Given that most students get to university and still have no idea how to do in-text referencing properly I think it's probably right that it's mandatory.

A year 12 subject that you can choose to do in year 11 if you wish. But it's completely pointless. You pick your own sort of question, on anything you want. Then you research the absolute sh*t out of it. This includes 10 or more pages of notes and what not, followed by another 3000/4000 words. Sure, it may teach you how to research. But if you are in year 11 or year 12 and you don't know how to already research well, you may as well not even be there. I know it's a compulsory subject in SA, but i've heard there's other states that don't need to do it.
/end rant. It's an optional subject in years 11 and 12 in Victoria, but nobody goes for it. Hell i'd take that, sounds fantastic. Research, 1. Find good academic journals. 2. Find good libraries. 3. stake out said libraries, take notes. 4. draft essay. Piece of piss.

And for those not planning on going to uni? Because we all know that when making vital life choices about one's future at the age of 18 nobody has ever made a mistake or changed their mind. It's still a useful skill to have in the event that you change your mind and turn to tertiary education later in life. Edited by afromanGT: 20/10/2013 04:38:11 PM

The main thing I hate with referencing is when you find an important point but forget where you got it from or can't find an adequate resource to draw that point from.

Edited by 11.mvfc.11: 20/10/2013 11:38:34 PM It's up to the FFA to make the investment in the health of the league. They need to restore referee integrity. And also evaluate their recruit and employ people suited and committed to the role.

People who deliberately light fires in dangerous fire conditions
the punishment should not be a fine, or prison
It should be The Cane!
And I shall be more than happy to dish out the lashes myself!

WGMG: my boss isn't happy with me. She thinks I didn't get enough done yesterday. The fact is I messed up one thing (not too badly, but it left her with some work to do), but the other thing she blames me for was out of my control.

Wgmg: my cousins partner committed suicide. This is 6-12months after my cousin lost his arm in a car accident. And 4 years after his mum passed away. There can only be one thing on his mind right now, and the entire extended family is working in overdrive to prevent it

There can only be one thing on his mind right now, and the entire extended family is working in overdrive to prevent it That has got to suck. I remember reading a good quote about suicide. Something along the lines of, "Suicide does not end the chances of life getting worse, it eliminates the possibility of it ever getting better". WGMG: My current job. Boss has become a real bitch and they starting to piss me off. I couldn't agree to one thing on the new roster policy so now they making me suffer by reneging on the policy and making me work shifts that they know I could not commit to when I first started. Would love to leave but still having no luck on the job search front. WGMGEM: Can never remember whether full stop comes after quotation marks or before.
