Today at school my friends were bored in science and were writing out many abbreviations for words (as you do) and i wrote FTW and they said it meant "For the win." Personally i've always said it was "Fucks the world" and have never heard of for the win before. I'm pretty sure its Fucks the world but what do you guys think? Maybe it has a double meaning...
Also wikipedia has it down as for the win and no fucks the world...

Although I do enjoy the song F.T.W by Turbonegro, which is Fuck the World. But yeah, FTW is For The Win.

Origiannly it was 'fuck the world' and has been since the 80's. but 'for the win' seems to have become the accepted meaning courtesy of the TB trash that trawls the internet.

In biker gangs it meant Fuck the World,

but in online usage it mainly means For the Win.
When you see FTW, don't ever get a biker confused with a gamer or else you might be like "stfu n00b" and then get your face smashed in.

The phrase "fuck the world" pre-dates the internet, "for the win" is internet slang '1337 speak' or whatever. FTW is "fuck the world", no arguments.
mk will back me up in saying "fuck the world" was on Tupac's 'me against the world' and that was from 1995.

Sure, fuck the world WAS on Tupacs me against the world... I have it, but that doesn't mean FTW means that. Who would say FTW instead of fuck the world in real life anyway? Its only useable FOR the internet really.

Never knew Fuck the World was also FTW. I tend to use leetspeak in everyday conversation. Playing online games for nearly a decade does that to you.

I use an agressive 'LOL' thats loll not L.O.L. when someone is waiting in anticipation for their shit joke to be laughed at.
