WGMG: Got to football, it starting raining/hailing, so we decided to call it off. Get home, stops raining. It's still bloody freezing though, I just hope we can reschedule the game.

WGMG: So the surgeon in Perth won't operate on me because it's not a danger to my physical health. Looks like I'm going to Germany.

WGMG: Severe Weather Warning tonight? Still have to train.

Lots of catch up matches and stuff were cancelled tonight. I think people are overreacting a little bit. We didn't have all these precautions on Sunday and everybody survived.

Obviously the guy is in physical discomfort and what not. But the surgeons won't risk taking up a bed and valuable time when they've got cases that are actually life threatening.

This was one of the most physical gigs I've been to. You really have to be able to hold your own if you want to get in on a fake ID.

What afro said. Most surgeons won't do it unless the condition is a direct risk to life. Mine's not that severe, but it's still bad enough to warrant getting it fixed.

WAGMG: The violent football culture in Eastern Europe. I watched Dateline last night about the racial violence etc in Poland/Ukraine, and it makes me embarrassed to be half Polish.

Don't be. There's football related violence everywhere, Italy, England, you name it. I, like many other am of English heritage but I'm not embarrassed about that because they have a few hooligans. I'm embarrassed about it because their national team is garbage :lol:

But back on the violence thing, it just makes me sick to the pit of my stomach that mobs would gang up on fellow supporters who aren't looking for trouble just because of their ethnicity. Even my Dad said to me during the documentary that in that part of the world, there are still a lot of primitive minded people there who don't work and have nothing better to do than cause trouble.

To be honest, without having seen or read too much about the football related violence in Easter Europe it seems to me like it's less of a football related problem and more of a gang-related mob mentality issue, with football being tacked on because that's how these idiots get together. They're not in it to watch or follow the football, they just converge around games of football using it as an excuse for racially motivated hate.

Fair enough. Without having read up on it in detail either, that seems to make sense.

It has bugger all to do with football and is more about the fact that Poland is largely a lower-class, second world country and thus the gang mentality is far more prevalent. Same in the Ukraine. It was the same in Italy in the 80's, as with England in the late 60's through until Hillsborough.

That's what I meant. People are in gangs causing violence and they just so happen to do it at football matches because that's how they all get together.

You see the same thing in america with rap music, really.

theres not a single tournament in europe where fan violence doesn't break out and half or more of it goes unreported by the media, I was in France at the time of world cup 98 and much worse was going on there, In England too I remember Arsenal fans rioting after winning the premiership they were destroying shops and setting buses on fire you name it and not a word mentioned in the papers because it would have been bad publicity for Englands world cup bid. it's all political some people in the British media are butthurt about Poland and Ukraine getting the euro and Russia getting the world cup
