Clint Bolton on TWG just stated barring any unforseen problems Garcia will be signed.

Quote: A bit of breaking A-League news that you might've seen on our twitter account.
Eli Babalj might be on his way back to the A-League after his coach in Serbia Robert Prosinecki was sacked earlier today. We understand Red Star Belgrade are yet to complete their transfer payment to Melbourne Heart.

i heard he's still contracted to heart, but not too sure on the technicalities of it.
To have Babalj, Tadic, Garcia, Dugandzic, Williams, Mebrahtu and Macallister as our striking options would be great

haha... imagine being asked to do that on a visit to a show. Well played JA! Anyone know of who the next few signings are likely to be? Not really that long to go and we still have abit to go to fill the squad. I'm hoping a few NYL players get a senior contract. Looking forward to seeing how things pan out.

think there's only going to be 2 more signings who will be youth signings, and we'll be heading into the season with a squad of 21 which gives us room to top up when needed

Quote:Melbourne Heart media mogul set to depart
Monday, 27 August 2012 8:41 AM
Melbourne Heart announced the departure of their media linchpin, Simon Chiarelli, from the club today. Chiarelli leaves the club by mutual consent after a two and half year spell in the thick of press and media operations, and goes on to work in the law world.
Michael Lynch of The Age had this to say:
"Ah, Simon Chiarelli...I'd like to say I taught him everything he knew. But I did my best to dissuade him from ever entering the media profession,
"My time with Simon goes back seven or eight years, when he was a tall but rather fat young fellow who stood on the sidelines at Doncaster Rovers training ground watching his young brother Stefan train in the under 13s.
"I stood alongside, watching my youngest son Eugene, as the two were team-mates, and fielded many, many questions from Simon about how to enter the trade.
"As I said, I tried to put him off, but there was as much chance (back then, anyway) of that happening as him dumping his beloved Milan. "Now he's still tall, but slimmer than slim, and it sounds like he has had a change of mind and decided to bale out after all. Given the carnage in the media industry, who can blame him?
"I wish him all the best in the future, and thank him for his professionalism and assistance while he has been the Heart's media go to man."
The club would like to thank Simon for all the support and endless endeavor shown to the Melbourne Heart brand of football and culture. He has left a legacy of Australian and global football stats as well as the positive media influence the club keeps today.
Good luck Simon!

If you remember last season we had Madaschi and Reid on guest/injury stints even though we had a full squad of 23 players. Both of them, especially Madaschi, did well for us, and it would have been good to sign at least one of them for the rest of the season but given that our squad was full last season we couldn't do that. So going by that, the club has decided to keep at least 2 spots open this season so that if we have a guest stint player who does well for us, we'll be able to sign him on a permanent deal. It also helps to avoid what happened with the Craig Goodwin situation in him heading to newcastle, and again if we had free spots in the roster last season he probably would still be at heart.

Quote:Heart to tackle Peninsula Select on Sunday Wednesday, 12 September 2012 3:25 PM On the back of the Club’s week-long camp in northern New South Wales a fortnight ago, Heart will travel south to Langwarrin to face a Peninsula XI side this Sunday. Heart secured a penalty shootout victory against the Western Sydney Wanderers in its last pre-season hit out in Lismore, while this weekend’s game will provide an opportunity for the club to engage with the Mt Eliza community. Sunday’s match will conclude a weekend junior football festival, which will involve nine local clubs from across the Peninsula; Mt Eliza Junior Soccer Club, Rosebud Heart Junior Soccer Club, Langwarrin SC, Seaford United SC, Skye United SC, Baxter SC, Casy Kings FC, Casey Comets FC and Mornington SC, while Port Melbourne SC is also competing. President of Mount Eliza Junior Soccer Club and festival organiser Pete McLoughlin predicts there will be an increase on the 370 kids who participated in last year’s event, to more than 500 across the two days this year. Heart will warm up against the Peninsula side before its final pre-season hit-out against Perth Glory on Saturday 22 September. Mebrahtu scored from a free kick, and Macallister knocked home a fumble from their keeper.

From the Melbourne Heart FC Facebook Page: IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON FLARES AND SUPPORTER BEHAVIOUR: With the season nearly under way, we wanted to pass on a message to our supporters to ensure we have their utmost safety at Heart & everyone can enjoy all our games. The club has a zero tolerance policy for anti-social behaviour and behaviour that has the potential to harm others. Specifically, the use of flares at matches will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences: - Possession, ignition or throwing of flares will incur a 5-year ban for a first offence on an individual from Football Federation Australia - The ban covers Hyundai A-league, friendly matches, International fixtures, NYL and W-League matches - You could receive a maximum fine of $4,900 per flare Victoria Police have informed both Melbourne teams that the use of flares may constitute a serious criminal offence & they retain the right to intervene in the crowd in a high profile way - if such a dangerous incident occurs. We appreciate all the fans support on this and we can't wait to get the season started. Great Response on Fed Square yesterday: you can get your memberships easily online here: https://premier.sportsubs.com.au/aleague/heartYour team at heart.

Derby summary
Great start to the season both in terms of result and performance. Tactically we seemed spot on and gave the Victory defence no relief all night. We really should've had the game sewn up well before Archie skied his 90th min attempt.
Was impressed by Garcia (to think he's played most his career as a winger) and Fred. Dmac was super and has really wiped any thought that we'll miss Babalj... great business for $500k. Was impressed by Williams running but his finishing will need a bit more work. Marrone and Behich were both able to get further forward mainly because the forward press put on by those further upfield but they will be exposed every so often throughout the year. Colosimo and Gerhardt looked solid enough for a new partnership. Bolton... make the easy look hard and the hard look easy.
Hope the win transfers into good numbers for next week... which we absolutely MUST put in a great performance and WIN. Sick of our home record of the past few seasons. Sadly we've got a bad record of backing up great away results with poor home games.
All in all, great to get one over the Dockers. P7 W3 D3 L1.

I'm assuming Wanchors, but i'll wait for clarification first :P Speaking of clarification, WTF was the meaning behind the sign held up by Yarraside before the game. Nobody could make any sense of it in the area I was sitting (Heart or Victory fans) in the end it just came across as embarrassing.
