Guys - Those of you who are interested. Heart have just released information about how to register priority seating at MRS for Heart Games. These memberships will go out 2 weeks before general public. On a side note - It actually has a couple of pages on the club's "vision" which is an interesting read. You can read more about it here: Priority seating / membership

Hi Everyone, As the club has canceled their official function this Friday - we've decided to run a replacement function at the home of the supporters association - The Imperial Hotel. All the details about the event are available here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=114118418622289Most importantly - The supporters association has managed to arrange for John Van't Schip to attend the event - This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get to meet the coach of our club. Additionally, we are trying to line up a couple of the players to come along, but nothing has been confirmed yet. If you are attending, please update the Facebook event, so we can judge numbers. Thanks! Edited by forbze: 27/4/2010 11:51:49 AM

Bon Jovi Announced As Heart's #1 International Ticket HolderSaturday, 24 July 2010 Melbourne Heart FC's Number 1 International Ticket Holder, Jon Bon Jovi. While his blonde locks and slick rock moves have made him a pop superstar, Jon Bon Jovi’s latest visit to Melbourne resonates with the lyrics of his monster hit, “Living on a Prayer” as he aims to give something special to the battlers among his legion of loyal followers. In announcing his new role as #1 International Ticket Holder for Melbourne’s new A League side, Melbourne Heart FC, Bon Jovi has decided to keep the faith with those who don’t enjoy his rock star good fortune and to make his association “mean something real to the fans”. Bon Jovi has purchased 4 premium memberships to the Heart and will donate the prized seats for each home game at AAMI Park to football fans who don’t have the financial means to be able to afford to watch their favourite sport in the atmosphere of a live arena. A lifelong sports fan, Bon Jovi was involved until recently in the AFL – not our AFL – but the Arena Football League in the US as one of the owners of professional arena (indoor) football team, The Philadelphia Soul. Obviously keen to score the poetic sporting quinella, his new partnership, dare we say it, adds Heart to his Soul. While he’ll be filling seats on his sell out Australian concert tour later this year, Jon Bon Jovi decided on an original take on the favoured ticketholder role and is hoping to fill some seats at the Heart’s new home with fans who share his passion for sport but who wouldn’t normally get anywhere near the VIP seats. As he explained: “I like to think I pour my heart into whatever I do, so supporting Melbourne Heart FC seemed pretty natural, but I wanted to see if I could share that feeling a little….especially with Heart fans that maybe have the heart, but not the opportunity to show their support.” With record sales in excess of 130 million worldwide, a second career as a movie and TV actor and as an inductee of the American Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, Jon Bon Jovi’s fame Is highly visible. Less well know is his long involvement with a range of philanthropic causes including his own Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. Bon Jovi’s charity involvements and fundraising efforts particularly focus on building homes and access to opportunity for the poor, homeless or displaced, and his initiative to bring deserving Melbourne Heart FC fans to the game they love reflects his ongoing work. Details on how fans can apply to use the Bon Jovi VIP tickets will be available from Monday on www.melbourneheartfc.com.au. http://www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=34338

Big game today against GCU. Have a good feeling about this one, although we have some injuries & suspension. Having Thommo back gives us more of an attacking threat in the middle. Hopefully we don't start with Sibon, Aloisi & Terra all on the park as we'll get over-run.
Guessing the line-up will be:
--------------Bolton------------- Marrone-Beauchamp-Colosimo-Behich --------------Hamill------------- --------Thompson----Kalmar------- Zahra----------Sibon---------Worm
Subs: Zois, Aloisi, Terra, Hoffman

Quote:Heart Maintains Youth Focus With Zahra SigningWednesday, 29 December 2010 Melbourne Heart FC's Adrian Zahra in action against Everton FC. Melbourne Heart FC has demonstrated its continued focus on promoting local talent by signing Victorian rising star Adrian Zahra to the Club’s permanent roster. Currently on an injury replacement deal covering for Eli Babalj, Zahra’s impressive debut season has prompted Heart to sign the 20-year-old to a two-year contract, starting in 2011/12. Head Coach John van ‘t Schip said he has been impressed by Zahra’s athleticism and endeavour since joining the Club as a triallist. “Adrian has achieved the opportunity to become a professional through hard work and persistence,” he said. “He joined us initially on a trial basis, and since then, has shown he has the all-round qualities, both technically and physically. “Our Club is committed to providing a pathway for Victorian footballers. Adrian’s signing shows there is local talent available if you are prepared to give them a chance and work with them.” Zahra’s signing marks a meteoric rise for the Victorian Premier League’s Under 21 Player of the Year, who made his first Hyundai A-League appearance in the inaugural Melbourne Derby in October. Since forcing his way into Heart’s starting line-up, Zahra has developed into an integral member of the Club’s attacking third, his pace and mobility regularly troubling opposition defences. The Heart technical staff have also been encouraged by Zahra’s versatility and undoubted capacity to be fielded in a variety of positions across the park. Details Adrian Zahra D.O.B: 24 September 1990 Position: Utility Hyundai A-League Appearances: 15 Hyundai A-League Goals: 2 Previous Clubs: North City Lions, Melbourne Knights http://www.melbourneheartfc.com.au/default.aspx?s=aleague_newsdisplay&id=37802

