Carney had Warren in his pocket majorly. It was borderline embarrassing.

I was really underwhelmed with Sandor.

I've got doubts over whether Garcia is a 90min player anymore. He was first on the park to tire, noticably.

Tyson was incredible in the 2nd half.

Oxborrow was unreal - not sure he's been mentioned yet. I have always been impressed with the kid and with gametime I think can become one of your most important players. So composed on the ball, and is incredibly mature defensively also.

I hope Sandor improves and gets more of the ball with more time with the team. Also hope Garcia drops to the bench with Castro and Fernandez coming in. I'm going to be so pissed if Garcia is given captaincy and plays a big part of this season.

Sandor was missing for most of the game but then gave me hope now and then with glimpes. He's going to end up being like Marinkovic, missing for most of the game but contribute a few touches, passes and goals that make it hard to dislike him. Together with their powers combined, they make 1 pretty good mifielder.

I also hope we get an Australian marquee. Pllsssss an Australian marquee midfielder or LB. [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<

Yes NPL players. #21 was Stefan Valentini, #4 was Jacob Collard. Valentini looked good in ET.

I was coaching last night so couldn't watch the stream, only the recording on Foxtel when I got home.

How bad was Warren?

Warren seemed out of place. Caught out of position a lot, didn't offer a lot going forward either. I might just be looking into it too much but I think some of his team mates agree too... at times it seemed like Marinkovic opted to pass to other people when the pass for Warren was on. Is a worry since our game will probably depend on the wings, Castro and Warren seems like a mismath. Golec was also in his preferred CB position but was at fault for the first goal.

Garcia is captain, so he will be on the pitch for the majority of games and time.

That is a big worry.

I think Sandor is still finding his feet but with him pairing with Nebo, should make things interesting.

And that is a huge issue IMO.

You'll have a midfield of Garcia, Marinkovic & Sandor. The latter two being on&off players, and Garcia being a 60minute player.

Last year at the back end of the season when Jerks hosted you guys, I thought Paljic & Garcia were basically non-existent for you and it was obviously hurting the side.

The problem is at least this early, there doesn't seem to be a noticable improvement to that situation.

I didn't think Collard was a LB. I didn't see the game when he got subbed on. Was he a like for like sub for Warren? And would he be a feasible/better option than Warren?

Did anyone else notice how he motioned with disgust when a mis-pass needed him to run to keep possession towards the end? Not fit enough for 90mins and doesn't have the temperament for the captaincy.

When I was watching, Collard was playing RB and Risdon had swapped over to the left. I think we lose a lot of attacking options when Risdon is not on the right.

At the moment my strong preference would be for Thwaite to stay and Golec to play LB but we haven't seen Alex Grant yet. He is a left footer and surely can't be worse then Warren if Golec has to play CB.

Pleased to get some insight from those who saw the game.
I could only follow a different game on Twitter, and this other team would've given Barcelona a run for their money.
On and on they went, with wave after wave of attack ...

47' | Frenetic start to the half, both teams upping the tempo in the early stages.

48' | Ooh! Nebo has a crack from the edge of the box, but it's straight at Birighitti. Good lead up to the shot.

49' | Glory putting pressure on early, Gyorgy Sandor pulling the strings in the middle with Nebo.

50' | Long throw in is cleared by the Jets, Glory holding onto possession well and showing intent.

51' | Lee Ki-Je has a shot but its high and wide. Tyson goal kick.

52' | Nebo has a strike from his danger zone but its well over the bar. Glory playing well with good rhythm.

54' | High pressure from Glory making a huge difference in this half, Jets struggling to retain the ball.

55' | Glory need to make the possession count. So far, no questions that they've been the dominant team.

55' | JETS SUB: Cam Watson is replaced by Ben Kantarovski in the middle of the park, as Glory win a corner.

56' | A dangerous Marinkovic corner is caught well by Birighitti.

56' | Haliti has a shot from the edge of the box but it's blocked, Sandor plays the ball out of danger.

57' | Risdon has a crack from distance, deflected out for a Glory throw.

58' | Harold's long throw is just too high for Garcia to finish, Glory throwing everything at the Jets still.

58' | Sidnei is barged down by Boogaard, winning a free kick as the defender is booked.

59' | Nebo with a free-kick in a dangerous crossing area. Big chance for Dino, Golec or the big boys to get a head on this.

59' | Nebo's cross is cleared to Harold, his header finds an offside Sandor. Birighitti's free kick.

61' | Boogaard looks for Haliti but Glory defend well. Jets with a rare movement forward in the second half.

