Actually i think Belmore will give Chopin Park a real hiding this week. Reason being i dont think that there is much between the players in quality but for the simple reason from what ive heard and seen Chopin Park's coach has no idea. Tactically inept and its quite obvious that hes the reason why they have drew so many games because they certainly have good players. Revised prediction: Belmore 5 - Chopin Park 1 with G Sivric to score Chopin Parks goal.

State League Two Round 17 Review 26.06.11 19:26
The NSW State League division two top-five just got that little bit tighter again after some stunning round 17 results, Roosters defeating leaders Luddenham 3-2 probably the biggest shock, while Hakoah hammered Fairfield 4-1 to jump up three places into second, while Prospect picked up a double win, 1-0 over Wanderers midweek and 4-2 over Hurstville on Saturday night, to bustle their way into third spot at the expense of Fairfield. Northbridge beat Hawkesbury 1-0 but Chopin Park leapfrogged them both with a big 4-1 win at Belmore, while Nepean picked up its fourth straight win following a 1-0 defeat of Springwood. Bathurst beat Gazy 2-1 to also move ahead of the mountain men.
The points situation is Luddenham (33), Hakoah (29), Prospect (29), Roosters (28) and Wanderers (27) to round out the top-five, closely followed by Chopin Park (25), Northbridge (25), Hawkesbury (24), Hurstville (20), Nepean (19), Bathurst (17) and Springwood (16), with Belmore (9) and Gazy Lansvale (5) bringing up the rear. But with nine catch-up games still to factor into the equation it’s quite literally anyone’s ball game.
Some of the postponed fixtures include Northbridge versus Nepean (on Wednesday night) and Northbridge against Roosters, Hawkesbury versus Hurstville, Prospect against Nepean, and Springwood versus Chopin Park, which will make or break some of these teams seasons.
On the goalscoring front a Neil Jablonski brace against Fairfield took him to 15 goals for the year, four ahead of Northbridge ace Ry Hardy, with Huso Merdanovic (Luddenham) and Adem Taslak (Roosters) a goal further back. Roosters skipper Ercan Topal also popped his head up, scoring his ninth of the year with a goal against Luddenham, while Prospect’s Gus Orcajo bagged three goals in a double United victory this week to grow his tally to eight for the season.
Prospect overpower Hurstville
Prospect United enjoyed its first win over Hurstville City in over two years but had to do it tough against a Minotaurs outfit reduced to nine men at William Lawson Reserve on Saturday evening. The visitors got the start they were looking for when Haissan Morhi delivered a scrumptious cross from the right for Alex Obeid to head home, and Obeid was at it again moments later when he pounced on a defensive mistake to make it 2-0 to Hurstville inside the opening quarter-hour of play.
Morhi was also involved in the third goal, but not for the right reasons, when he handled the ball inside the penalty area to gift Prospect a lifeline from the penalty spot and Gus Orcajo converted to reduce the deficit to one goal. Hurstville looked rattled and gave away an on-field advantage after Ralph Sappio was sent from the field for saying something to an official just as the match went to halftime.
Prospect came out rolling in the second half and Michael Viera blasted one in from long range to tie up proceedings before new Minotaurs recruit Achileas Markopoulos was also sent off to give United a two man numerical bonus for the rest of the match. The home side took full advantage with Orcajo scoring again (his eighth of the year) to give United the lead, and Adrian Castro nailed one home late in the game to make it 4-2 at fulltime.
Prospect coach Tony Caruso was proud of the way his players went about their business in a week that included a 1-0 catch-up win over Fairfield to catapult United into third place on the ladder. “As I’ve said before, I’ve a bunch of boys who believe in their ability and they showed that against the Wanderers,” he said. “They’re a quality side and play a good style of football that suits us. We did our homework on them and came away with the win.”
“[Against Hurstville] It’s all about preparation, at training and so on. They really hit us with everything in the first 15-20 minutes but the boys stayed focused and backed themselves and slowly turned the screws, and it just worked out for us. [In regards to staying in the top-five] We’ll take each game as it comes. It’s such a tight competition… and that’s good ‘cause everyone keeps everyone else on their toes.”
Hurstville coach Peter Sarikakis was frustrated with losing more ground in the top-five race. “We started well and were travelling very well at two up in the first half, and then the other team started creating a lot of pressure… and got a penalty, and my players started losing it a bit,” he said. “After we had the second player sent off they just ran over the top of us. It was a game we looked like we were going to win nice and easy, and at the end of the day we lose 4-2. It’s a bit disappointing as it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.”
Prospect United 4 (Gustavo Orcajo 39/66m Michael Viera 46m Adrian Castro 88m) Hurstville City Minotaurs 2 (Alex Obeid 8/11m)
Reserve grade: Prospect United 1 Hurstville City Minotaurs 4
Northbridge nick Hawkesbury
Northbridge are tantalisingly close to their first top-five taste following a tight 1-0 win over Hawkesbury at Bensons Lane Field on Saturday evening. The home side did just about all it could, except score a goal (two weeks in a row now), to win the game but in the end fell to a great long ball through to Northbridge’s Luke Marshall early in the second half, Marshall finishing with distinction to give the visitors a one-nil lead.