Quote:Melbourne Heart use spare cash to start search for new striker as John Aloisi set to move to coaching Melbourne Heart are likely to have a war chest for next season to invest in a striker with an elite pedigree as a number of the club's most senior and best-paid players are unlikely to continue beyond this campaign. The Heart, who have six games left to play and the potential of finals, will lose John Aloisi, will almost certainly see Josip Skoko join him in retirement, expects defender Dean Heffernan to ask for a transfer and could yet let marquee striker Gerald Sibon go when the club's first season ends. Combined, the money made available in the salary cap by their departures would enable the club to hunt for a distinguished striker. Heart football operations manager John Didulica said overseas marksmen were becoming more affordable because of the strengthening of the Australian dollar and deflation in the European football market. "The way the European football market and European economic situations are, clubs there, particularly in the second-tier leagues, just can't absorb the high wages they once could," Didulica said. "So for a lot of clubs, even in the championship in England or in Italy or the Dutch, French and Belgian leagues, the capacity to pay the premium wages isn't what it once was. My reading of that is that there will be a glut of players on the open market in June, July and even August. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. "It's a perfect opportunity for Australian clubs with a decent amount of salary cap room, especially with the Australian dollar's rise, to be really confident about the quality of player we bring over here." Aloisi will cross over as planned to a coaching role for the 2011-12 A-League season and Skoko, Heart's Australian marquee player, has strongly indicated that, at 35, he is likely to draw his distinguished career to a close. Heffernan, a Socceroo not 12 months ago, is contracted for next season but has not started for almost three months and is thought likely to seek a first-team opportunity elsewhere. Sibon's situation is less clear. The elegant Dutchman has netted six goals in his time with the Heart and his distribution has often been of a high order. He indicated that he would like to stay on for another season. And yet he is 36 years of age and of late has been making a contribution from the bench as a concession to his years. "Gerald is on a one-year deal and there are still a couple of chapters of this season to be written before we think about a second season, for anyone coming out of contract," Didulica said. "That said, we can't resile from the fact we have to consider not only where a player's body is at today but where it is likely to be in 12 months. "We all know how arduous, with the travel involved, the A-League season is." There is certain to be some room created in the Heart's cap, though. "It puts us in a good position, going into next season, if guys like Aloisi, Skoko and Gerald decide that it's it for them. It means we can be bullish about bringing in a quality attacking player. "If those three were to retire, it would free up a lot of the football budget to look for an established goal scorer. "We've already got Alex Terra contracted for next season. We haven't seen the best of him this year but there have been glimpses of a really high quality finisher, and we've got young Ali Babalj who we think will continue to improve. "But if we could add a cherry on the cake, it would obviously be a real plus." http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/melbourne-heart-use-spare-cash-to-start-search-for-new-striker-as-john-aloisi-set-to-move-to-coaching/story-e6frf4gl-1225983380360

I'm guessing Sibon will be retained on non marquee wages, plus Babalj, Terra, Worm, Ibrahim and Zahra to be fighting for the spots in the forward 3. 1 more attacking player to be added to the mix would be fine. My number 1 priority would be to see a quality ball winning midfielder brought in, someone in the Jonas Salley mould that would shield the defence.

I'm interstae on my clubs end of season trip (Gold Coast) so won't be heading along.
I think the thread was hard to find because someone opened a thread called Melbourne Heart Official Thread 2010-11 season or something like that so people stopped typing noto this thread.
Really excited by the new season. Who do you think with take Hearts set pieces this season - no Sibon and no Aloiso? I didn't get to many pre-season matches and most of them were near youth sides so keen to hear your thoughts on this - we didn't score a lot from set pieces last year so it's definitly an area we can improve.

It's the Youth Team who are playing the AIS tomorrow at family day not the senior team. But nonetheless should be a good match, the youth team played Ringwood today and won 17-1 !!! the match tomorrow should give us a better indication of the competition in the NYL
also, senior team played a select XI from Langwarrin today and won 1-0 with Fred being the scorer which is good to see. Terrible conditions to play in, the pitch was a chop-up, but at least we managed to push through that and get the win in the end and keep a clean sheet.

Great weather for the family day today. I only managed to get there for the last half hour so missed most of it. But it looked like a good turn-out again at La Trobe.
Tipping Dugandzic as the player who will emerge and have a big year.
