Can we get something written into the coding that lets us know which threads we have posted in. Possibly a little asterick in the little picture next to the thread?

Also what are the chances of getting a better search function?

You can try subscribing to the thread that you want to keep track of by clicking Options at the top of the thread, and then Watch this Topic in the little popup that... pops up. This will send you an email everytime someone posts in that thread (it seems to work often enough... for me anyway). Only once between each time you read the thread though, i.e. if a thread has 50 new posts that you haven't read, you'll only get emailed once until you actually view the thread. Then when you actually view the thread, it resets it so you'll get the email again, rinse, repeat.

You can view/manage all your subscriptions (and see if new posts have been made) via your "Manage Subscriptions" page (which can also be found under the "My Profile" link at the top right).

You can also search for posts "posted by" anyone as well, i.e. you. That seems to work well enough compared to the regular search.

Otherwise, there's very little chance any custom little hacks will be made to enable this functionality (it'd be pretty database intensive, which would make things slower).

I agree that it's useless, but realistically, as per above, it won't be getting hack fixed anytime soon. If you really need to search the forums, your best bet is probably Google. You can search specific sites in Google by preficing your search with site:.

e.g. typing in "site:http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums socceroos" into a Google search will just search the FourFourTwo Forums for "socceroos". (this of course works for any other site as well)

No, it's beyond useless, there is no hope for it. Drop something very heavy on it because it serves no purpose other than to piss me off and read articles from March 2007.
