Any striker who isnt' playing for New Zealand is a danger tbh. But Klose less so. He doesn't deserve his spot - he's there on reputation alone when others have had to work hard and played very well to get there.

He's still played in 24 games this season and had over 1,000 minutes on the pitch, so he's averaging some 40 minutes/game - which is a fair amount of time, even if he isn't starting - and he has just three goals to his name

Olic and Muller have been on fire so Klose has not been needed you cant judge a players form if he hardly gets any playing time. The guy is a proven goalscorer and will continue to score!

Not surprised at all by Klose being included. As bad a season as he has had he's shown he can get it down at the World Cup, as shown by his 10 goals in two tournaments.

He's out of form. He hasn't been scoring for the national side either. Previous tournaments have seen him having decent domestic form. He is in this squad on reputation alone.

Surprised Klose made it, and likewise that Hitzelsperger was left out. But other than that a very predictable squad.

What a tool.

I beleive that was aimed at the bogan Thugby League fans who on the 15th of may will be claiming Chelski as their favourite team.

try not to take it so personally, Triple M is a suck arse station anyway as is the majority of mainstream radio due to their lack of knowledge of Music and variety.

Germany name 27-man squad for 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa

From Ryland James in Berlin, Germany
May 06, 2010

Coach Joachim Loew has selected seven players from UEFA Champions League finalists Bayern Munich for the Germany World Cup squad including recalling veteran goalkeeper Hans-Joerg Butt.

Loew has opted to take Bayern's rising stars forward Thomas Mueller and uncapped 21-year-old defender Holger Badstuber, along with Butt, who turns 36 at the end of the month.

Butt won the last of his three caps in 2003, but has been in stellar form for Bayern who are set to win the Bundesliga title on Saturday and are in the Champions League final at the end of the month.

Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack will captain the side in South Africa and is just two caps from making his 100th appearance for Germany.

There is no place in the squad for Lazio midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger, while Bayer Leverkusen pair goalkeeper Rene Adler and midfielder Simon Rolfes are missing with injury.

Hamburg defender Dennis Aogo is a surprise selection in the 27-man squad which will be reduced to 23 in June when the final squad is submitted.

Both Cologne's Lukas Podolski, voted the best young player at the last World Cup, and Bayern Munich's Miroslav Klose, the top-scorer at Germany 2006, have been named amongst the forwards along with 20-year-old Mueller.

Germany face warm-up games against Malta in Aachen on May 13, Hungary in Budapest on May 29 and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Frankfurt on June 3.

With Werder Bremen facing Bayern Munich in the German Cup final on May 15, Ballack, whose Chelsea team faces Portsmouth in the FA Cup final the same day, and the Bremen players will join the Germany squad in Sicily after May 15.

The seven from Bayern will join the national squad in their second training camp in the southern Tyrol Alps after the Champions League final on May 22 against Inter Milan in Madrid.

Germany have drawn Australia, Ghana and Serbia in Group D for the World Cup which starts on June 11 and they open their campaign against the Socceroos on June 13 in Durban.

Loew has also named a separate group of five fringe players who will be brought into the Germany squad only for next Thursday's warm-up game with Malta.

They include goalkeeper Tobias Sippel (Kaiserslautern), Mats Hummel, Kevin Grosskreutz (Borussia Dortmund), Stefan Reinartz (Bayer Leverkusen), Marco Reus (Borussia Moenchengladbach) for the game in Aachen.