The Northbridge keeper was also in fine form and pulled off a fine double save to deny Hawkesbury any share of the spoils, the scoreline remaining 1-0 at fulltime and the result lifting Northbridge above City on the points table. But they remain agonisingly a handful of points outside of claiming a top-five spot.
Northbridge coach Joe Haywood was pleased to chalk up another win, especially with a catch-up match against Nepean (who have won four in a row) on Wednesday night. “To be honest I think we had the first half and they had second half, and we just managed to get away with the win,” he said. “We’re just slowly building our way through the competition. I thought we were unlucky against Roosters last week, as we could have broken into the top-five, but we’ve got game against Nepean so we’ll see how we go there.”
Hawkesbury coach Gary Lewis was clearly disappointed. His side has now claimed just one win in eight games at home this season. “It’s the same story every week, isn’t it? We dominate and come away with nothing?” he offered. “Northbridge are a good side, well disciplined… and the pleasing part from a game perspective is that they didn’t stop playing after they scored their goal, which made it entertaining.”
Hawkesbury City 0 Northbridge 1 (Luke Marshall 48m)
Reserve grade: Hawkesbury City 2 Northbridge 2
Nepean stomp Springwood
Nepean notched up win number four on the trot with a 1-0 defeat of Springwood United at Summerhayes Park on Saturday night, and along the way also claimed the club’s first piece of silverware. A good crowd turned up to watch the inaugural Richie Volis Cup (named after a former Springwood player left paraplegic after a swimming accident) and Nepean stunned everyone when Jason Browne collected the ball at the top of the box and rifled one into the back of the net to open the scoring in just minutes.
Springwood sprung into action and peppered the visitors with several raids before Nepean started getting back on top towards the end of the first half, forcing the United keeper into a number of outstanding saves, but the score stayed at 1-0 as the teams entered the dressing sheds.
The home side came out firing in the second period to have Nepean reeling and the visitors suffered a further setback when fullback Ajak Deng was sent off following a second booking, Nepean spending the rest of the game absorbing plenty of Springwood pressure and trying to hit on the counter attack. And they did hold on for a gritty 1-0 win to leapfrog Springwood on the table, United suffering its fourth straight loss.
Nepean coach Carlos Camacho was delighted. “I’m very happy obviously because the boys are happy and their confidence is up,” he said. “Our keeper was outstanding in the second half as it was one of those games that we could have easily lost. Springwood in attack are so quick once they win the ball back. They have very fast wide players… and are possibly the most dangerous team in this comp when you lose the ball, they’re just so direct.”
“It was a good game, played tough but fair, and the refereeing was superb as he allowed the match to flow. It was also a good crowd because of the function Springwood were having, and I think the local derby will become a great annual event. What pleases me most is that we’re playing good football, that’s the most important thing, and we’re getting the results due to the football we’re playing.”
Springwood United 0 Nepean 1 (Jason Browne 9m)
Reserve grade: Springwood United 3 Nepean 2
Roosters peck Luddenham
Roosters stuck a hand out from the top-five squabble to drag leaders Luddenham United back into the melee, winning a 3-2 thriller at Hills Sports High on Sunday afternoon. The high calibre fixture got off to an electric start when Baturay Akin opened the scoring for Roosters on the quarter-hour mark, only for United midfielder Dejan Urosevski to equalise 10 minutes later when he spotted the Roosters keeper off his line and cheekily curled in his corner kick.
The home side reclaimed the lead through club favourite Ercan Topal minutes before halftime only for Luddenham to bounce back a second time just before the break, Huso Merdanovic skipping past one defender and blasting into the back of the net to make it 2-2 at oranges.
The second half was tense as both sides probed for more goals and it was Roosters who broke the deadlock midway through the second half, Topal scoring his second for the match to seal a 3-2 result (a repeat scoreline from their round four encounter earlier in the year) and keep Roosters fourth on the ladder. Topal has enjoyed going back to his old stomping ground snaring nine goals since his return 13 rounds ago to be fifth highest scorer in the league.
Luddenham coach Andrew Montgomery said the game was played in great spirits and featured plenty of entertainment for fans. “There were lots of chances at both ends,” he said, “and today was a great opportunity that we missed to not get caught up in the fight below us on the table. We only have ourselves to blame as they scored three times from our defensive lapses.”
Roosters 3 (Baturay Akin 14m Ercan Topal 42/63m) Luddenham United 2 (Dejan Urosevski 28m Huso Merdanovic 44m)
Reserve grade: Roosters 7 Luddenham United 2
Chopin Park belt Belmore
It was a tight game between Chopin Park Rams and Belmore Hercules at Blick Oval on Sunday afternoon… up until halftime, with the Rams blasting three second half goals to win 4-1 and stay in touch with the top-five party. Chopin Park scored first through Liam Lawler before an injury to their central defender destabilised the normally solid defensive unit and Belmore capitalised to equalise via Leon Karananos five minutes before the break.
