WGMG: somehow got roped into going to a "Thermomix Party" tonight. Now the Mrs is beyond confident that we "need" one. Yeah no worries, let's just fork out 2grand to buy something that'll take the fun out of one of my favourite things to do.

Looked up Thermomix and it looks like a ridiculously overpriced blender or something.

There are probably used cars cheaper than those things, fucking hell.

If you want to invite all your friends over to your house to spend some "quality" time together and spend thousands of dollars in the process, just build a home theatre. At least that won't be ignored once the novelty wears off after a month of use and you can pretend that your intention wasn't to just show off how much disposable income you have like an absolute twat.

For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

WGMG: Well not really a WGMG, just don't know where to specifically put this. Mini rant of sorts.

Does anyone else wake up and think "what the fuck am I doing?" Not in a way where you literally forget what you're supposed to be doing (like walking into your bedroom and forget why you walked in there), but more like you don't know what you should be doing.

Every day is the same mundane shit. Wake up, go to school, come home, study for year 12 exams and repeat ad infinium. I don't enjoy the things I used to enjoy (football, video games, shitposting on various forums) and I find myself going to sleep extremely early (not in this case lol) because I simply don't care about being awake/alive. I literally couldn't care less about living any more because I have nothing to look forward to.

Is something wrong with me? (Sorry for long post)

Oh so glad my wifes circle of friends hasn't gotten into this, she'd be sucked in so quick. She has thousands of dollars worth of tupperwear... cupboards full of it and a bedroom walk in closet packed full of stuff never opened. Cannot wait for the day i can sell the useless rubbish.

I got nothing m80. Married couple disagreements aren't my expertise.

I know, "happy wife, happy life", but it just seems like such a fucking waste. Doubt that all the kitchen appliances it's replacing would cost $2k all up.

Slightly off topic, but how is your daughter doing pv4? You said that she might've gotten sick, how is she?

Mrs Heineken asked me once post-coitus, if I could get her a thermomix as a combined birthday/anniversary gift (she knew it was probably the only time I'd agree  ). I had a look at it, and I certainly raised an eyebrow. Apparently you can't buy one without getting official training from the company or something because it's so expensive, and you'd get people fucking around with it and breaking them.

My missus is really into dessert making, so I could understand why she wants one. But yeah, they're not cheap.

Mrs Slicker said about a year and a half ago and said OH I would love a YONANA maker - Which is a frozen yoghurt maker but quite fancy. I thought to myself coming into summer if that is what you want ill surprise you and go get it. So off I went and got the expensive version came with manual and recipe book and all looked great. She was shocked and loved the surprise. She only used it twice and has not since used it. We ended up selling it for 30 bucks ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

You're 18 and very intelligent (for a conservative)... the world is at your feet dude.

Develop an appreciation for beer. Stop watching porn and start making it (this is key). The next few years are awesome dude. High School is shit house.

Meet new people and take a risk with getting to know them. The sooner you separate yourself from your 'school life' the better. Ideas for that... Tinder (i'm serious), register for organised pub crawls with a mate (not many, just one, so that you're still approachable to other people), talk to strangers at parties, message dudes off this forum and meet up before an MV game for a drink or whatever.

Save some cash and get the hell out of Australia for a few months.

Mum got a Nutribullet because she wanted to make all kinds of health drinks, with milk and honey and seeds and fruits and I think there was cinnamon and other types of spices and powers in there as well.

It's hasn't been used since the Nanna's berries scare

pretty much what EG said. Get out there enjoy the world and what it has to offer. As mentioned tee up a forum member for drinks before a game. Hit the pubs and clubs up.
Don't be afraid to get out the house.
I didn't want to go to a party one night... I went .. met my now fiancé and we are getting married in JAN. I ask myself imagine if I didn't go that night.... I would of missed the biggest chance of my life....

Point is get out have fun...

Before I start i'll say that Exams are probably one of the most stressful things that you'll go through in life so I don't blame you for feeling overwhelmed at all.

Life unfortunately can get a little like that at times mate. At my age you just replace school with work. Life is full of stress that will bring you down and can really overwhelm you if you are the type that is overwhelmed easily. You need to a quick escape from the stress and the mundane in order to help overcome it.

An escape could be something as simple as taking the dog down to the park and playing fetch, going for a nice walk, going for a drive, having a beer and a good man chat with a mate (I will say though you should never drink to kill your emotions that's when addictions can happen). This sort of stuff will offer you a temporary fix while you work towards a more permanent one.

Have a look at mantherapy.com.au I really think it could help you out.

And the others that have posted while I was typing are spot on. Get out meet new people. If you want a beer and chat before any match I'm happy to facilitate.

Also 433 I have mentioned this in a number of threads already but ill say it again. 442 has the best social element of any internet forum I've associated with and I am happy to call these blokes my mates. As EG mentioned take a risk and get some mates away from school use 442 for this. I'm 29 now and there is probably only 5 blokes from school that I've stayed in contact with.

Yep, I've stayed in contact with a few more (I'm only 22), but certainly not the ones I expected

School mates are great, but 6 months out from school, you won't talk to many of them. FB group chats are changing that a little, but most of them will bugger off, or you'll bugger them off. Doesn't mean you're hostile towards each other, it just means you don't seek each other out.

All I'm saying is that you need to find ways of meeting people. Join societies at Europe. The first group assignment you get, suggest to the group that you go to the pub. Don't br a try hard, just facilitate social activity.

Actually, that's such a big thing... Be a facilitator but not the centre of attention.

It's just so unnecessary. So, so unnecessary.

This thing is going to linger for way too long.

Thermomix is one of the best things we have ever purchased. Now nearly 2 years old and still gets used 5 times a week.
We make the best tasting pizza dough in it and made that just last night actually.

A lot of money - Yes
but for someone who absolutely loves cooking like my better half then these things are well and truly worth the money.
I can even make half decent tasting food in it.

and the mash potato is simply hands down the best mash potato you will ever have in your life.

You don't need to fork out 2 grand plus to make good mash potato. A simple spud masher, some garlic, butter, milk, chives and rosemary and all of sudden random Irish people start showing up at your door saying 'tiddly-dee, potatoes'.

If there is one thing I have learnt. My fiancé being a chef if she recommends it or wants to use it. Never question the price as it must be good for her to use to make things easier and better

I've nothing against a thermomix. I'm just saying, I don't need to fork out couple of grand to make good mashed potato. I also don't mind 5 minutes of elbow work in doing so.

It also seems that some people who buy a thermomix do so just so they can say "look at me I have a thermomix"
