dont think theyd want him at barca. they play a high pressure game in the forward line, all three do a lot of work when the opponents get the ball. i dont see viduka busting his (sizable) gut to pressure defenders, even in his prime.
even if viduka is the best hold up player in the world (he certainly isnt), opponents will figure him out pretty quickly because he'll be predictable. they wont be worried about him beating them for pace or playing a killer pass anymore, because he just faces backwards and provides 'little flicks' as seriously said.

Load of tosh. How can they figure him out. if they cant get around him. He got ridiculous upperbody strength and not only that, hes quite heavy. If liverpool, aston Villa, Tottenham, Fulham etc boro defenders cant "figure him out" (whatever thats supposed to mean). Anyhow any flick on Viduka does it just a bonus to his already his brilliant hold-up play. If he cant find the killer pass he will just lay it off to Kewell, Emo or cahill. Thats something that Kennedy and Mcdonald cant do. Because they are too lanky and simply havent got the skill. or too short and are not suited to that role. how cant you understand that? if he has only one aspect to his play then he is predictable. predictability means opponents can anticipate his actions and take action to defend against it. in other words, if opponents know that all viduka can do is get thw ball played to his feet/chest and he'll lay it off to others, they'll just mark him out.
goose. you greatly overestimate viduka, i doubt you actually think he's as good as you say, you've just backed him so much to so many people you have to stick with it. give it up. hes a decent hold up player with a nice touch, not pele. get over it.

So why didnt they mark him out in his last run for Newcastle? Or rather, why couldnt they?

Probably because they weren't expecting him to do anything worth while at all. He'd just come back from a massive lay-off, so they would have been focusing on Martins or Owen. If he actually starts playing well for a club, he'll be marked out of the game, like Sammy said.

Thats the aim. if they try to mark Viduka out of the game, then it opens up for our mid fielders. His aim is to draw defenders and hold up play when he can. And you are missing the point. Viduka is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mcdonald>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>kennedy. Hes the best option we have to play alone up front. No qualms about it. Kennedy sucks, and couldnt even make it in a bottom league bundesliga team. And Mcdonald is not suited to a lone-striking role. That worked at Newcastle, because they were playing with 3 strikers. So they couldn't just focus on him. But as a lone striker, 2 defenders sole role in the game will be following every step he takes. But that still doesn't open up anything for our midfielders because that still leaves another 2 defenders plus the oppositions midfield to cover any of our midfielders. And with 2 of them generally playing defensively, it's not that hard. He does do the hold up thing well. But in a lone striker role, it's not going to be as effective as you think.

What im trying to say is Mcdonald and Kennedy dont even come close. So even if he isnt effective (as you say), he is 100000000000X better than kennedy or mcodnald as an option

Fair enough. I'd still rather see Australia change their game play than try and get Viduka back though.

seriously, youve finally started making sense. yes, viduka is a good player and it would be good to have him back, i dont think many would disagree with that.
its when you start saying things like hes better than drogba etc. you stumble across argument. isnt it nice when we're all friends? :d :d

Hence the need for Viduka. I really believe if Viduka could get a 6 month contract with the prem sides that chased him up before, we can make it through our group comfortably. I really dont have a hope for Kennedy and Mcdonald is atm not even being considered for SA!!!! because he simply wont suit lone striker. The best formation i would have played would have been Mcdonald and Viduka up front. ----------------------------------------Viduka-------------------------- ------------------------------Mcdonald------------------------------------ ---------Kewell---------------------------------------------Bresciano------- ---------------------------------------------Cahill----------------------------- --------------------------------Grella--------------------------------------- ----------Chipperfield-----------Moore------Neill-------------Emerton-------- -------------------------------Schwarzer------------------------------------- Edited by seriously: 26/12/2009 10:35:58 AM

yeah but you lose a lot in the air up front with that.. at least kennedy provides an aerial option. id rather cahill sitting behind, i know its obvious but it works. mcdonald supposedly gets goals but cahill definitely does, he can be relied on.

And we would be much better off playing a style that suits the Australians we have that are actually fit and playing.

Benjo, Mus, Joffa = Nobodies in football world
Paul Hart, Roy Hodgson, Redknapp, Shearer, Cahill, Verbeek, Kewell, Schwarzer, Fergie among many others, All somebodies who rate Viduka enourmously.
Credibility Verdict:
3 Stooges: Nil
Managers, Players and former players : alot higher than the 3 stooges
Result:
Tards make fools of themselves.
Case closed.

yes Legend. For any negatives people throw up about him in the NT shirt we haven't had a player of this ability since up front period. The highlights real is always to die for, I can even keep watching the 4 he put past LFC back then.
