Just off the wires:
Quote:
Socceroos striker Mark Viduka is on the verge of a move to English Premier League side West Ham, according to reports in the British media.

Viduka, who is currently a free agent after his contract with Newcastle expired at the end of last season, had been the subject of recent interest from Fulham and Portsmouth.

However, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson revealed last month the 33-year-old was ready to quit England after a nine-year stint which has included spells with Leeds and Middlesbrough, to play in Croatia.

But according to the Daily Mail, Viduka is now in talks with West Ham, and a club statement said Hammers coach Gianfranco Zola is 'discussing the possibility of an out of contract striker joining the club.'

There's a lot of out-of-contract strikers around at the moment. eg/ Dwight Yorke and David Connolly were both released by Sunderland during the summer (neither are good enough, but at least they're both interested in playing football).

Precisely. No mention of him training since April either. It would be nice if it was a cut & dried retirement.

It's also possible that West Ham were talking about Jan Vennegor-of-Hesselink, out of contract since the summer and just signed for Hull - as he was available at the time of the statement.

Like Kev said,i'm not holding my breath about it either, Dukes and Lucas Neil have pretty much been linked to every club under the sun. I won't accept it untill the deals done, and he;s played at least 10 games straight for them

I thought Dukes was more into sailing these days? I honestly can't recall ever two Australian high profile players taking an eternity to find clubs before??
Is Dukes interested or not? Or is he not even bothered to release a press statement so his fans are in the picture?
The same goes with Neill. If he keeps procrastinating any longer the January transfer window will open!!
