Was hardly expecting to stay best pals, but was at least expecting to keep in touch with a couple of them. Most of them either blatantly ignore me, barely talk when they do, or have just deleted me from their lives entirely. Turns out high school was a load of bullshit

If its any consolation, high school is such a small part of life. It's so cliquey as well, i've found that whilst I miss hanging out with my mates at school, I'm enjoying uni life more because I don't feel like I'm being judged by anyone. At high school, there's so much pressure to do certain things.

These things happen Maxi but you've still got plenty of time to make new friends and strengthen relationships with existing friends, I mean one of my closest mates now was a mere acquaintance/friend of a friend when I was in school.
I have drifted a bit from my school friends as I moved to the city and moved into student accommodation, it was easy to make new friends here and when you live with these mates, share classes with them and basically barely have any time away from them you form ridiculously strong bonds. I don't make anywhere near as much an effort as I should to keep in touch with mates from home which is sad, but the friendships I have formed at uni are so strong and will definitely be the friendships that last through life, I'm incredibly grateful for having the chance to meet such a quality bunch of people.
I've realized how much I've changed when I go home and catch up with mates from school and how we aren't as close as we used to be, but I'm easily reminded of how good they are and we still have plenty of fun catching up. Basically there's plenty of time to make new relationships and your existing friendships can still be maintained if you put in some effort.

This was going on long before that. You were posting potentially inflammatory posts long before that too. People are going to be fickle. You've got the rest of your life to make friends champ. Don't let the community you were shoe-horned into as a young adolescent determine your social standing. We say on here all the time, once you get out into the real world you meet more similarly minded people and get into a social circle that's much tighter than high school.

Cheers afro and Fredsta, you guys posted exactly what I needed to read. I'm still sad as fuck that I'm not close with my mates anymore, but I've got some faith now that I'll find some better friends in the future.

Wait, what? Are you at uni and these people are boasting that they're enrolling in x,y & z courses next year? Or are you in year 12? Thought regardless what state you're in you don't receive tertiary offers until late December or early January?
