Also i think its different in adelaide to Sydney and maybe Melbourne coz of population sizes I guess. I played for Campbelltown city here as a junior as it was in my neighbourhood, an even woggier team than adelaide city in the nsl. but even though i played for these guys i watched and went for adelaide City in the NSL coz that was the adleiade team playing at the highest level in the country. Now Adelaide City is replaced by Adelaide United and the NSL with the A-League as the top team/league in Australia but i still have that little club around the corner from my parents house if i ever wanted to watch a state game. Trouble is here its really just dads and brothers and girfriends that go see those games, as i said probably going by population size. so i guess if Im a traitor for watching Adelaide united now I was already a traitor in the NSL days coz Campbelltown was my local club in my neighbourhood and even woggier but i went for Adelaide City when it came to the games highest comp. i never thought of it like that though as campbelltown just werent in the nsl and would never be big enough to get in the nsl so i didnt think i was a traitor. Plenty of people here still support SANFL teams but go for the crows in AFL(bad example i know we prob all hate footie a bit) but the point is people have their state teams and then their teams that play at the highest level.
i also go for lazio in the serie a and thats who all my family have gone for for 100 years but i dont feel like a traitor for liking adelaide united coz they play in a different competition.

Man I love the term 'New Dawner' it indicates an inability to comprehend that football is a game that can appeal to more than those who have been immersed in it from a young age. By 19-SU-58's small way of thinking I am a New Dawner as well, after all I am only 32 and following football since I was 13 - barely any time at all eh? My family are RU and cricket people (oh and the Gaelic games as well), I followed the SANFL as a kid - my first exposure to football was in highschool (other than schoolyard soccer, with the sides always being divided between the skips and the wogs - how naive we were) when I discovered the joys of the EPL and MUFC. I tried to follow the NSL, but it was not an environment that appealed to me - it can be quite intimidating to not be able to understand anything that is being said around you in a large crowd (made me appreciate what those new to a country must have felt though) - that and half the time no one appeared that interested in the actual game being played!

LOL Way to grow the game in Australia, mate. Awesome. That's the elitist nonsense that helped kill off the NSL and held back the game for decades. But I'm sure that sneering comment has made you an absolute hero among your mates at Sydney United, eh? Football fans pre- and post-2005 are all football fans - that's the only thing that's important.

these so called 05 fans are not fans they dont buy season passes they dont live and breath the club, they dont speak about their club at luncht time and at work
they dont bring in sponsorship their two dollar jokers who go to 1-4 games a year!
that is why the a-league wont grow unless you let the old clubs in so the old club fans can ruffle the feathers of everyone else so bad that they become passionate to shut the old fans up just like our mate kevin takes it in the ares

Some of us support our club, not "the game" I dont support football as a sport. I support my club and only my club. If my club was to die tomorrow, football would die with it. A foreign concept for most, as youd just pick up where you left off with the next franchise that jumped onboard. Each to their own and all that.

I find it amusing that you believe that you would cease to be involved in football if your club was to fold. Good to hear, you are obviously a well balanced individual with no clear emotional issues... As for solympic, once again mate with the epic fail. If you want to know where people work just ask them. And in case you haven't figured it out yet KA works for Haymarket - you know the people who publish 442 here in Australia? Or is that to big a leap for you to make...

Oh and I also love how a "New Dawner" is anyone who started following the game since 2005. So the fact that my son and daughter where both born after 2005 makes them "New Dawners" too. People who think the world suffered a massive division in 2005 which seperated the population into two distinct groups of football fans make me laugh, why to have a fishbowl of a paradigm.

These KIDS that talk about new dawners are all fucking 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They weren't even sperms when these clubs were kicking around in the NSL hey days. THEY ARE THE BANDWAGONERS dont forget this. And all the little minions they hope to bring along to their state league games will be bandwagoners too by their definition.
It is actually funny and that's why I only have scorn now for some of these people on here. They are either incredibly stupid or just incredibly misguided. They can't see that with them as spokepersons for their clubs they will not get 1 single serious football person along to the ground. Maybe another 10 snotty nosed pipsqueeks that pretend to be 'ULTRAS' (ahahahaa god that makes me laugh when they use that word) but they are just causing people to more and more hate some of these clubs. Clubs that used to be respected even by a-league followers for their history. Their history was great but if these kids are their futures then god help them all.

WE ARE FUCKEN ULTRAS BITCHES You are the reason your club is now playing state league, and you are the type of fan that will stop respectable clubs from the old era ever being allowed to play top flight football in this country again, which really is a shame but of course you have no one to blame but yourself. So don't whine on and on in your little threads about a "Revolution" because it is never going to happen until you and your little "ULTRA" fuck friends grow the fuck up.

You don't think your stance might be slightly racist solympic? AS racist or perhaps MORE racist than any clear out at the end of the NSL. The FFA's stance that clubs should be for all races as opposed to your's that clubs should be for one race doesn't really back up your accusations.
Wake up sunshine... The way you crap on about anglos etc IS RACIST!!!](*,)

Is it racist to state that clubs that enter the HAL must have broad based appeal across their ctachment area? Or is it racist to say we are only interested in having supporters of a greek background attend the club?

That was not the reason they did not join the HAL, they failed to meet the criteria put out by the FFA in order to join the comp.

Don't think they are going to. I doubt I would be a paying member of a replacement club to AUFC, but I would probably attend their games as I enjoy the HAL. As I said I find it amusing to think that you would just stop being a part of football just because your club folded.
