Today's daily outrage comes from John Hopoate who gently nudged a female tabloid journalist out of the way after she shoved a microphone under his face whilst he was walking.

The poor darling.

Australia was once again outraged.

yep . Hell the posts on their website were damning of kitty as a comedian than her comments .

He also repeatedly called her a 'fucking bitch' and shoved a male Channel 10 reporter at the top of a flight of stairs.

I'm all for calling out bullshit outrage, but in this case Hopoate deserves everything he gets :lol:

I agree and it has gotten to the stage where it's just beyond ridiculous now.

However I disagree that this is a trivial matter, Christmas is never the same once you've realized Santa isn't real. It might seem trivial to us now we're older and there are far bigger problems in the world, but finding out Santa isn't real can be devastating for kids and for once I can understand why parents are outraged over something in the media.

Tabloid journalists are not allowed to play the victim when they harass people on the street.

This reaction is exactly what they are trying to get and its the exact reason why they harass people in public. If they cop abuse, they need to take it on the chin, or find another job.

If she wants to not be called a fucking bitch then she needs to stop acting like one.

This is an epic first world problem.

Every kid finds out one way or the other. They all get over it. Most of the time, its an older child/sibling who's laughing in their face. You never see someone growing up developing mental health problems because they found out Santa wasn't real. Its not traumatic for children.

Its the parents who are outraged cos now they can't blackmail their kids into doing what they want "or santa won't come"

I agree but that doesn't mean it's not an issue, the whole Santa thing is a critical part of childhood innocence IMO, sure we all find out and grow up eventually but why speed up the process when it's not at all necessary and serves no real point at all.

If I was a parent I'd be furious, not because of the blackmailing thing you alluded to, but because I remember how much joy the santa clause lie represented for my childhood, I'd be devastated if my kid never got to experience that or had that cut unnecessarily short because some unfunny bitch tried to crack a gag tbh.

I see the holiday myths as a kids first foray into skepticism. It's pretty fun to watch.

This sounds like I'm having a conversation with an 8 year old version of myself who has just found out that Santa isn't real. It's part of the joy of Christmas, if you tell a child that Santa is not real from the beginning he's going to go around telling all of his friends and ruin it for them.

I've never understood the whole not letting kids know Santa isn't real, but that's probably because I found out when I was really young and didn't care.

People who tell kids that Santa isn't real are knobs. Society is losing it's innocence so quickly, and Santa is one of those great things that reminds everyone of simpler times.

Imagine the shock in the child's mind to find out like that.

Surely a parent is better placed to let a child down gently (at whatever age they think is appropriate) than have some little bogan shit come in over the top when the kids are starry eyed talking about Santa with a big "Santa's not real you know."
