The club will still be in the media this time next week, when Harry is red and white.

Maybe he`s already in Melbourne ?

What happens if he signs and the Socceroos lose their next 2 games...

The club need to do something this season.

Either compete for top 2, or get a big name marquee.

Or do both.

Sadly (on account of 9 other teams) they cannot control the top 2 finish but they can control the marquee situation. As I've said previously a marquee is not a silver bullet...
Problem is things are so on edge at the club that if they get the wrong marquee and finish outside of the finals they will be in a worse situation than they are now.

While they cannot control what other clubs do they can (and must) sort out their entire football department (rather than hope a marquee will bail them out) to ensure they first get the best out of what and who they have... You can't tell me that if Williams, Golgol, Duganzic, Garcia and (assuming he comes) Harry play to their potential we are not good enough for a home final minimum!

Do this and we don't need a marquee for media attention in May!

Go Heart!

Memberships on sale now at the Heart website.

Interesting to see they have finally allowed some GA tickets on the wings this year so the cameras can actually see the crowd.

Good to see the club realised it was crazy having the away support near the linesman too.

Yeah, definitely. I particularly like that people with a general admission ticket can sit closer to the halfway line subsequently pushing the premium B ticket holders further along allowing them the opportunity to sit closer to the halfway line. Hopefully it all pays off and will look good on the TV for all those SBS matches

He's been on these forums for years. Has done a little bit on the media front with the club and has obviously convinced someone to get him a kit...he doesn't even have boots on as you can see. Good on him though, he's a top bloke.

Kewell just had a kick around with a few kids today. Tomorrow he has his first training session with the team. It's at AAMI Park and it's closed to the public.

Friday is the first open training session that Kewell will participate in.

No fitness or injury concerns at all. He looked good and pretty fit out there, but Kewell and Wielaert, the two players who only arrived in Melbourne and started training a few days ago, only trained for a bit longer than an hour.

Kewell had an aura class about him, and was excellent on the ball and with passing. He maybe wasn't very fast, but hopefully he'll be quicker when he completes more pre-season.

Initial signs regarding Kewell were all pretty good, really.

So thus far looked every bit a wise pick-up at $48k then... let's hope he's still fit come 10 months time!

Duganzic and mebratu looked pretty promising imo, williams really needs to work on his touch to get a starting spot on the wings. Murdocca showed good touch and class but was poor in front of goal but i dont think that scoring is really part of his game really anyway.

Thanks. Good summary.

Duganzic is the forgotten man of the A-league. A goal in the derby would be just the start to his season... I'll be shot down for saying this but he's a possible smokey for Brazil if he can get his fitness, form and finishing up to his capability.

Williams is the nicest bloke but man he'd be a nightmare to coach! Chocolates to boiled lollies back to chocolates back to boiled lollies in the space of 15mins! Don't think the league has a player like him. His best and worst are just so far apart.

No surprise on Murdocca. I'd almost go so far as to say I'd put my house on him not scoring this season.

I second every assessment by tbitm.

I'd also say that Kalmar looked real good all around, but was especially good on the ball (as he has been historically). I'm hoping that Kalmar can have a very good season, so we can play Kalmar at AM and give Kewell a go as a LW, which would give us a front 4 of:

Kewell----Mebrahtu----Dugandzic
-----------Kalmar--------------

If Williams doesn't rise to his potential, I think this could well be our best front 4, based on our current squad.

agree Kalmar was looking quite good today too, never realised how big he was till we got up close to him.

I also tried to have a look at Ramsay given he's a new player in the practice game at the end and i think he will take a bit of time to get used to LB. He did well going forward but would get a but ahead of himself and he'd go too far forward that he just way out of position even more than Behich would get occasionally. but given it's only like the 3rd week of training he'd just be getting used to it himself so I won't get too worried just yet. I think he definitely has the speed and the skill to replace Behich though.

I know he probably wont get too much game time given the competition for spots up front, but i actually thought Dmac was quite good in front of goals today. With the right midfield feeding him balls i think he could be a nice super sub.

Williams still will probably have a role to play this season even if he isn't starting. IIRC, he would always change the game when he came on as a sub and sometimes that is vital when we're playing shit and cant get much possession which we often do

Good initiative, but hard to take any talk of growth seriously when the numbers have been consistently skewed by the free tickets you give away at the majority of games.
