But a #1 ticket holder, supposedly representing the club, with Sage fawning over her????

Yeah, who gives a fuck. Apparently headlines on all the news feeds is really no-one.

Not a good look at all.

Less than 0.1% of the population would know that Dawn Fraser is the #1 ticket holder for Glory.

Yes, Sage is a twit who collects shiny things (Benny Elias, Robbie Fowler, William Gallas, Dawn Fraser) but Dawn Fraser is a silly old cow who has been saying stupid things for years. She hardly represents Perth Glory when she is doing so.

Danny Milosovic is Glory's goal keeping coach. He has worked with Kenny Lowe for several years as NTC keeping coach.

Good article about him here. http://www.goal.com/en-au/news/4025/features/2013/01/03/3644280/old-soccer-former-leeds-united-goalkeeper-danny-milosevic-on

Alas, I fear I have failed in my duty as a parent, for not only did my almost 18 year old daughter not know that, she had to ask who Dawn Fraser was.

Quite up with most sports, but struggles sometimes with attention if the sentence doesn't contain the words 'Nat Fyfe'.
On the parenting plus (?) side though, she knows the words to nearly every Slade song.

Perth Glory legend Jamie Harnwell has launched a stinging attack on the club after it refused to guarantee him a coaching extension for the women’s team he took to a record-breaking season this year.

Harnwell, a two-times championship winner with Glory’s men, toldThe West Australian yesterday he would not take up an offer to re-apply for the job he has held for the past four years.

Glory last week took over control of the women’s team, which had been previously run by Football West.

“I’m not going to apply, I’ve had enough of being treated like this, really,” a furious Harnwell said.

“As much as I’m disappointed to leave the girls and not be involved again, I’ve got too much pride and professionalism to do something like that. It’s been 17 years that I’ve been involved with the club in some capacity or another and to be treated like this, I’ve had enough.

“I’ve got no real feeling or passion for the club at all now. It’s all sort of wiped away, which is a shame given the history I’ve got with it.”

The job was advertised on Glory’s website last Friday, with another club great Bobby Despotovski speculated as a possible replacement.

Harnwell had orchestrated a stunning transformation for Glory’s women, who won the W-League Premiers’ Plate last season but lost the grand final. The team set a new mark for the biggest number of league points earnt in a single season and also became the first team to win the first six games of a season.

He said receiving an email early last week from Glory inviting him to reapply for his job as a “kick in the guts” and was disappointed to have had no discussion with the club about his possible replacement.

Harnwell said he had no personal conflict with Glory owner Tony Sage, but suspected public comments he made last year about the men’s team salary cap scandal had been detrimental to his hopes of continuing in the role.

He said he had asked the club to decide by last Monday night whether he would be granted an extension and when he did not receive a reply, he knew his time was up.

“From the age of 21, the club has pretty much consumed me,” he said. “It was incredible what we achieved on the park last season and it has been a really good bunch of girls who I’ve really enjoyed working with. It’s the best group I’ve been involved with and it’s a shame to lose that. It’s bit of a numb feeling.”

A Glory spokesman said last night the club stood by its offer for Harnwell, whose contract had expired, to reapply for the role as part of the process in the change of ownership of the women’s team.

I can't believe this. An absolute joke. When you've got club legends publicly saying they've lost their passion for the club you know you've handled things badly.

Absolutely shocking. And if it's a balls-up, bureaucratic bungle with the management change-over - then reach out and correct things. A successful coach with the team, on-field performance measures can't be a factor!

Edit: Atleast he's more available now, to be a pundit for Foxsports. I think he's a good pundit and a welcome change of perspective to reflect against the East Coast bias - Foxsports should bring him in full-time as he's obviously got history, heritage but also good coaching credentials, recent credentials too. As capable with the tactical and insider input as Rudan, Aloisi - any of them!

And soo damn sick of the SFC, MV and WSW fans dominating those panels - Get that outside perspective. And given how isolated Perth Glory is, physically, but also coverage-wise - Harnwell is the man to give insider insight and better knowledge on the happenings out this way and again, more balance to panel discussion.

Western Australia - represent!

Whoa, but wait, aren't people passionate about clubs supposed to stick by them even when they go to complete shit... or is that just reserved for making certain sections of the fan base feel morally superior to others? :-k

Didn't realise the director and star of 'The Room' was a Glory fan. Should take Fraser's #1 ticket holder place.

Spot on

Also didn't Jamie Harnwell's dad sack the Sorrento coach whilst the preimers trophy was still in the trophy cabinet to give Jamie the job?

Indeed this appears to be a stuff up of monumental proportions!! Gee when one of Glory's favourite sons turns on the club, even eternal optimists such as myself start to doubt the sensibility of hoping for the next coming of Kenny Lowe and a youth revolution!!!

With all the salary cap drama and whatnot, there has been an absolute plethora of issues and poor Jamie seems to have offended the wrong people by calling a spade a Sage I guess.

Heck, these are not random phenomena and I am sooo disappointed but with the light of reason perhaps this does mean a higher profile via an enhanced role for Harnwell in the Foxsports rotation (I love a good rotation).

Heck I say again, Glory are now further reduced in their quality, via this and it's happening. That's a given and part of the consequences and whatnot.

Well firstly, it has just all happened, so ofcourse he and most of us, would be quite upset (If our employer treated us this way)! He's a human being ofcourse! He will settle down after a while and like any of us who are fans, will come back and still support the club. He never won't as it's apart of him as he said. But like many Glory fans he too is being tested. Same goes for Bobby D and other legends, for periods (Bobby D has spoken out at times).

Oh look, another fuck up.

So you would you be happy to see Harnwell appear more as part of the Foxsports broadcast too I see? :)

With respect, this is a terrible idea.

Harnwell was earlier in this year appointed to have responsibility for all womens football in WA, from the 10s SAP group all the way through to the Glory Women. Although this sadly doesn't include the W league team anymore, he is doing a much more important job for football in this country (and this State) in his current role than he would as a talking head on Foxtel.

Plus he is a shit commentator and as boring as batshit. Travis Dodd would almost be a better option.

Also, Bobby Despotovski would be a terrible choice as coach of the Glory Women. I just hope that this (Harnwell's effective sacking) doesn't result in an exodus of players. When you are getting paid peanuts who the coach is would have big bearing on where you play.

weren't the glory going to base their ops out at sorrento?

won't be such a good atmosphere if Sage has fallen out with the Harnwell clan.

whilst I am all for meritocracy, it seems like Glory want rid of Harnwell, rather than simply for him to go through a selection process?

Am I the only football fan in this country that avoids listening/watching the Fox sports panel pre/during/post games at all costs.

I'm happy to watch as many A League games as possible over the weekend but sorry, I just can't stomach any of those w ankers on the panel and their personal agendas, backslapping and outrageously biased views on certain players/clubs.

Glory's plan is/was to use Aussie Rules pitch over the otherside of Percy Doyle Reserve.

Oh I had no idea - You are right, thanks for that Biscuitman. :)

Yeah, I may over-rate Harnwell as a contributor, but his recent coaching credentials are as good as any and these pundit panels can be short on recent coaches. Aloisi is back with an A-league club too, so that's one less pundit from a coaching pov. None-the-less, he has other roles beyond the W-League I see - he doesn't seem the kind of calibre guy who'd be short of a job for long anyway. On Travis Dodd, from what I've seen/heard he's one of the better ones it seems!

TBH I've only caught some as I don't have Foxsports, but don't seem to be missing much for reasons like you say. Apparently it was better when Ange was on there - but ofcourse we're far better off having him coaching our NT. :)