The second half belonged to Chopin Park as Ben Lam scored five minutes after the restart and Lawler completed his hat-trick with goals in the 77th and 82nd minutes to steer Chopin Park to a solid 4-1 win. The three-goal victory was enough for the Rams to leapfrog both Northbridge and Hawkesbury on the ladder and sit just one point outside the top-five, but they will have to work hard for their position with seven of their last games scheduled away from home.
Chopin Park coach Radek Czerwinski said the scoreline didn’t really reflect how tough the match was. “There are no comfortable games in this division… any team is capable of winning and Belmore is a good side,” he said. “We turned things around when we were able to adjust at halftime, and after that we continued playing our football. [The win] definitely came at the right time.”
Belmore Hercules 1 (Leon Karananos 37m) Chopin Park Rams 4 (Liam Lawler 23/77/82 Ben Lam 53m)
Reserve grade: Belmore Hercules 1 Chopin Park Rams 2
Bathurst beat Gazy
Bathurst ’75 made it two wins in a row for the first time this year by outplaying a stubborn Gazy Lansvale 2-1 at Cherrybrook Park on Sunday afternoon. The affair had a definite French flavour with Bathurst showing off its flashy new imports for the first time together this year, the duo adding plenty of foreign flair to the game.
Bathurst began in a blaze of glory as Jarrod Portegies blasted one in early and then doubled the lead inside the half-hour, finishing off a crisp Alex Dean pass with a spicy shot from an acute angle. ’75 lifted their foot off the pedal to allow Gazy an equaliser just before halftime, but they held on in the second half for their first away win of the year, a great 2-1 result that jumped them over nearest neighbours Springwood on the points table.
Bathurst coach Mark Rooke said it didn’t have to be so close. “We missed so many chances it wasn’t funny,” he said. “The two French imports were fantastic, and it was only that we got a bit slack at the end of the half that they scored. Then we hit the bar and post in the second half and had to hang on for the win. That’s the first time we’ve won two in a row this year and we were saying that you can feed off a winning culture as much as a losing one.” Yes, but the winning one tastes a lot better.
Gazy Lansvale 1 (M Fayad 38m) Bathurst ’75 2 (Jarrod Portegies 15/18m)
Reserve grade: Gazy Lansvale 3 Bathurst ’75 1
Hakoah hammer Wanderers
A three-goal blitz in the closing 20 minutes underlined a memorable 4-1 victory for Hakoah over Fairfield Wanderers at Hensley Athletic Field on Sunday night. A Neil Jablonski second-half double paved the way for Hakoah’s first win over Wanderers in over two years and teleported Sydney’s easterners up three rungs on the ladder into second place. And with a commanding for-and-against record courtesy of a league high 45 goals (that’s 2.5 per match, folks), Mark Robertson’s men are gunning for leaders Luddenham.
Hakoah hit the front five minutes into the match after Marc Kacen latched onto a great cross into the box and the score remained unchanged until midway through the second half when Fairfield’s Erick Anabalon counter attacked and rocketed one in from long range to make it 1-1.
Hakoah hit the afterburners and Justin Kosmina played a nice diagonal ball to Neil Jablonski whose bullet header cannoned off the post and into goal to help reclaim the lead for the home side. Minutes later Hakoah sealed the win when Rani Rimmer received the ball out wide and cut it back to Jablonski, and his one-touch half-volley into the back of net from 25m out took the wind right out of Fairfield’s sails. Deklan Gilmartin then put the matter beyond all doubt when he placed a nice shot into goal following some great lead-up play from Jon Pillemer on the wing to make it 4-1 at the final whistle.
The win launched Hakoah into second place on the ladder, a position Hakoah hasn’t been in for years, but coach Mark Robertson wasn’t getting ahead of himself. “I know the boys have it in them to score goals and we just kept it tight at the back and kept working and working and the game eventually opened up for us,” he said.
“I’m happy in that I believe if you work hard you will get out of it what you put in… but I don’t want to get carried away with anything. I’ve had enough years as a footballer to know that the season goes all the way to the end.”
Wanderers coach Leo Maturana was more concerned with his side’s injury toll than he was about dropping from second to a precarious fifth in the blink of a weekend. “Even in this game we got a few injuries and it just went downhill from there,” he said. “We’re having trouble at training with a lot of players out and it shows on the park. The good thing is that the results around the league are keeping everything tight, it’s just a shame that we’re right in the middle of it.”

Geez id had to be the coach of Chopin Park at the moment! being in the run for a top 5 place then this announcement comes up and knowing that youve wasted an entire year because you wont be coaching there next year!
