Zimbos I don't think anyone was calling you a tightarse until RJL chimed in. It's a legitimate request that should be asked, just your expectations and reactions are misguided. Telcos do allow flexibility when it comes to bill payments from time to time (like arranging to defer payment for a few days until you get paid), however, I'd imagine this is a request that they receive all too often and are simply enforcing the contractual agreements they have with customers.

As for gyms, their market is extremely competitive, thus they all offer that service since a lot of memberships are on a monthly or biannual basis. Telcos are kinda the inverse, they don't offer this because they too are in a highly competitive market, but since no one else offers it, and contracts are mostly 24 months, Optus doesn't.

I suggest you call back and tell them you'll be overseas for 3 or 4 months on business. Ask to speak to someone in Australia, not a call centre minion. I dunno, maybe it's not you to lie to save yourself the $60. I get that you think differently to most of us on this issue - it is pretty cut-throat - but that's life.

Every year I spend summer in the South Island, I always miss the heat in Queensland.

Yeah, gridiron training. Full pads and helmet over a t-shirt and then a BLACK training jersey on top. My shirt was soaked through with sweat. I woke up today feeling hungover I lost that much fluid and electrolytes.
