WGMG: All these border security shows. Honestly, how the fuck do people find that interesting? The people on the show (the actual security people and what not), are absolute wankers too.

The border show, the police shows, the animal rescue shows. Low budget. Low content. No Quality.

I'll give you the Police shows. The Animal shows aren't that bad, spose that depends on your opinion with animals.

I quite like RSPCA etc, Animal Patrol and those on Austar.

How are they wankers? Because they can actually interpret the the rules and laws, unlike the passengers they stop?

Border Security is awesome - the stupid are always willing to provide cheap and easy laughs. The NZ one is shite though.

To me, they just don't seem to treat the people they're talking to with respect at all. They instantly assume they're guilty.

EDIT: I know the people they have on the show are all guilty, but if they treat all the people they deal with like that, it's pretty poor.

You've never left the country have you Funky? They dont' treat everyone like that, they just ham it up for the cameras to inspire fear. Which is humorous, but far from annoying. It makes the show, because there wouldn't be half the confrontations they get for the cameras either.

+1. It's good for killing time when there's nothing on TV that's worth watching/nothing to do.

WGMG: When I went to check my hattrick before, it was interrupted, saying there was some sort of computer infection. So, I do a whole computer scan with my anti-virus software and nothing comes up. Nothing. So, I guess I'll just run with that then.

They're not in customer service FFS. And two-thirds of the people they deal with on the show are complete idiots. And yes, if someone raises customs, immigration or quarantine's suspicion, they have to be assumed that they are some sort of threat until a process of elimination can clear them - that's security. If someone's bag is flagged for having traces of heroin on it, it's better to assume they are smuggling heroin in and to eventually find that they aren't, than for someone who's bag isn't flagged but IS carrying heroin.

At the end of the day, if you actually read and fill out your declaration cards properly and honestly, the whole process at the airport is quick and easy. Not to mention the staff there are actually quite friendly and respectful. People on Border Security just make the process harder for themselves by not declaring food when the fucking card asks "do you have any food", are carrying ninja death stars without declaring them to customs, carrying 3 million yen and not declaring it as being over A$10k because they assumed it wasn't over the threshold while also admitting it was 3 years' savings, or rocking up to immigration without luggage and only $50 cash claiming to be on holidays for the next 3 months. And because of their stupidity, they are treated more bluntly.

Which is exactly what pisses me off about the show. They're treating people differently, just for the sake of TV, it's bullshit.

So it's EXACTLY THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER TELEVISION SHOW IN EXISTANCE.

I detest all of these shows. But any show is hammed up for the camera, no matter what it is. Whether it's ACA, the News, Band of Brothers or Border Security. Once you add a camera, people will do, or think they can do anything.

Of course shows are hammed up. Normal television shows, that's fine. But shows that are dealing with people's actual lives, shouldn't.

Your typical airport experience is you walk throguh customs, they scan your bag, you pick it up, you walk off. That's NORMAL, people's ACTUAL LIVES. Would you watch half an hour of that? No, I didn't think so.

Then why the fuck make a TV show about it? Who sat down and went, "Let's make a TV Show, showing what Customs do, except let's make it completely different to what they actually do, so that it's entertaining" Fucking pointless.
