I think that the Socceroos were better under the control of Hidink.

Parkeran strikes again with another brilliant deduction. you know that doesn't make him a brilliant coach...

hmmm fair call but atm... benitez...many others that are as good a coach?

throughout history, yeah...but none off the top of my head, the sauce is flowing so it's not so good at the moment.

No if you remember correctly ranieri coached Chelsea before Mourinho and Vialli coached them before that. But whats more important than all of that is champions league and world cup victories in the italian coaches i have mentioned earlier. Not many countries can face up to that record i assure you

Scott ODonnel is a Sydney born player from the Windsor/Richmond area. I believe he played state league here and then moved I thought to Malysaia to play professional football. I think he played for only one or two clubs over 4 or 5 years then became a player coach. He also enticed many sydney state league players over to play and be paid as highly prized professionals.

Yeah but for some reason Italian coaches don't all too often coach outside of Italy (national teams anyway).

I'd like to see an Italian coach take on another country's gig to see what happens.

I never said that he was good enough to coach the Socceroos. I was just pointing out that this:

how many australian born coaches work outside the country? Not a single one.

wasn't entirely true. Thats all.

I am pretty sure the national coach of Cambodia is Australian. He has been there for a number of years now.

So there's at least one!! ;)

EDIT:

ton.of.bricks - this is a real vendetta of yours isn't it?...but i'm inclined to agree.

The main reason that there are so many players playing overseas is because of the money, not because of the skill.

Too Right Mate

The FFA are sorting the new coaching problems out. It will take time.
Im hoping we will never ever have to have a coach for the socceroos who is inexperienced, unqualified and incapable of coaching as the coaches at the helm currently for the asian cup.

Australia is perhaps the leading country in numbers of players playing football overseas, but how many australian born coaches work outside the country? Not a single one. Doesn't say much about the domestic coaching talent, does it?[-(
