Why don't fish and chip shops wrap your order in Newspaper anymore?. Heck, most places don't even use butcher paper too. Everything now comes in these boring fold-in-the-sides carboard boxes.

Probably changing food service standards. Newspaper would have people worrying about the newspaper ink getting on the food, and butchers paper is probably pretty wasteful. Not to mention now you don't have to worry about the grease soaking through the paper.

It's also cheaper, provides a better 'experience' for the customer regardless of if they are going home or eating it straight away. It can also be used much easier for non-chip items.
