No we just dont care, i wrote an article about this when i 1st heard about the farwell game against NZ.

This is why almost EVERYONE in melbourne follows Soccer (football) but only a fraction follow the A-league. Most only watch high quality football, such as the EPL, La liga, SerieA and CL.

If the matches aren't quality dont expect to get 70K+ from melbourne. We dont love out socceroos we love football why do you think when Juva came to play MV there was 32K plus for a C-string Juva.

I not going to this match ill watch this one at the pub its simiply not worth it.

The FFA need to understand giving the Holland game to Syndey not Melbourne was a miskate.

Melbourne knows good football we love good football we wont watch rubbish.

these Kangaroos can play football -

"I think the win over Bahrain in the (World Cup) play-off showed what this team is capable of." Quote

Hes made a strong point here, nothing like beating Bahrain, a world superpower 1-0 at home.

Seriously do our boys even know their playing NZ? but then again all we've been hearing for a few weeks is noise from across the ditch about how contested this game will be.

New Zealand All-whats?

Anyone know how the ticket sales are?

There have been articles indicating it will be a sell out.

Actually, I'm not overly enthused about the match, but at least they get a hit out before the world cup

Croatia or equivalent may have got the juices flowing but not NZ, there are bigger fish to fry. And yes I do care about the result, never want to see socceroos lose, I just can't get excited by NZ. I flew to sydney to see holland and would have gone to Melbourne had it been big name opposition. bobbyR your small man syndrome is really annoying.

Davstar that's a horrible horrible attitude. Melbourne sound like a fickle bunch.

with all due respect, Australia is a good side, but you are NOT brazil, holland etc. You have only been to one more world cup than New Zealand, and have only now strung together two consecutive appearances at the world cup. Davstar, melbourne might not want to watch rubbish, but given your attitude, German supporters mightn't be too keen on watching rubbish come the pool stages in SA too. Pull your neck in.

The thing is, we have been talking about Scott McDonald breaking his international duck for a long time. Could this be the game which opens the flood gates of him scoring a lot of goals for oz? I hope that Jesus and McDonald play up front in a 442 and leave the pragmatic attitude of 2 holding MF's. Smeltz has not scored in a long time and cant see him getting even close to scoring with Lucas Neil and Grella breathing down his neck. Thus why use a 4231 when they dont really have the attacking options. We played a 442 against Ireland who are a stronger team and we killed them. Thus play a 442!

However my major concern is that the Kiwi's thinking that this game is their World Cup final & will be flying in with tackles knee high and above. I dont want to see any injured Aussies due to poor tackles form the Kiwis trying to make a point. At least the Nix dont play that way anyway and lets be honest here, 80% of the team are the nix.

Id rather see the boys play against an African team as the group we have has an AFRICAN team in it. Playing the USA and Denmark is smart as they both play a high tempo game and tactically Denmark is pretty strong. But playing the Kiwis is a waste of time.

I have read other reports where only 11,000 tickets have been sold? As usual mixed reporting form the Mebourne Media. What a shock!

Actually, this will be Australia's reaction:

Win: Meh, it's only New Zealand.
Lose: Meh, it's only a friendly.

There is some amazing arrogance on here.
For example how could anyone think Scott McDonald might be banging in multiple goals against Ryan Nelson (Blackburn Rovers) and Ivan Vicelich (ex top level in Holland)?

For those of us not in Australia/NZ, any idea how to watch the game? Hopefully Australia Network will broadcast it?

scouser- of 30 players called up to play for New Zealand in the last 18 months, 6 play for the phoenix. If you think that 6/30 is 80%, i significant doubts concerning the australian education system...

Australia have nothing to prove in this game, they really don't care.
New Zealand have everything to prove, they realy do care.

Australia don't want to risk injuring key players in the lead-up to the World Cup. The game will be a fizzer.

SC03, probably be broadcast outside ANZAC on the Betfair and Bet365 sites. You need to join with a CC but you don't need to bet or pay anything. Other than that I can't tell you due to 442 site rules.

To be perfectly honest, as an Australian, I will be slightly embarrassed if the socceroos lose to the all-whites. Though, I'll remember it's only a warm-up game and most of the team are probably not going at it to their fullest ability.

A game like this reminds me of all the times big football nations (France and Argentina immediately spring to mind) came to Australia to play friendlies. Australia were trying their hardest because we had something to prove, but our opposition didn't really give a damn. I hope now that we stopped Uruguay and Croatia, Australia has a little bit of respect in the football world and teams actually WANT to beat us.

New Zealand have a long way to go before they get respect. The greatest respect someone can have for you is if they fear you or hate you. New Zealand have neither.