Chopin Park Rams recruit Marshall Soper as coach for 2012 28.06.11 09:58
Chopin Park Rams' new coaching staff for 2012: Henry Mojsa and former Socceroo Marshall Soper Ambitious State League Two club Chopin Park Rams have commenced preparations for 2012 by announcing the signing of former Socceroo star Marshall Soper as the head coach while also recruited Henry Mojsa as the club’s new technical advisor. Soper, who is currently the technical advisor at A-League side Newcastle Jets, will certainly boost the club’s stocks and will further develop the Rams in what will be a five year with the club to reach its former heights when it was once known as ‘Polonia’ back in its heyday.
Mojsa meanwhile has been involved with the club in many different roles in the past 20 years and last year received his UEFA ‘A’ License whilst coaching in Poland. Mojsa’s main focus whilst achieving his UEFA ‘A’ Licence was focusing on developing youth players.
Rams President Scott Gilhooly was delighted to have appointed such astute coaching staff like Soper and Mojsa.
"We are extremely excited to have former Socceroo Marshall Soper at the club.
“He was an outstanding player and I believe he is as good as a coach and mentor if not better.
“A true and total professional.
"Henry and Marshall have both been appointed to bring the level of youth at our club up a notch and I don't think we could have got it any more right.”

State League Two Round 18 Review 03.07.11 21:35
Hakoah's new signing Joe Vrkic got on the scoresheet from the spot-kick in his debut with the club. Luddenham cemented first place in division two following a 2-1 win over Hawkesbury in round 18 action, while Hakoah beat Nepean 1-0 and Prospect pounded Belmore 4-0 to stay in touch just behind them. But the movers of the week were new teams Northbridge and Chopin Park, with respective 6-0 and 2-1 wins over Gazy and Bathurst pushing them to a top-five position pending the postponed result between Roosters and Wanderers. Springwood smashed Hurstville 4-0 to give themselves a glimmer of finals hope, but both sides need more wins to figure in the championship race.
Individually, Ry Hardy scored twice this week to move the Northbridge ace to 13 goals, two behind Hakoah’s Neil Jablonski. And four goals to Eliott King (Northbridge) and a brace to Gustavo Orcajo (Prospect) lifted them alongside Huso Merdanovic (Luddenham) and Adem Taslak (Roosters) on 10 strikes for the year, Ercan Topal (Roosters) close behind on nine, and Paul Paras (Belmore), Paul Cooper (Hawkesbury), Grant Odei (Luddenham), Bryan Campbell (Springwood) and Peter Henderson (Springwood) with eight each.
Luddenham defeat Hawkesbury
Luddenham United steadied the ship at the front of the armada as they saw off Hawkesbury City 2-1 at Luddenham Oval on Sunday afternoon. Hawkesbury’s away form has been a league leader and they grabbed the lead through some brilliant work from Zac Watters, who ran through perfectly onto a great pass from midfield to bury the first-half opener.
Luddenham weren’t to be outplayed and Glen Davies caught the City defence napping only to see his shot ricochet off both posts and into the path of Pasquale Corso, who made no mistake from a few metres out to tie proceedings up at 1-1 at halftime. The second half see-sawed until United substitute Grant Odei touched the ball to Huso Merdanovic who laid a great ball onto a running Davies to finish off, Luddenham winning their fourth straight over Hawkesbury to go four points clear at the top of the table.
United coach Andrew Montgomery said it was a good win considering his side’s injury toll, and praised the way new signing, former Parramatta Power NSL player Luke Tomich has fit in. “We completely dominated them and gifted them a goal,” he said. “We spoke about bouncing back [after two losses], but I still believe Roosters are the best team in the league. They’ll go through the rest of the season undefeated because they’re a class side. Prospect are also a good side and will be there in the end also.”
Hawkesbury coach Gary Lewis wanted his team to take more of their opportunities. “We had some chances but once again didn’t take them, and too many turnovers at opportune times meant we couldn’t sustain enough pressure on them,” he said. “A draw would have been a fair result… we’ll keep trying.”
Luddenham United 2 (Pasquale Corso 30m Glen Davis 71m) Hawkesbury City 1 (Zachary Watters 24m)
Reserve grade: Luddenham United 0 Hawkesbury City 1
Prospect outmuscle Hercules
Prospect United consolidated their top-three position with a resounding 4-0 win over Belmore Hercules at Blick Oval on Sunday afternoon. Ahmed Chanab put the visitors in front early after he capitalised on some good work from Paul Curjak but it was a pretty even affair up until halftime.
And that’s the scoreline stayed until in-form United goalscorer Gus Orcajo nailed a freekick and he finished off a neat one-two inside the penalty area (his tenth of the year) to make it 3-0 in the blink of an eye. The fourth goal was almost identical but with Joe Beslic the beneficiary as Prospect completed a comprehensive victory, their fourth in a row. It was Belmore’s seventh draw of the year, a league-high and a good reason as to why they are still languishing near the bottom of the table.
