I never found people like Russell Brand to be very funny as a comedian. Can stick to the acting. I always felt he was one of those people who became famous by sleeping with famous people and basically doing all those things that are bad role models etc etc.

I've read both his books and he is pretty lucky to be where he is at the moment due to his junkie background. His humour is very sexual and his demur is effeminate. I think there are funnier comedians but Russell is fairly unique with his type of comedy. I find him very funny. He definitely didn't become famous by sleeping with influential women. His fame is infamy and he sort of used his negative exposer to his advantage to be where he is today.

I remember seeing him on the Graham Norton show earlier this year. He made a very good point about celebrities, and said something along the lines of "I think everyone is too obsessed with celebrity these days, and their obsession with them means they appear in the news more often, which in turn means people focus more on celebrity and less on more important topics like climate change and poverty and war".

Im not sure if he is doing anything, and if he is then i applaud him, but its all too easy to make that statement meanwhile after the show you go back to your big mansion and watch your big screen tv whilst you have some hot girl bring you a drink.

Like i said, i may be wrong, Russell may actually be doing a lot, but their are many celebrities who say these things but then dont even bother to lift a finger to do anything.

Because celebrities WANT to be in the news. The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

Brand is an annoying twat when he's trying to be funny, but he's a fair decent actor.

That being said zimbos, there is a message behind his show (I Am a Walrus)and if you can filter out all the sexual innuendo! He is from the school of thought that the sooner the human race breaks down all it's state lines and nationalism and the sooner we all recognise that we are all Earthlings sharing this rock together the quicker we can evolve to the next phase of human evolution.
