Wouldn't have a clue how to find out about any Year 11 house parties that are going on.

For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

Be friends with people and score invites.

Always leave a party with at least one new friend.

WGMG: I've been drafted to help organise a surprise birthday party for a good friend, and just found out the prescribed date for said party.

It's the night of the fucking derby.

Help. Is it rude to go to the football and arrive late to the party? I asked another mate for his thoughts and he reckons I'd look like a "massive cunt" (his words) - although he isn't a football fan. I reckon the girl whose birthday it is is the kind of person who might be pissed about it, but if she's drunk enough by the time I arrive I'm probably safe. I think I'd feel like a dick for it regardless.

What do I do?

It's not as if it would be a massive issue, it just feels like a bit of a dick move, and that's probably how it'd be interpreted.

Your friends must know how much you like going to games. Just don't turn up pissed or in a bad mood if the result doesn't go your way.

If you're still friends with her in 2 years, she won't even remember that you were late. Plus, you're helping organise it. She'll dig it.

Definitely go to the derby. I've been late to lots of things because of the football... including a situation similar to this. If they are slightly mature they will realise you have other things on. Its really not a big deal. Birthday partys really aren't all that important and if you are organising it and are showing up a little late, who cares.

Very much this.

It's rude in their eyes obviously, but do what you want to do and it's their problem if they get pissed with you because of small crap like that, especially if you are already organising it

First day of Year 11 tomorrow and I don't feel prepared in the slightest.

Year 11 is a joke. It's literally about learning how to party before all the 18ths roll around so that you're not a sad Tony Abbott at parties next year.

It seriously is... or was. .. in my day

Agreed, I would argue the year 11 parties were a hell of a lot better than the 18ths (That is if you went to a nightclub) house parties with booze - women - more booze and boobs is where it is at.

Edited by cityslicker10: 2/2/2016 09:10:18 AM

Good lord I miss house parties.

I have a 21st house party this weekend, but it's in a small battle axe house... Upto 100 people expected lol

Love house partys way cheaper. Buy a slab and your cruising to a good night. 60 bucks will get you into clubs these days.

If it's the same as 10 years ago when I was in high school, there would always be chatter in the class about parties going on. Make friends with those people and you'll be invited no doubt.

That was bullshit!!! Some of the guys at work had 2hr delays getting home.

I live not far from that bridge, but I took the back road behind Tamborine mountain and popped out behind the crash site.
Added an extra 25mins to the trip so I was pretty happy about that compared to what other people had to do