United coach Tony Caruso was pleased with the manner of play. “It was quite convincing towards the end but Belmore never gave up and played some good football… and we had to be on our toes for the whole game. 4-0 is not a true reflection of the full 90 minutes of football,” he said. “To score many goals is great but when you don’t concede goals I think it sends off a better message to those around us. Our defence is doing okay, it can do better, but we will go a long way to winning football matches with a sound defence.”
Belmore Hercules 0 Prospect United 4 (Ahmed Chandab 2m Gustavo Orcajo 84/86m Joseph Beslic 92m)
Reserve grade: Belmore Hercules 2 Prospect United 1
Northbridge razzle-dazzle Gazy
Northbridge finally cracked it for a top-five spot in their debut state league season after a sizzling 6-0 win over Gazy Lansvale at Cherrybrook Park on Sunday afternoon (3pm). The lads from north of Sydney left it late in a 3-3 come-from-behind draw with Nepean midweek and it took until nearly halftime to find an edge against Lansvale, but when they did the floodgates opened and Elliot King scored four, Max Zanders a penalty, and Ry Hardy another (his 12th of the year) to lift Northbridge to a 6-0 victory.
Northbridge coach Joe Haywood was thrilled to see his side elevate into a top-five position. “It was pretty easy, Gazy just crumbled after the first goal,” he said. “It was tougher against Nepean as we had a few players missing and had to change it around a little bit. I was surprised that they dropped back so deep after they went up by two goals and we kept having chance after chance until we got back into it. It’s definitely going to be a great finish to the year.”
Gazy Lansvale 0 Northbridge 6 (Max Zanders, Ry Hardy, Elliot King x 4)
Reserve grade: Gazy Lansvale 3 Northbridge 1
Springwood smash Hurstville
A second-half onslaught saw Springwood United defeat Hurstville City 4-0 at Punchbowl Oval on Sunday afternoon before the game was called off with minutes remaining to attend to an injured Minotaurs player. The game ebbed and flowed until Springwood leading scorer Peter Henderson was brought down inside the penalty area on the half-hour mark, and the burly forward dusted himself off to nail home the spot-kick and lift the visitors to a 1-0 lead.
But it wasn’t until halfway through the second period that United finally got on top when Bryan Campbell finished off a fine sweeping team movement, and Tim O’Connell made it 3-0 minutes later following a great piece of football. Springwood went 4-0 up after substitute Matt Schensual headed home at the far post, but the game was called off with less than 10 minutes to go following a nasty accidental head clash.
Errol Warwick-Day agreed it was hard work being a coach, watching United rip Hurstville apart after enduring several weeks of narrow defeats. “That’s why I’m always ripping my hair out,” he said. “We haven’t been training regularly with all the rain and this week we managed to get on the park and stretch our legs. We played our usual game, exciting and direct, and broke through for some goals. We’re not going to change much, maybe give a few of our 20 year olds a go in first grade and see what sort of results we can get.”

Chopin Park beat Bathurst
Chopin Park Rams had a joyful journey back from Bathurst after nailing ’75 2-1 at Alec Lamberton Field on Sunday afternoon. The home side were on top early and an unmarked Luke Sullivan drilled in the opener after 10 minutes, but Chopin Park were also in the mood and Nima Nikfarjam responded minutes later to restore parity before halftime.
The Rams should have taken the lead shortly after play restarted but a missed penalty allowed Bathurst to stay in the game, before a great piece of play from Ben Lam put the visitors ahead, the Rams star turning one defender before driving towards the box and unleashing a ground-hugging missile that found the back of the net for the winner.
Chopin Park coach Radek Czerwinski commended his team’s effort on a tough road trip over the mountains. “Once again the boys put in a lot of heart and effort and got the result in Bathurst,” he said. “We knew we needed to step up as Bathurst were on a winning streak… you can say that we’re happy with where we’re at.”
’75 chief Mark Rooke was at a loss. “We were a bit disappointing today. I thought we’d done enough to get at least a draw out of the match… we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot,” he said. “We probably didn’t keep good possession in good areas of the park, which didn’t help… we just have to try and keep winning as many matches as we can from here.”

Hakoah slide past Nepean
Hakoah slid past Nepean 1-0 at Hensley Athletic Field on Sunday night to end a terrific run from the western-Sydney outfit and snare second place in the process. Nepean were unbeaten in June – including Wednesday night’s 3-3 draw with Northbridge – and they were doing well to match it with their more fancied rivals Hakoah, the Nepean goalkeeper in mesmerising form to keep his side in it.
Even when the visitors had a player sent off early in the second half for a clumsy challenge they refused to buckle and in the end it was an unfortunate handball towards the closing stages of the match that gifted Hakoah a penalty, new signing veteran Joe Vrkic (of Parramatta Power and Sydney United fame) slotting home the spot-kick to lift Hakoah to a slim 1-0 victory.
Hakoah mentor Mark Robertson was almost sure it would be a bad night until Vrkic stole an ugly result. “It was one of those games where we had chance after chance and it seemed it might not have been our night… their keeper was superb,” he said. “Nepean has improved since the first time we played them, but we played our normal football and had too many chances to count on one hand.”

