Quotes from Tony Sage that we are still in the hunt for a decent GK. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2016/06/20/schwarzer-confirms-he-considering-league-moveIf Sydney offer him first team football, I don't see Schwarzer coming over to us, would be nice though. Good to see Ante Covic still in the mix, can't really fault his performance for us last season.

Looks like it's Kenny Lowe's extension.

Lowe has said that there aren't many quality Aussie keepers left and that he needs to look outside. Our squad is pretty full up except for a good keeper and the aim of a visa player is to import a better quality player not available from the Australians left. As long as the keeper is quality, it wouldn't be a bad use of a visa spot, just like any other outfield player. That or we could recruit Liam Reddy

The 96 kit was ugly AF even for that era. I wonder how they think they could make it not suck.

If SFC are linked with Vuka now, then what's the-go with Schwarzer?! Perhaps as Sage said, it was SFC or retirement. Glory have the VISA spot, so given Lowe's comments as you highlight Akumastarr, it's possible Glory could be going that route. Especially as it doesn't seem clear where else they would utilise that VISA place. deluka wrote:Have heard that you guys are looking at Liam Boland from Green Gully, he's from Perth which is probably where the initial interest stems from. What do we think of the membership drive so far? Seems to be going ok. Decent chunk more signed up this year so far. I would like to see some more advertising if it was within the budget. Their campaign seems to be limited to twitter/facebook which is good to start off with but I think it's just preaching to the converted.

As per rumour mill section.
Tim Cahill.
Do you guys want him?
From my point of view, you don't need him and if the funds are made available for a player like that you'd be better off going for a marquee AM whether that be a Holman, troisi or someone international?

Like you said, rather see that money spent on an AM. If Sage is willing to spend that money would be great if we could get a marquee AM. Would be much better for the team. Keogh, Taggart and Castro is a strong front line as it is. As long as they keep fit. Also want to see more of Reiners, so signing more strikers will secure his spot in youth/bench.

Castro IS the AM though, Glory's #10. Reiners may see more opportunity with less depth on the flanks. Players like Reiners, Taggart are the ones to provide options/depth in those kinds of roles, Marinkovic (Another AM) and winger Harold about and Keogh the main striker, Garcia in the rotation. If you guys mean a proper left sided winger like in hte mould of a Sidnei then I'd agree, otherwise Glory well stocked.

If we stay with the diamond with Castro behind Keogh and Taggart. But if we go to a regular 442 yeah probably a LW is more important. What I want to see is a good AM to push Marinkovic/replace his selection and a LW. Think I'd rather another AM to replace marinkovic in the starting 11, if Herd and Williams stay fit. If they stay fit I can see Kenny staying with the diamond. Castro also might get injured/need rotation for a rest like with late last season. If we lose Castro and rely on Marinkovic that's season over. The Sydney game and even the last City game where Castro was sore is evidence for that.

Could he push Marinkovic for selection? I was disappointed when Newcastle signed Clut. Would have liked to give him a chance. Like mentioned before...probably Tombides or the other Williams brother. Williams plays as either a 10 or winger right?

You never know, the possibility of playing 1st team football with his brothers for the same club, might sway him, although he is not out of contract.

Was Ryan Wiliams injured last year?? I heard he signed for barnsley after playing a few games for fulham and on loan to them, then it all went quiet? Tombides would be an interesting signing, can honestly say the only time I seen him play we for Mark Nobles testimonial, but he scored a cracker then, anyone got more info on him????

The Barnsley coaching and backroom staff rate him quite highly though he did struggle a bit with injury. Predominantly played on the wing for them cutting inside

I haven't seen Ross Millard play. Any one know if he's any good? Could he be a viable left back in the not so distant future?
