Was hoping to take the month off so can watch all games and sleep during the day. Unfortunatelty, work commitments wont allow this.

With group games being played at 9pm, midnight, and 4:30am it will physically/mentally impossible to watch every game and then go to work every day (and thank god it'll be uni holidays!!) R16 and QF games are midnight and 4:30, so choices may need to be made there as well.

Best case seems to be watch 9pm and 4:30am games and miss midnight game to sleep. that means I'll miss games like ARG v NIG, SER v GHA, CIV v POR, ESP v SWI, POR v BRA plus half the R16 and QF games.

What are other people's strategies/recommendations?

Just as important, how you gonna deal with your Minister of Finance, Entertainment & Social Affairs as they will be maginalised for the month? ATM I'm being extra nice to mine, with all request being promptly met, no matter how menial, plus performing unsolicited neck-rubs o:)

Single, working 4 days a week (Noon-9pm), taking ten days off as build up to fly to Melb and watch the Roos play NZ and hang out with some mates from down there. I think I am set for a big June :P

Also have got the Socceroos official supporters scarf from a Nutella promotion which cost me about $8, have sent in for the Hahn Super Dry customised Socceroos supporters jersey, am buying the new Socceroos home jersey with Kewell (10) or Cahill (4).

Holidays from uni, catching up on sleep now, because there is no chance of me missing anything. Might give the odd game like New Zealand v Slovakia a miss to regain energy but other than that there is no plan. Football, beer and a bit more football

+1 for the IQ.
I'll only do the midnight and 4.30 games if they are the teams I follow.

Will be watching every Uruguay game live, but for the Socceroos/Brazil/Spain and Argentina I will just record them and watch them the next day. I MIGHT, go to Fed Square if Socceroos have the chance to go through to the next round.

Work night shift, watch games on days off, spend lots of time in front of really big tv with mates around and a slab of cold beer in the fridge.

Keeping it simple yo!

Have booked RDO's for the two Australia games. I will be getting up at 4am to watch who ever is playing. I will then be watching the 9pm games.

follow up with the midnight game via the internet at work and then watch all matches on weekends.

Moer coffee than beer and spirits will be consumed but that is a good thing me thinks.

Am relocating to Asia for the R16 onwards. Means I can see the games at 9pm and 1.30am every night and sleep afterwards as long as needed as its holidays. For the group stage I'll watch two games a night and aim for 5 hours sleep a day. I have an itinerary for all the games, where I'll be, what hotel I'll be in, and what the local time will be. The best sports bars have all been figured out. Pumped.

I have taken a month off from work, on long service leave, to watch the World Cup. Have loved watching the World Cup since I saw my first, the one in Argentina in '78, when I was in primary school.

As they said on the FourFourTwo podcast, " every male football fan will be attempting to watch every game of the World Cup in South Africa. To do so you just need to get rid of 3 things; family, friends & work ".
Nicely said lads.

Rubbish working hours means I'm likely to miss the 1230 and 3pm kickoffs (UK time). However, I should be home for the 730pm KOs most days.

On the upside, rota means I will be getting 1 day off every 3 worked, with a 4 day weekend every other week. So happy times ahead on those days. Furthermore, I'll be watching the latter half of the World Cup from France/Holland/Germany/Italy/wherever my travels take me by that stage of July.