He would not look out of place in the super league. He has saved us on so many ocassions its not funny.. definitely in the top 3 keepers in the comp. All in all the quality is very high.. why you ask?

Division 2 has quality players throught all the teams and vast majority of players could step into super league sides tomorrow but with most of them the only reason why they are playing in this division is either work commitments or family or injuries that prevent them from making training.

Thats a shame in a way that they're so good. I play Super Youth League at the moment, and I want to get out of this bullsh*t of, if I pay x amount, lil Johnny of no footballing talent gets signed over a player (in ALOT of cases, me) who works their arse off all year, and absolutely destroys himself in pre season to be good enough to be signed for Premier League. Its happened four different times, and I'm sick of youth football being like this. Been told numerous times I belong in Premier League, and to be fair, I've knocked back quite a few offers from clubs including APIA and Rockdale. Now enough of blowing my own trumpet (I'm quite good at that ), I thought if the standard was, which it obviously isn't, low, I could get valuable expierence at a high level against, well, pretty much, full grown men.

I can let you know what teams in div 2 are in your area, also we could certainly use with another keeper on our books here at springwood next season. Hey, loyalist, thanks for your smart a** remark about us and Geoff being the only reason we are competitive in our matches. Maybe you should have a close look at your own defensive unit. Conceding on average 2 goals per goal.

I know a few pl;ayers that you guys have and theyve all played higher than div 2 so i do have a lot of repect for your players. As for the syle you play it drives me up the wall but then again it does suit you guys the play that way given the pace and strength you have available. More so what my comments were about was the high regard i hold Geoff in. The guy is a real quality keeper and feel free to have a look through all of the post match reports this season a lot of coaches have said that Geoff pulled of some great saves. Once again the comments were in no way a dig at your side as a whole. As for my own defensive unit the stats dont lie and im well aware of this thanks. However when you look at the complete picture we have the second best attack i think? which is what i really concentrate on because thats what makes a game worth watching.

From what ive heard and because i wasnt there i can only pass what ive been told so it may not be entirely true as there are alway 2 sides to a story. Roosters were leading 2-1 with 20mins to go and down to 10 men, when a fan (from the story i got) from Roosters side jumped the fence and punched a Wanderers player in the head then ran to his car and drove off. The match was then abandoned. Apparantly the Wanderers player is in a pretty bad way and requires surgery to his face due to a fractured eye socket. To make matters worse the victim is also a Police officer!
This is all i have been told dont know any further details like outcomes or anything but if anyone else does please inform us.
Like i said this is only the story ive been told and again it was from a second hand source so every change its like Chinese whispers.

State League Two Round 19 Preview 06.07.11 15:12
Round 19 of NSW division two kicks off with Bathurst ’75 travelling to William Lawson Reserve on Saturday evening (5pm kick-off) to take on Prospect United. Prospect are flying high on the back of a four-game winning streak and would love to consolidate their top-three position with another good showing against Bathurst, who have only won once in four journeys to Sydney this year. ’75 have added a couple of players to their roster that may bother United, but they will have to find a way past a Prospect defence that has leaked just 18 goals in 17 matches. The round six game finished 1-1 at Alec Lamberton Field.
Fairfield Wanderers play Hawkesbury City in a big match at Bensons Lane Field on Saturday evening (5pm). These two sides usually compile highscoring affairs but this one may be tight with both defences in good shape as both attacks continue to falter – coupled with the fact their round six encounter finished a dour 0-0. Both Wanderers and City sit on the top-five precipice and badly need a win to stay in touch with the frontrunners, with the odds tipped in favour of Fairfield, whose solid away form (five wins from nine outings) outweighs Hawkesbury’s dismal home record (one win in eight games).
Stubborn Nepean host Hurstville City Minotaurs at Cook Park, St Marys, on Saturday night (7pm kick-off), and this game could make or break one or both sides. Nepean have been in terrific form of late (one loss in six games, a tight 1-0 defeat to Hakoah last week), while Hurstville have hit a road block that culminated in a 4-0 loss to Springwood last weekend. With both sides dwindling behind the top-half of the competition this match is vital to the chances of figuring in the post-season fun. The Minotaurs will need to be on their game to match it with Nepean, who beat them 1-0 in April this year.
Leaders Luddenham United face bottom side Gazy Lansvale in a mismatch of epic proportions at Cherrybrook Park on Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off). Luddenham have a four-point gap at the top of the table and have a knack of blasting teams out of the water, but they match last-placed Lansvale in one area – goals conceded (the two sides boast the league’s worst defences, leaking a combined 95 goals in 34 games) to suggest this could also be a free-scoring encounter. United have won five out its last six matches against Gazy and it looks like one-way traffic again this weekend.
