A friend of a friend who knows a bit about the financial structure at Heart tells me the club will have the colours of black and white. Solid black with white trimming home vise versa away.

So did I. But this bloke works for the accounting firm they are currently using and was involved in a meeting with the marketing people or so he says.

Black and White would be a mistake for the Heart, too closely aligned with Collingwood in Victoria, Red ( even Red and White stripes) would be a better choice IMO.

A club controlled by the manager of Eddie Maguire and Mick Malthouse, playing in black and white... Mnnnnn, interesting.
Perhaps the decision which is to be made by the public has already, in fact, been made by the franchise owners.

I'm hoping the go with something more classy than Black with white trim. My 3 choices:
1. Burgundy with Gold/White trim w/white shorts- Similar to Sparta Prague, easily marketable. The Arsenal 05/06 Strip is my favourite in my collection. 2. Red & Black hoops w/white shorts - Have you seen Flamengo's strips? Awesome!! 3. Green & Red Stripes - Just copy Fluminense, an iconic strip.

It could work well for them, like I know a lot of Collingwood supporters who say if they ever followed football would follow NUFc or Juventus just because of the stripes, now a new Melbourne team could attract a lot of Collingwwod fans. I have always pictured the Heart playing in either red and white stripes or hoops or some sort of red/burgundy and gold kit

i think if they are structuring themselves as 'melbourne heart', then they should seriously look into the opportunity of linking up with Hearts of Midlothian in Scotland. Adopt their colours, it would be like Salzburg and New York. And with they young aussies they have in their system, a few potential signings or loanees for their first season?

How about either red or maroon with a gold heart and either white trims. Reverse for away top with gold heart.

Salzburg and New York are both owned by Red Bull - neither wears 'traditional' colours, they are both walking adverts for the owner's product. As for Heart of Midlothian - well, Heart CLAIM they aren't going to be called Heart, so it would be a pointless link up. If they are going to model their colours on any club it should be an extremely popular one, rather than one of marginal interest like Hearts. Blood red like Liverpool, for example. The actual colours and name are unimportant though - the issue of interest is now more around whether these colours and the name are going to be selected by the 'fans', and how the decision will be made (will a selection of names and colours be offered, or will it be an open vote, etc.).

It seems as the second Melbourne soccer team is going to be red and white vertical stripes and I find that BORING! Also good decision making is a function of thoroughly understanding and using the findings of the research, carefully weighing the various recommendations made, taking experience as a guide, and recognizing the organisational culture and the values of the system. There are too many other clubs with that design and instead I think it should be something orginial and distinctive from Melbourne Victory's navy and white but still uniquely Victorian.
I'd suggest the second Victorian A-league team colours to be Orange and Grey - like the V/Line train colours throughout the 80s and 90s. That would be something uniquely Victorian.
I currently don't have any connection to a team in the A-League but if this second Melbourne team can not have an interesting colour scheme I will not follow them.
I'm not sure what the final decison for the offical name for the club would be but a personal suggestion would be the:
Victoria Voltage
(simular lightening masoct to Port Power - lighting bolt/volt resembling electricity/power)

Victoria Voltage......that's more disgusting than seeing Magda Szubanski naked! That's so bad I will harm myself with plastic cutlery if they adopt that name. "Let's go Voltage, Lets go" .......that would sure draw the punters, especially those with an IQ lower that 20.

If it has to be red and white then I hope they make it red and white hoops. I couldn't bring myself to support a team with the same kit as Sunderland.

I thought they were in negotiation with Moonee VAlley Council for a base of sorts in Essendon. Red and Black always look cool, anyway you design eg stripes ala AC Milan, Hoops, half and half, a V like ManU and good contrast with Melb Victory

I read in my local paper that they're talking to Casey council about having casey feilds as their training ground.

You won't follow a team because they don't have your favourite colour. What are you 7 years old?

I never said that. I won't like it but I will still barrack for them. I go for FC Cartagena in the Spanish second division and they're black and white.
