best third choice CB atm? Always saw him more of a midfielder but doesn't look like he'll be getting many opportunities with the depth we have there right now.

Decent hole left by Clisby but we really can't have a lot of depth at CB because of how much quality we have in that back 4. There aren't many chances for people. Is Milan Susak still playing? He'd be perfect for us, he can play anywhere across the back 4 and has played in some decent sides.

Options for CB include O'Neill, Zad, griffiths and Ferreira.