Top-five combatants Hakoah and Roosters meet in a Sunday afternoon blockbuster at Hills Sports High (3pm). Both sides have shown their true measure of late to position themselves in the competition’s top-four, however Roosters have a result pending and won’t want to rest on their fate with so many other big games coming up. Hakoah had won two in a row against Roosters before a 4-2 win the other way earlier this year, and the two sides have scored a combined 85 goals in 32 games this year to offer up this weekend’s meeting as a thoroughly entertaining affair for fans.
Springwood United tackle Belmore Hercules at Blick Oval on Sunday afternoon (3pm). Springwood found their feet again following a 4-0 romp over Hurstville last week and will love the timing of their Belmore clash, Hercules haven’t won since round one and capitulated 4-0 to Prospect last weekend to prove they will find it tough against United. Springwood don’t have a great away record (two wins in nine matches) but Belmore are winless in five games at home this year, but they did manage a 1-1 draw (one of seven for Hercules this season) against United earlier in the year.
Division two shakers and bakers Northbridge and Chopin Park Rams clash at Chopin Park on Sunday night (7.50pm kick-off) in a game that has massive consequences either way. Both sides enjoyed big wins last weekend, Northbridge 6-0 over Gazy and Chopin Park 2-1 at Bathurst, to put themselves in a showdown for a top-five spot… or maybe bust. Northbridge have plenty of firepower at their disposal (42 goals in 17 games) but face the league’s stingiest backline in the Rams (18 goals conceded in 17 games), making this weekend’s fixture an interesting match-up between attack and defence.

State League Two Round 19 Review 10.07.11 19:53
Just when NSW division two couldn’t get any wackier along came round 19 where league leaders Luddenham needed a late penalty to snare a 1-1 draw with bottom-placed Gazy, allowing Hakoah to move to within two points of striking distance courtesy of a 2-1 win at Roosters. Prospect have also zeroed in on top target with a 4-0 rout of Bathurst also shifting them to two points behind Luddenham – and with a game in hand to boot.
The other big news is that Hurstville has jetted to the hills overlooking the top-five boot camp thanks to a double weekend victory over Nepean (2-0) and Bathurst (2-1). Wanderers and Hawkesbury played out a 2-2 draw to sit either side of the Minotaurs on the points table, while Springwood beat Belmore 3-2 in a good match. Northbridge and Chopin Park Rams play their round 19 fixture at Northbridge Oval on Tuesday night (7.50pm kick-off).
Incredibly for this time of year eight new players managed to write their names onto the scoresheet after scoring debut goals this week, taking the overall 2011 tally to 145 different scorers (an average of 10.3 per team). Hakoah and Nepean lead the way with 13 proven strikers, while Gazy has the least with seven (Belmore and Springwood have found eight scorers).
On the goalscoring front, weekend scores to Luddenham’s Huso Merdanovic, Prospect’s Gustavo Orcajo, Hawkebsury’s Paul Cooper, Bathurst’s Luke Sullivan and Hurstville’s Haissan Morhi brought them all closer to the league’s two top guns. Hakoah ace Neil Jablonski still leads the way with a tidy 15 goals this season, two ahead of Northbridge striker Ry Hardy, with Merdanovic and Orcajo now on 11, and Cooper, Eliott King (Northbridge) and Adem Taslak (Roosters) scoring 10 goals for the year.
Roosters veteran Ercan Topal has nine goals to be division two’s eighth most prolific scorer, while Sullivan and Morhi both moved into the top ten with their eight successes bringing them level with Paul Paras (Belmore), Grant Odei (Luddenham), Bryan Campbell (Springwood) and Peter Henderson (Springwood).
Prospect pump Bathurst
Prospect United strengthened their position at the top of the leaderboard with an explosive 4-0 annihilation of Bathurst ’75 at William Lawson Reserve on Saturday evening. The scores were locked 0-0 until late in the second half when the home side unleashed a barrage of goals that sealed an emphatic four-goal victory.
Jean Paul Vella got the ball rolling for Prospect when he scored from a set piece just past the hour-mark, and then an unmarked Anthony Maxwell added a second five minutes later to make it 2-0 in the blink of an eye. Ahmed Chandab chimed in to score his seventh goal of 2011, and a late Gus Orcajo penalty kick gave him his tenth as United notched up it’s third successive four-goal tally (and sixth for the year). Prospect’s fifth straight win keeps them breathing down the necks of Luddenham in second place.
Prospect coach Tony Caruso wasn’t overly surprised with Gazy’s draw with leaders Luddenham, bringing his side to within two points of the lead – with a catch-up game against Nepean still to play. “It makes for a good competition when everyone knocks each other off and any time of year. It shows that there’s never any leaders, doesn’t it,” he said.
“We’re not nervous [about being so close to the competition lead], not even excited really. I’ve got a bunch of men who are focused on one thing and that’s to win games. Anything that happens around us, we just switch off and focus on what we’re trying to achieve.”
