I don't expect too many of Heart's fans to drop off on account of name and ownership changes. Queensland Roar with their new owners made no difference to that clubs support.
The hardcore 6-7k that endured last season (and parts of seasons before) should finally relish the chance to supportva team with genuine ambition.
I am a Melbourne Citizen.

I am a Melbourne Citizen. It's a very different scenario from both Quensland Lions to Queensland Roar and then to Brisbane Roar. The identity, name, colours, badge and ideology are totally different now. Maybe Heart have just been so terrible that fans are prepared to give up on 4 years and start again with a new team but if the same happened to any other club in the league there would be outrage.

I know its a deliberate bait but I'm biting. Not giving up at all. The club has new owners short of restarting a club under the melb heart name earning an aleague license re-capturing 75% of the existing playing and coaching roster then there's really no choice but to either follow city, follow victory or follow nothing. Qld is a bit different but not that much. A new owner a new name. Same training and playing venue same squad. Can't help the logo and other stuff (as mentioned above) but its a reasonable compromise to have same strip away, incrp same colours and heart logos.

While I am not legally allowed to divulge my sources on this forum it appears that Lampard will be a Melburnian this season. Welcome!

Quote:Chelsea legend Frank Lampard reportedly set to join David Villa in A-League with Melbourne Cityhttp://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/chelsea-legend-frank-lampard-reportedly-set-to-join-david-villa-in-aleague-with-melbourne-city/story-fnk6pqhd-1226973205222THE feelgood factor in the A-League is about to hit fever pitch. Only weeks after Spanish superstar David Villa was confirmed for a 10-game stint with Melbourne City comes a report from London that Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is about to join him. Lampard, who was part of England failed World Cup campaign in Brazil, joined new Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC after drawing the curtain on a decorated career at Stamford Bridge. But as the season will not start until March next year, The Mirror is reporting that his new employer - Manchester City supremo Sheik Mansour - wants him to stay fit with a stint with their new Australian purchase. Lampard will reportedly arrive in time for the start of the season. more to follow

Edited by lastbroadcast: 1/7/2014 08:28:14 AM I believe a team can only have one guest player per season so lampard would become int marquee even if it means he leaves early. Would be a shame if they can't hold onto him till at least the end of the season

Unless they got him here on a loan from NYCFC.
Otherwise yes, he'd have to be marquee.

So maybe they will get over 10,000 after all
In all seriousness, the first derby is going to be intense. Will sell out Etihad no doubt

What's Loan got to do with it ? He can be Int Marquee, then once he's gone CFG can fill the spot with another

Murdocca gets brushed off the ball too easily.
A defensive midfielder doesn't need to be chopping everyone down as long as he can read the player and tackle cleanly. Mooy fits that bill.
And we could always- and under JVS have- gone to 3-4-3 if the midfield is over run by pushing Germano alongside Mooy.

With as much promising young and experienced players that are in the squad, for once there may actually be considerable depth and competition for places.
It will be hard to see how some players will get much game time, or fit into the system in their preferred roles, but this is certainly a big challenge for JVS to handle.

The formation under JVS last season was largely a 4-2-3-1, so it's quite possible that that could be our formation next season. However, I'm pretty sure that JVS played with only 1 holding/defensive midfielder and 2 more advanced midfielders in our 2011-2012 season, and I wouldn't rule that set up out.
My best XI ATM:
----------------------Villa------------------------- ----Duff--------Lampard-------Dugandzic-- --------------Mooy----Murdocca-------------- Garuccio-Kisnorbo-Wielaert-Germano-- -----------------Redmayne----------------------
However, if we sign an International Marquee:
----------------------Villa------------------------- ----Duff--------Lampard-------Dugandzic-- ---------Int. Marquee----Mooy---------------- Garuccio-Kisnorbo-Wielaert-Germano-- -----------------Redmayne----------------------
And after Villa and Lampard are gone:
------------------Kennedy----------------------- ----Duff------Int. Marquee----Dugandzic-- --------------Mooy----Murdocca-------------- Garuccio-Kisnorbo-Wielaert-Germano-- -----------------Redmayne----------------------
Hopefully we sign a proven LB and allow Garuccio to play as a winger with 1 of the 2/3 spots we have available (and that 2/3 spots available AFTER we sign Villa, Lampard, Kennedy and an International Marquee), but still that looks like a pretty impressive A-League starting lineup to me :D
