This is tragic as Joel will now be remembered only as a 'dummy spitter' and a 'sack wacker'!! Not good memories to tell ya grandkids Joel!!

Suck it up sunshine.
You may have to consider that Pim din't pick you, becasue of your attitude, not your goalscoring record.

Thank God for small favours.

Pim doesn't rate China as any better than the A League & he told Nicky Carle not to go there. Joel has been playing good there especially in the asian Champions League, but not better than the other strikers in the national squad. Joel does himself no favours with these comments & he will be viewed with suspicion for future Australian squads.

I think he has an attitude problem which precluded him from being picked in the first place. I don't think this is going to help mate.

Team dynamic Joel. We obviously don't know something. He is a good player, there must be more to this story then Joels.

Soccer in Oz is so f%ckin boring. Thank F%ck for Griff telling us how it really is. Without characters like Joel on and off the park you would all be snoring and this wouldn't be a 10 page forum. Joel makes a valid point here..... PIM is a dumb person that does not give a sh!t about Oz football. He and the coaching staff have let OZ down but not even considering Joel, Ognenovski & Bosnar... Get rid of the Dutch C % N T now...

Quote: this seems a little suss... who emails that sort of comments to a newspaper? Not even joel griffiths is that stupid!!! surely this was a private conversation gone public... It probably was. But regardless of that an ouburst to whomever it may be is not the way to get yourself into the squad or back in favour with the coach. Now that this information is out in public his international career could well be over, should future coaches become aware of his temper. Quote: Soccer in Oz is so f%ckin boring. In some regard you're on the mark. But Joel has no place to rip into the national coach and talk shit the way he did. He should know better. There are far better ways to discredit Pim than that dummy spit. Yes, Pim is letting Australia down and has no interest in how well Australia do at the world cup. He gets paid already and wants to get out and move on to his next gig. Also, grow a pair and actually sware, we all know what you're saying so you're not hiding anything at all. Mummy can't wash your keyboard out with soap and water here. Edited by afromanGT: 17/5/2010 02:21:56 AM

Perhaps Joel should have let his boots do the talking on the occasions he was given, rather than his mouth now. There is many a good player in all sports who performs well at club level but for some reason is unable to make the step up to international level. Any comment now is just a further negative against his name. 3 chances at full international level is 3 wasted opportunities... though he did waste a lot more than just 3. Show some style son & zip it.

Joel's boots do the talking as well! My family is from the Netherlands and when I went to visit them 10 years ago I went out for dinner with a cousin and his friend in Amsterdam. The night ended with me almost wanting to punch my cousin's friend. His "honesty" to Australian sensibilities was tantamount to insults. Guus Hiddink seemed to have a better grasp of the Australian mentality but I don't think Pim does. Joel's reaction is understandable from my perspective. He feels he has been pre-judged without being given the chance to prove his worth and no Australian likes that. It should be part of a coach's job to relate to the culture of the country he is employed by. There have been many examples of Pim treading on our toes through the media. Look at today's Daily Telegraph with Pim telling us we can't win the World Cup. Let's get this clear about Australia. We tend to stay clear of certainties because we know that a person's true metal is brought out when times are tough. We don't arrogantly approach the World Cup like some other countries, and never will. We have self belief and hope. We know that our players will do us proud and they will write another proud chapter of Australian history. Our view of Gallipoli shows we can even turn defeat into victory. The Rats of Tobruk show that Australian ingenuity should never be underestimated. Good on you Joel. I know how you feel. Sometimes I want to just punch Pim in the face too.

Sackwack might be public enemy #2 for a CCM supporter, but he has every right to an opinion and is free to air it. None of this stiff upper lip and take it on the chin crap associated with being a silent aussie.
Give me a break. Doesn't even look like Pim considered him, why ? I don't get it.
- He's a striker that is playing regularly and scoring in the Chinese league. He gave a lowly A-league team the runaround in the ACL. - He's great at deadball (and other ball) situations. I remember him crucifying teams wit his freekicks. - and is any striker worth considering if he doesn't have some sort of attitude. Couldn't you see him getting the face of a German defence which has had problems of late.
And all people can say is - Brosque was unlucky to get the nod. Sorry but Sackwack has it all over Brosque - that is, unless we want someone who speciality is diving and appealing to the ref.
Never mind Sackwack, you'll get the nod for the Asian Cup.

What a fantastic article. :)
I love it when players let their true feelings be known like that. :)
That attitude of his is probably the answer as to why Pim overlooked him.

What ingredients would you put into a cocktail drink to honour the Socceroos? I think the Socceroos need an Official Cocktail in honour of their achievements......How would you make the drink? http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/force-factor-review-amp-free-trial-2113761.html

I agree that JG is a very good player by A-League standards (I've watched him tear the Mariners apart more than once) but who could he have knocked out of Verbeek's squad? Kewell? Kennedy? McDonald? Rukavytsya? Vidosic? I don't think so, and (probably) not all of those will make the plane. JG's probably got a point about the extent to which he was considered and how he found out about his exclusion, but he's dreaming if he reckons he gets picked ahead of anyone actually in the squad.

Contrast Griffiths outburst to that of Eddie Bosnar. Maybe the fact that Bosnar got a phone call and Griffiths didn't is the reason , maybe not , but if what Bosnar said about Arnold is true ,(something along the lines that bosnar would never be picked in an aussie team while arnold had any say ),it could apply to any number of players not given a chance to impress.

Because the aussie national team is Pim's mates club. It's a waste of time and embarrassing to view from a neutral perspective.

I believe that the strikers such as Griffith,Josh K.,etc look great on paper with their goal feats but they are not really tested by big bustling, strong centre backs in Europe competition but shine in the Asian leagues with height and weight advantage. The world cup is not the place to be found wanting!Josh K.in my opinion is NOT the solid target man that Australia need but would be best suited to striker support for a centre forward or an attacking mid.

You are a douche Joel, with this kind of attitude you dont deserve a spot, maybe i should send you a copy of the Harry Kewell interview that was recently on 60 minutes, thats the kind of talent and gentlemen we want in our squad and representing our Country, not spoilt little no talent hacks who loyalty leaves alot to be desired and just chases the quick buck, stay in China we dont eva want you back.
