WGMG: Chris Gayle. Haven't been this dissapointed since Gilly
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

It is such a shit way to get out. One fine Saturday morning, I was cruising and did exactly this. Gave backward point simple catching practice when I was on course for a big score.

Yep, done the same. Think I'd middled every shot I'd played so far. Lashed out at a wide ball, and just didn't get over the top of it. I swear to god, getting out after getting a start in cricket has to be the most frustrating thing in any sport.

Yeah, agreed. Gayle's dismissal was eerily reminiscent of mine though. I was in two minds as to whether to play a slashing cut shot over the top for four like I did every other time, or to let it go through to the keeper, but I got stuck in the middle and made a pissweak connection to backward point.
I put on about 100 runs with the captain that inninngs and after I went, at the end of the innings, he made 83*. Our captain was getting heaps of stick lately for making crap scores, so we nicknamed him 'big zero.' Then he did this. #-o Made me think what could've been that day.

Haha, not worth kicking yourself over that, nothing to do with you. It's not like he failed, either, 83* is still a good score...That's the same as my highest IIRC:P

socceroos_fan wrote:WGMG: Not being aware that I traveled into the Cricket Thread. Where has that gone anyway? Yeah, I was just kicking myself because I could have made a very similar score that day and the fact that 'big zero' had beaten us all on the scorecard. Funny though, he didn't do much with the bat since and then the following season, we opened, put on a fair stand and by the end, he got 84*.

WGMG: This heat. Today, Dad put a thermometer on the clothesline and checked it at about 2pm. It was 48 degrees in the sun. After he told me, I went outside and after about a minute you can feel your skin burning.
