Thread bump: From glory email department: Quote: Perth Glory would like to clarify a number of matters following the publication of recent erroneous and damaging media reports in relation to the club’s salary cap.
The club can confirm, it has not made any payments to a player through a third party for all or part of this current Hyundai A-League season.
The club can also confirm, all payments to its players, coaches and administration staff are made directly by the club’s finance department, and recorded in its accounts which are independently audited and submitted to the FFA annually.
All involved with Perth Glory FC, its members, sponsors, supporters and fans can be assured the club’s response to Football Federation of Australia’s second “Show Cause” notice will look to clarify its disclosure of all its payments to players.
The club will continue to work with the FFA in an open and transparent manner.
The club is confident it will address all the allegations raised by the FFA by the close of business Wednesday April 8, 2015.
Perth Glory FC remains firmly focussed on its next match against the Newcastle Jets on Easter Monday, and would also like to take this opportunity to wish our members a very happy Easter
Sincerely,

Matt Davies now released. ](*,) Fuck, this is going to end badly. Glory is going the be left with ageing old farts and no youth after the salary cap scandal dust settles. Perth Glory, now releasing Australia's best youth to a club near you. So they have recently released: O'Neill, O'Brien, Woodcock, Davies. Correct? Edited by hotrod: 8/4/2015 04:03:19 PM

Was pretty solid, got forward and for a teenager playing his first A league games showed a heap of promise. Hard being behind Risdon though and doesn't really play any other position.

He have an unreal back four. That's why its not the end of the world getting rid of defenders, but IMO Davies was one of the very few kids worth keeping.

I was hoping we'd get Susak, but I suppose he'll do.

^IF that is so, then why on Earth are Glory signing the more experienced and more expensive Golec and letting go the swathe of cheaper, local, young talent below?! I guess we already know the answer to that, given 'immediate concerns' but the whole mis-management issue - The irony of such outcomes, if after all this, we see all this young talent leave and the likes of Golec come in from over East! hotrod wrote:biscuitman1871 wrote:hotrod wrote:Matt Davies now released. ](*,)

I hope they voluntarily undergo a mini-embargo like they essentially did under Edwards. The team has soo much depth, even with injuries, that they hardly need any new talent. New young talent? Yes. But any more new 'aging AL stars?' certainly not - not unless they let some more of them go! For starters, Sidnei or Hersi, one has got to go! Marinkovic is no Marquee and if Keogh's contract back-loaded and Marinkovic's front-loaded, then we should expect to see Marinkovic back within the cap and Keogh as Marquee?!
I really 'hope' that Lowe and the football department still have a view to promoting the local young talent as one point of view may say that O'Neill, Clisby and others had certainly been with the squad a while and hadn't really elevated. DDS is leaving for Roma too. So in all this mess, perhaps it provides the opportunity for Lowe and co to scout and promote some more Glory NYL stars or NPL talents from WA? As Glory are due picking up some - as ironically Clisby and co were the last time Glory promoted such 'local talent'!
Edit: Perth Glory's current squad, entering into next season, doesn't has only ONE player under 21 in Woodcock (Edit: Ok two, Thurtell?) and there are constant rumours linking him with a move?! I know that can/should change come off-season, but if you look at the seniority of the list then it's little wonder that Glory are pushing the cap! Perhaps one of the most senior squad lists in the league?!

Edited by GloryPerth: 8/4/2015 11:46:10 PM And Glory's chicken's come home to roost. Instead of taking a long term 3-5 year strategic view of things and build the club from the ground up, Sage has once again gone for the quick fix to get his adrenaline rush in the finals. All the best youth of the state now leaving the club and Glory will be left with over paid older players, seriously distorting the squad age spread. Glory are again fucked in the arse. It will take years to fix this. But with Sage in control, he will keep chasing what he will never catch with short term views. Sure, it's not Christmas, but the same crap has happened again. Old squad, no youth and did not make the finals. I have said it before and will again, Sage needs to get kicked from Glory. The best we can hope is that the FFA revoke Sages licence and take over control of Glory. I don't care for Sage any more. I've had enough of his shit. Oh, and would the last Glory player leaving, please turn off the lights.

Is it wrong to take a long term view of things???? Sage can be read like a book. All he wants each season is finals action and maybe jag an ACL slot so he can fly to China and do business deals whilst watching Glory play. He wants that each season. He doesn't get that each season. He keeps doing the same thing each season (buy expensive, old, injury prone players) and releases the better up and coming local youth. Finals keep getting further away and he gets more desperate the next season. He needs to take a long term view. Write off 2-3 seasons and develop a squad from the ground up. Develop the local youth and build a winning squad. If they get snapped up by OS clubs, so be it, that's money in Glory's pockets. They can then be replaced by more local youth and thus there is a pathway for local youth. All this and more was in the Hatt report, which Sage has only picked a few choice recommendations. He has now now, arguably, long term damage to the club. It will take 3-5 seasons to get right. NOW is the time to build the club from the ground up. BUT, I see Sage doing absolutely nothing different. He has to go. If he demands Brewers head, then he is equally culpable as Chairman. Something as this bad occurring in a business would see the CEO and board get sacked. I fell sick to my stomach seeing this happen. Again another season wasted.

I'd also be interested to find out what role our new Director of Football, Jacob Burns played in generating this much smoke (and presumably some fire).

So, who needs to go at Glory??? CEO, Chairman, Director of Football operations???? Time for a fan revolt I fear. As a Glory supporter I have had enough of this shit of a club. I support the players on the pitch, but the club is being administered by monkeys. There needs to be a complete clean-out. FUCK THIS SHIT.

Well, we know Brewer is gone. Sage said he would be out of a job if they were found guilty. Burn the club to the ground though IMO, relocate Wellington here when NZ is kicked out of the league and have the Phoenix rise from our ashes

The administration don't deserve any loyalty from fans after what's just gone down. Unfortunate that this also directly impacts the players... My response was a little but heat of the moment but like hotrod, I wont be going back to nib until serious changes are made. I'll continue to support the playing squad from a distance.

Interesting that Harnwell mentioned anger will be directed towards Tony Sage, was expecting him to blame the people below sage. Good interview from him on Kick off.