63' | Sandor with a nice turn away from Cooper; the Hungarian has looked great so far.

64' | Oxborrow has a strike from distance that flashes wide. Meanwhile, Mitch Cooper has picked up an injury.

Anyway, still great to win.
How many times has a Glory keeper saved 3 from 6, so straight into #1 spot for some time to come.
Can't even remember any of our keepers having saved 3 penalties in total playing for Glory?
Tando - 1 (my grandmother could have saved that), Danny - 2 ?, anyway saves are saves and Covic can at best warm the pine for a while.
I thought too the captaincy was just for last night's match only, and hopefully it'll get thrown straight to Dino where it should be.
From all reports Valentini also showed some nice touches.

Google sez:

Kosta Petratos
18yo ish Attacking midfielder.
Sydney Olympic junior.
Played for FFA Centre of Excellence team.
Was in the Joeys U/17 squad in 2015.

Nick Epifano
21yo ish winger
Played in Melb City's youth team in 2013.
Played for Sth Melb in 2014 (scoring 8 in 44 games) and played part of 2015.
Got into trouble in April 2015 for commenting on social media and getting into an incident at a match. Seems to have a volatile side.
Was counselled by the club and retained, but went to Dundee Utd on trial at end of June 2015.
Returned in July due to 'family reasons'.
Soccer Stoppage Time reported on 1 Aug that after doing an interview with them, he had interest from Adelaide Utd and Glory.
Here a youtube of him: Epifano youtube
Here is the 442 rumour mill link, with some comments: 442 rumour mill

Seems to cop a bit of stick for being divisive and having skill but drifting out of games.

Just with Garcia - Technically, it's middle of the pre-season, with October a little far off - so he and the others will still be a little off the pace and not quite full match conditioning? Expect the team and personnel to be a fair bit sharper in a month or so's time?

Also, just because he's Captain, DOESN'T mean he has to be an automatic starter, let alone playing the full 90 minutes! Just look at Sydney FC circa Season 2005/06, when Mark Rudan was their Captain? :-k Also, Garcia is 33 going 34 this year, entering his 35th year in 2016. Forget Garcia for a second - MOST mid 30-somethings are struggling to play the full 90s of games, let alone a Garcia who has never been known for fantastic pace.

And given Glory's options in the final third, expect he and Harold to be the options on the right and maybe even some rotation through the season, due to injuries and suspension, with some chopping and changing with Sandor, Castro, Sidnei and the like too? Garcia can be seen to be an option upfront too - back-up to Fernandez. So, depth wise, Garcia isn't too bad I suppose - he's not necessarily a full 90 player these days and he coming off early second half in A-League games with a Harold coming on (Or even the reverse?) - that's not too bad a scenario? :-k

Thanks for the feedback on Oxborrow Pv4, good to read - he and Grant should be some good signings in the picture, hence my optimism earlier in the thread.

If Warren is soo terrible, then hopefully this pre-season exposes that and provides Lowe and co with the evidence needed to upgrade there or atleast give alternates a more substantial opportunity. It seems Golec must be the #1 LB, so hopefully we hang onto Thwaite, indeed. Grant's value in the rotation may increase too, given he's a left-footer as Biscuit says.

Fuck.

And FFS lose his captaincy because he voiced his displeasure with the salary cap debacle? That's bullshit. As the captain you would expect him to voice the collective frustration with that bullshit.

Not happy with this and Garcia getting captaincy. If this has anything with to do with Sage seems typical, he seems like the general psychopath businessman who feels the need to surround himself with yesmen.

Yep, Carney was arguably the best player on the park and absolutely destroyed Warren. Lowe put Risdon at LB noticably to prevent Carney from running riot.

The Jerks equaliser was from a Carney cross from the Jerks left side, so he obviously had figured out that it was easier to play against not-Risdon and moved across.

Fuckity, fuck, fuck , fuck.

So Glory have lost:

One of the best CBs in the league
One of the best DMs in the league
One of the best STs in the league
One of the best young STs in the league
One of the best LBs in the league
One of the best GKs in the league

All because they wanted to cheat.

Fuckers.

That being the case, prime targets to fill the roster out are, IMO:

class CB, second out and out striker, DM and AM.

DO NOT WANT GOLEC AS CB. Ok as a back-up, not first choice.

You have said all this before - many, many times ... it's boring.

What do you want me to say? Yay?

I'm just airing my displeasure at Glory losing another quality player.

Next time they lose someone I'll jump right on and praise Jesus.
