Sorry hotrod, you will have to find something else to whinge about.

Bummer.

That is good news. See, I can be positive.

Probably better staying with an unsuccessful club that will pay but is a bit of a basket case than go to a successful club that won't pay and is becoming a basket case.

But then I slip into bad habits.

According to today's West Australian and he had already been named in the squad for tonight's game earlier in the week.

Why would anyone go to Brisbane Roar in the current circumstances?

Me too, but it sounds like good news and his ability on the pitch is needed.
Let's hope he hasn't burnt all his bridges and gets shafted when it comes to team selections each week.
Presumably he decided that honouring his contract for the last year and getting paid regularly was far better than the Brisbane alternative.

He'd be pretty close to qualifying for the loyalty bonus. I'm glad he's stuck around. Hoping he finishes his career with Perth. Also hoping he gets the captain armband back.

This season is his 4th season. He signed on the for 2012/13 season, so probably has to wait until the 17/18 season.

I think only Risdon gets it this season.

FFA cup game vs WSW is at Dorrien Gardens. Prefer this to Subiaco. Still disappointed it isn't at NIB but at least our hosting rights aren't being revoked or we aren't playing in an oval stadium.

Didn't realise it was so small...soccerway has capacity at 1000 but utlimate a-league website says capacity is 5000. Says highest attendance was 3000 against Adelaide in 2006.

Yeaah looks pretty small, looks like there's only viewing from one side as well. I'm sure someone on here has been and can say more on it. I assume capacity is 5000. Could be a sellout but should be fine considering when we drew Victory at home in the FFA cup last year we only got 3899.

I'd guess "1000 capacity" refers to grandstand seating. I'm sure you could uncomfortably get 4000 into the grassed areas which are mostly flat, but there is (limited) viewing all around the pitch.

well, let's assume 1,000 in the grandstand.

There's 350m of accessible fencing around the pitch.

Assuming 0.5m per person that's 700.

If people stand 2 deep that's another 700.

Three deep, that's another 700.

So, 1700 comfortable, 2500 at a bit of a squeeze and 3200 to 3500 bursting at the seams.

I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in some additional temporary seating. Squeeze in 3-4,000. Should be a great atmosphere.

So you guys were seated there?! Boy - agreed!

It was impressive to see a full house at the ground for a game of this code! Just can only imagine such crowds for Glory's games!

It was a good thing the Socceroos got a couple goals early, made it a much easier game to get that Goal Difference up, after the unexpected difficulty of the first away game.

Glory squad trained at Tompkins Park in Melville this morning. Not sure if that is a temporary thing or if they have moved from the UWA sports grounds.

How to disenfranchise two of the club's stalwarts.

Yeah very similar to the Harnwell situation. Some strange moves.

Also...
Quote:
With news that Perth Glory are setting up an academy of their own, it was believed by many that McGarry would be a key figure in the set up.

It should be stated here, that this Academy will not be like the academies of the top clubs in Europe, where a network of scouts keep tabs on players of all ages and at all clubs. Academies where those selected do not have to pay a cent, the club fund everything. It does seem bizarre that a professional club should be asking parents to pay for their talented child to be a part of such an academy. Surely it would not be another revenue stream? However we digress.

This seems worrying. Not sure on the prices or circumstances so I'm in no position to say anything but this seems like bullshit. An academy shouldn't be a cash grab which only privileges the rich kids. How much would this cost the club? Surely cheap/free academies that foster young talent should be a priority.

This article doesn't contain quotes from anyone. I am not disputing the basic facts but would like to see what the two parties actually say about it before forming an opinion.

A new CEO is naturally going to be looking at what the administration is spending money on and as with most businesses, staff costs are both a big proportion and one of the easiest things to reduce.

I really like McGarry and he has obviously done a great job with the u20s, but with the NPL season coming to an end, a number of other youth team coaches (inc John Gibson, Jacob Burns) and also having locked in Bobby as W-League coach, it may have been seen that McGarry's role as "Community Strategic Development Officer" may have been expendable.

I'm not sure what it actually entailed other than running the school holiday programs and putting his name to the members' emails that came out. Possibly the new CEO didn't think that warranted a full time salary for 12 months of the year?

Would also like to see what other redundancies have occurred or whether this is isolated to just McGarry.

But don't just leave a vacuum.

Needs some positive spin.

After the Harnwell sacking this is just business as usual for Glory.
