Yep, the Llounge is where random shit goes, but you can start your own thread if you really want to.
Yes and no. It used to be the place where random shit goes, now that sanctity has been encroached by WGMG and WFMB threads.

WGMG: Went to watch some EPL games this morning, heard some noises coming from the couch which is next to the door that leads to the front door and it sounded like someone was there.

I was close to wetting myself then I realised I'd left a few windows open and it was just the wind blowing against the curtains

I hear this so often. Never bothered me working in the food/confec ailses in retail. Though, when I was hungry, I'd extend the box cutter further than necessary when opening the box and eat the damaged unit as I took it to the shrinkage bin. :P I was in management, wouldn't recommend you attempt that.

When I worked fruit and veg I used to do similar things, when I had to cut up watermelon or pineapple halves I'd slice off a decent portion for myself to wolf down when no one was looking, occasionally when I was in the store room I'd grab myself a peach or nectarine. When I was working mornings I had to do quality control and I'd often write off a punnet of perfectly good strawberries and save them for my break.

I often have to do 'quality control' on our cocktail supplies. This involves chowing down on any number of things like stuffed Olives, Strawberries, Cucumber, etc.

You can also sneakily drink the mis-poured drinks 8-[

WGMG: Arseholes.

Me and my mate were walking back to mine for a few games of FIFA, after a night out, where we overhear an arguement between two people (one male, one female). The male was getting progressively more violent and grabbed her by the throat at one point, before punching her across the face. We run over to try and help the girl, whose bleeding from the lip, and he doesn't approve of this too much, pushes her into a fence, and smacks my mate across the jaw, before kicking him in the back when he's down. I retaliate, and push him away from my mate, cop a smack in the nose before he trips me and bolts. Turns out the girl didn't know the bloke before tonight, and that he was hitting on her at mates earlier, before following her. His motives appeared to be sexual.

My mate has a broken jaw, i have stitches in my head from how heavily I landed on the concrete from the fall, and a broken nose, and the girl has a fractured cheek bone, all because one dickhead wanted sex.

You gotta learn how to fight, mate. Props for going to her rescue, a lot of people would have just kept on walking. But putting yourself in that position can be very dangerous.

I don't like painting myself as a fighter but I have to admit that I did get a few solid hits in. Least the injuries we sustained weren't overly terrible, I'd take a cracked nose and a head gash over a woman raped and severly injured anyway.

Shit dude, good that you're not too banged up.

I've been in a couple of similar situations. Like you I'm not much of a fighter; I'd probably manage to defend myself. And like you, I couldn't just jog on because I couldn't live with myself if I found out the next day the girl had got raped or hospitalised or worse. One time the guy surrendered because there were two of us, another time I kicked the guy in the balls, date called the cops, I gave a statement and that was it. Probably wouldn't do that if I got coaxed into a fight, but I don't care if people think less of me for doing so when they're attacking a woman - I doubt people would.

I sure it's not the case everywhere, but having seen Once Were Warriors, and the stories a high school teacher told us about when he was on the police force in NZ... I'd be too much of a pussy to go out in NZ. :P

I've been in fights before, but I tend to shy away from it unless it benefits someone else, which tonight did. I've learned how to defend myself from my father being an abusive twat when he was drunk and I was growing up, just let my concentration slip when he hit my nose and tripped me. When he was choking her, he didn't seem likely to let go (until he heard our footsteps), so if I woke up and read that a girl was strangled to death, I wouldn't have forgiven myself knowing I could have made a difference.

All these thoughts of how things might have ended up are making this headache a lot more bareable.

Not sure why not many people would, for us we didn't even think about it, we just ran in as soon as we saw it.

Extremely reckless and lucky we're not too badly injured, I'm running every possible scenario in my head and most of them aren't good so I'll take these few injuries.

We live in a world where girls are told to yell "fire" instead of "help". You're one of the few good people willing to risk personal safety to help someone else (Y)

I know, but there's still a long way to go and they're only 5 points behind. It makes me a bit uneasy when QPR, Reading, Villa, Sunderland etc pick up maximum points.

Plus we have some quite difficult games coming up such as Everton, Man Utd and Man City in fairly quick succession.

A little bit of advice for all you would-be heroes out there:
1. Avoid confrontation, shout out first. Often that's enough to scare the guy off.
2. If he's going to persist and wants to throw down, the first thing he's going to do is throw a haymaker - it's the weapon of choice for the drunk meathead. So get in close to him, it's hard to throw a haymaker if you're 3 inches away from him.
3. It doesn't matter how big they are, they've all got a neck a knee and a groin. Drive your elbow into the side of the neck and take out their knee with your leg, they're on the ground and you're in control.
4. Don't be a hero. That's how you end up in hospital/prison.

Inevitably someone's going to come along and go "afroman doesn't know what he's talking about, I've been trained in XYZ martial art and I know better".

Had a similar situation down my local, I called for two of my mates to come with me to come sort it out, which we did without throwing a punch, just lots of threats and intimidation and the guy pissed off.

1 of my mates ended up giving the other a pretty decent shiner though after he refused to go with us to help. Basically walked straight up to him and called him a coward and smack! Plenty will disagree with that, but at the time it seemed appropriate

That's a pretty dog move like that. It's a dangerous situation to put yourself in and if your mate doesn't want to get involved then that's up to him.

i went to good vibes a few years back just to see the killers & they bailed out of it within a few days of the gig though. got stuck watching the gossip and salt&pepper which was shit (although midnight juggernaughts at the end was great). i've hated the killers ever since because i felt so let down by them that day - even though iirc they had a decent reason not to show up.
