No, we both do debating, (thats how i know her) and there is a very strong possibility that we will both be selected for the state team in a few months, and she seems nervous about how that would be if we were in a relationship.

well wed actually be directly competing for a place, as they cut some people out of the squad, and i think she is worried about what would happen if we broke up during this time.

I see. I don't do debating so I don't really see how that would be a big deal. Sure you could be competing for a place, but you could still be happy for the other person if they got it.

Subtract debating for anything that is competitive like being selected for a rep squad or something. I think the point Mr Catbert is trying to make is that if they broke up, it would have an adverse effect on their debating skills and chances of getting into the team. If your emotions are everywhere, it affects not just you but your whole debating team.

I suppose. Sorry if I sound rather insensitive. In the end it's her loss, and you can always ask her out again futher down the track if you want.
