WGMG: That 15 year old in the US getting 25 to life for that police prank call. Yes a man was shot and critically woulded but FFS he's a 15 year old twat. Of course any kid raised right knows better than to do something so stupid... but no 15 year old kid deserves 25 to life for that shit.

Quote:Defense lawyers told the courtroom that Horner, who goes by the gamertag BadAssDwg69, was upset after being repeatedly beaten by a fellow gamer at Battlefield 4. After obtaining the rival gamers information, prosecutors say Horner called police and reported a murder/hostage situation at the home. SWAT team then raided the house, shooting and critically injuring the “Livestreamer’s” father in the process. This kid's stupidity almost cost someone their life. Fully deserved. Yeah I dont really feel sorry for him, A number of celebrities have been the victim of it and its just a bloody stupid thing to do, imagine if the victim of Swatting was a black man, he'd have no chance 8-[ It seems he needed to be made an example of, but having said that, 25yrs is over doing it. Surely if he had shot the dad himself he would have gotten alot less.

What was the Dad doing to make it look like he was a threat?

I agree that it was stupid and the consequences were grave, but he's 15 FFS. I 1005 think he should be under house arrest and all sorts of crap... but 25 to life?!? That's a big thing to give a 15 year old moron who made a grave error of judgement.

The call said that he would shoot any police that came in, and I don't know about you... but i wouldn't be expecting armed men to burst through my door, my reaction of shock and confusion could easily be mistaken for a threat.

Really good quote by the judge here. Quote:“Ignorance of consequence because of lack of thought absolves no one”, the Judge told Horner. “Thinking that your actions were only a prank did not make them only a prank.”

Some quotes from the article: Prosecutors played audio of Horner’s 911 phone call to the jury: “I just shot and killed four people. If any police enter my home I will kill them too,” the statement read in part. SWAT are not your average cops at all. They are meant to kill and shoot at any sign of threat due to the only being deployed in high stake situations.

Why would SWAT barge in there if the kid said he would shoot the dad if they came in ?
If it was a real situation the dad would be dead and so would the kid.

Don't they scope out a situation before they bust in though? Surely they would have done a thermal sweep or something like that first?

Nooo not quite what happened. I suspect he was pretending to be the Dad who had just killed his family.

He never said he would shoot the dad. “I just shot and killed four people. If any police enter my home I will kill them too"

You don't need the military to deal with a crazed lone gunman. The police reaction in Australia would be much more about damage limitation and being conservative. As well as probably negotiating. They would've worked out quickly it was a hoax.

As a 15 year old, i'd have laughed about doing that sort of shit, but i'd never have been stupid enough to do it.

Fuck that kid...
I've been in livestreams and seen that happen live. It's fucking scary, an armed squad of cops come in under the presumption that they're about to apprehend an armed criminal. What happens when mistakes are made and someone is shot?
I hope that sets an example.
