Can any Sydney sider tell me if their is relegation in this league. I can't help but notice it is not a good year so far for ex NSL teams in the Sydney and Melbourne competitions. Sydney Tigers and Woolongong are both bottom and Preston and Whittlesea (Brunswick Juventus) are moth bottom in Melbourne?

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article TeleChoice Premier League Round 14 Review?
Round 14 TeleChoice Premier League action welcomed former Socceroo Mark Bosnich to the competition as the shot-stopper lined up for Sydney Olympic's clash at Bonnyrigg.

Have your say.

i can only talk about the NSW Premier League.
yes there is a relegation system. however its not necessarily the last place team gets relegated.
last year blacktown city came last. yet macarthur were relegated. this was apparently due to financial difficulties that macarthur were facing. and now blacktown city have issues.

now to the onfield action. i watched blacktown city vs marconi. i must say marconi were lucky to score literally a few seconds before half time to equal the score, though it was a very nice goal. from the second half marconi got 2 early goals and that was it. but blacktown did show they can mix it up with the top 5.

yesterday i also went to watch PCYC Parramatta Eagles vs Bonnyrigg in the Tiger Turf cup. i dont know if both teams fielded their strongest side but you could see the difference in level between the state league and premier league. bonnyrigg were forunate to get a penalty and were 1-0 up at half time. there were very few clear cut chances but Para did have their opportunities. then bonnyrigg scored a nice volley with about 10 minutes remaining and it was all over.

yeah. but its not necessarily the last team in the premier league gets relegated.
and first in the super league gets promoted.

bonnyrigg were promoted last year, yet they did not come first. though i think they might have won the tiger turf cup. so maybe that might have something to do with it????
and for the relegated team, well i trully cant figure it out. as far as i know it goes in two steps to determine the relegated team:
1. if a team is finanically in trouble and can not pay what it needs, then that team is relegated (as seen last season).
2. if all the teams are financially stable, then the last place will get relegated.
thats what i think happens, though i am not sure.

no mate, there is no promotion/relegation system in place, the rams went down cause of money issues so another team came up and that was bonnyrigg, It all comes down to a set critiria that all teams have to abide by in order to play state league and as you go higher in level the critia gets tougher, things like - fencing around the pitch, lighting, do you have enough money, etc etc, and bonnyrigg ticked all the boxers so they got promoted, penrith nepean never won the comp when they got promoted they just ticked all the boxers to quailfy for the top league, so the only reason a team will go down next season is money issues, i.e blacktown if they dont pick up there act, and if thats the case all the teams from super league will have a chance to submit there application to go up if they tick all the boxers, Yes on field performance does contribute to going up or not but its not everything, this is the same to every state league division all the way to confrence, they have strict critira they have to abide by but its not as tough as premier league's.
