WGMGSFM: The job market. Applying for jobs is a pain in the arse. Some jobs you have the skills and experience but they just send you a rejection letter without proper reasoning. When you ask for reasoning, you dont get one. Other jobs you apply for and never hear from them again, even if you follow up. Its becoming extremely frustrating, im at tipping point.

I got a job offer in their (Flight Centre) online call centre, but the roster they wanted to give me was 6pm-4am.

Wouldn't work very well with my university and all. Especially since I have 8am classes. They did say they would offer me a store role but then I wouldn't be able to do my uni as I needed five days availability. Being in my last semester I cant afford to put uni on hold for a job right now. Might as well graduate and get that done with.

I guess the only calming feeling is they said if I wanted to do the store role, I could take up the offer after i finish uni. They have trainings every week. The only thing that concerned me about Flight Centre was the high staff turnover people talk about. They also work on a base + commission system. Your seat is worth a certain amount and if you not meeting that monthly target then you obviously in the firing line.

Im also hoping to try and find a job in my field, so anything in media, journalism, writing, publishing, editing, social media etc etc or even get in to the airport/airline field.

Apply for the job under a 'westernised' name. You'll get more offers purely because people are going to look at your name and be racially prejudiced.

it sounds horrific but afro is on the money. My work has hired two Indians in the last three years and they were both awful - now the boss won't even think about interviewing engineers with an indian name.

I was reading an article where a bloke sent out resumes with the same qualifications and experience, one with an arabic name, the other with an anglo name. from 50 resumes he got just 1 response to the arabic name and over 20 to the anglo name.

Yep. Lots of academics do this so they an write papers about it when they have nothing else to write and it comes time for them to cough something up :lol:

WGMG: A 20 year old girl I know who does fuck all. A girl I got to know over the summer does absolutely farkkkkkk all and just relies on everyone else around her to make her life happen.

She finished a 6 month take course (2 years out of school mind you) a few months ago and now says she's looking for a job... She got a trial at some frozen yoghurt place (casual work) but that never eventuated, so now she just refuses to get a job, and lets her mum and boyfriend do everything for her.

Really pisses me off. I was taught that when your unemployed, 'your full time job is a to find a full time job'. Obviously when your studying that doesn't always work out,but this girl does fuck all, and it's just disgusting.

WGMG: Tattoo maintenance, got my first one on Monday, and I know in 3-4 weeks its gonna be sweet but right now it's so damn frustrating. Just at the beginning of the scabing phase and keeping the lotion on it along with the bleeding ink, it's a little frustrating. Sleeping is a downright bitch as well. The only reason I'm not downright pissed is because its self inflicted.

I know a chick like that. Her parents have a fair bit of money so she's always mooched off them to get by. All she does is sit at home, go to the gym and drink her dad's alcohol - which he put under lock and key in an attempt to get her out of the house, so she learned to pick the lock rather than going out and getting a job. That or she fucks guys to get what she wants because she's pretty hot. She's a terrible person.
