Harry Kewell has played just five minutes in six months. Would you pick him for the World Cup?

I don't care if he's only played 5 minutes. He is still fit and will have 3 matches to get back in form before the Germany game.

He played a few minutes on the weekend and injured himself. He is a wasted squad position if he can not get past his new injury.

Kewel is a solid player and performer but he is not match fit, returning from injury and therefore a liability.

What's the point of taking an injured player? He's not receovering from injury, he's currently injured.

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but didn't a crocked Kewell score the equalising goal that got us out of the group stages last year?

The guy, like Cahill, performs at international level when he is most needed. Considering the spot he'd take up would only go to someone unlikely to play a minute anyway I think not taking him would be madness.

The very same Kewell who air swung at the ball infront of an open goal that had Bresciano not been there to clean it up we would not have been in the world cup in the first place.

One lucky goal 4 years ago does not make you invinsable. if i remember correctly he almost destroyed his career due to not getting proper medical attention for his foot.

Actual point of my post:

The 'lucky goal' (Really struggling to work out how it's in any way luckier than your average goal) just proves that a severely hobbled Kewell can still have an impact on the game.

He stands up when needed and, with Viduka gone, is comfortably our most technically gifted player. I don't see why you'd drop him for someone like Garcia who who would only have a remote chance of getting any gametime anyway.

Kewell has to be there because he can do the business. Of the likely 23 the only 2 I completely object to are Jones and Moore. Hugene should be there for Jones and any one of a number of players should be there for Moore.

My point is, one good knock and Kewell is gone anyway. So therefore we have then wasted a spot.

If he is fit sure he can pay, but he has been out for a very long time and reinjured himself in 5 minutes of play. Yes he can stand up when needed but in his current condition I think he will have been streched from the field before that moment arrives.

Yeah, i get that, and for any other player bar Cahill i'd agree with it, but these guys are our only x factors in a team that looks weak going forward against Bahrain. If there's a chance he'll be fit I'd take him.

I'd pick him when he's 75, has a walking frame, wears adult diapers and whingers about the 'youth of today'.