Bathurst were also brave in a 2-1 loss to Hurstville in a catch-up game at Punchbowl Oval on Sunday afternoon and coach Mark Rooke said although they would still be trying to win as many games as possible, it was also time to blood a few youth players in first grade. “We were doing pretty well for the first 70 minutes [against Prospect]. We had a few chances to score and didn’t take any and got punished,” he said.
“It’s certainly disappointing as the second half was our worst second half performance of the year without a doubt. We conceded a goal from a set piece and dropped our heads and they lifted. It’s just too many inconsistent halves of football this year and that’s why we are where we are [third from bottom]. We’ll now try and add a few of the 18s from our youth side, build the squad for next year, and try and win as many games as we can along the way.”
Prospect United 4 (Jean Paul Vella 63m Anthony Maxwell 68m Ahmed Chandab 79m Gustavo Orcajo 88m penalty) Bathurst ’75 0
Reserve grade: Prospect United 0 Bathurst ’75 2
Hawkesbury, Fairfield thrilling draw
Fairfield and Hawkesbury played out an enthralling 2-2 draw at Bensons Lane Field on Saturday evening, Wanderers coming from behind twice after Paul Cooper had put City in front with goals in both halves. It was an unbelievable start to the game when from the kick-off Fairfield tried to play the offside trap but inexplicably set Cooper free and the Hawkesbury ace buried his chance to lift the home side in front seconds after the opening whistle.
City were playing like men possessed and missed a couple of guilt-edged chances before Wanderers finally found their feet and started to impress. On the half-hour mark they struck, Mauricio Sanchez smashing a 25m screamer fast, hard and low into the bottom corner to level the scores 1-1 at halftime.
The action went from end to end until a long ball belted upfield by the City keeper bounced dangerously towards the edge of the box and deliciously into the path of a charging John McCrae midway through the second term. The Fairfield keeper bravely got in first and headed the ball away but only as far away as a prowling Cooper, and his stunning volley straight into the back of the net (his 10th of the season) set the night alight and restored Hawkesbury’s lead.
McCrae could have pushed City further ahead but horribly blasted two straight shots at the Fairfield keeper after finding himself in delicious one-on-one stand-offs. The dramatic game did have one last twist but not in the home side’s favour, Wanderers combining beautifully for the last goal, Jonathon Hurtado netting emphatically with 10 minutes to go and the scoreline locked at 2-2. The draw did neither side any favours, Fairfield remaining in seventh, one place ahead of Hawkesbury.
City coach Gary Lewis knew Fairfield would be tough to beat but lamented on a lost opportunity, City now four points adrift of the top-five. “It’s just one of those things in football [all the missed one-on-one chances]… I’m pleased to finally get a point [following three close losses] but I still feel like it’s two points lost,” he said.
“We had some beautiful passages of play… but then at crucial times in front of goal players aren’t backing themselves, and that comes from a loss in confidence. The boys played better football today than they had in the last couple of weeks, but Wanderers are a good side, you can never write them off. But the boys are proud of the way they played today, creating plenty of chances against a quality side.”
Hawkesbury City 2 (Paul Cooper 1/68m) Fairfield Wanderers 2 (Mauricio Sanchez 29m Jonathon Hurtado 80m)
Reserve grade: Hawkesbury City 1 Fairfield Wanderers 0
Hurstville outgun Nepean and Bathurst
Hurstville City defeated a disappointing Nepean 2-0 at Cook Park, St Marys, on Saturday night, and doubled-up with a 2-1 win over Bathurst in a catch-up game at Punchbowl Oval on Sunday afternoon to now find themselves just a couple of points outside the top-five. Unbelievable almost, considering the Minotaurs went the first seven weeks of the year with just one win (over last-placed Gazy).
Haissan Morhi was the hero for Hurstville on Saturday, first finishing off a great Mudar Sultan through ball towards the end of the first half and then getting on the end of some Michael de Meglio magic midway through the second to make it 2-0 to the Minotaurs. The visitors were probably unlucky not to score a few more against a Nepean side that has now lost two straight.
Bathurst led Hurstville early in Sunday’s game, Luke Sullivan edging in from a 15th-minute throw-in (his eighth goal of the year), but the Minotaurs kept their celebrations short with an 18th-minute equaliser to stalwart sweeper Terry Sidiratos (his fourth from the back).
The home side were well on top but had to wait until the last 10 minutes to find a match-winner, midfielder Ralph Sappio returning from suspension to make a good run upfield and his blistering striker wasn’t held by the ’75 keeper, Hurstville Kyriacos Phylactou bobbing up from midfield to blast in a third attempt on goal and lift the Minotaurs to a 2-1 victory. They are now just three points away from a top-five spot.
Hurstville coach Peter Sarikakis was pleased with the weekend’s takings. “The boys did okay [against Nepean]. I took a couple of players from reserve grade and we’ve got a couple of new boys, and they played well… we should have won at least 6-0, but a win’s a win,” he said.
“Bathurst tried very hard and gave 100 per cent after playing yesterday as well, but we had many chances. The players are in a good mood, and our goal was to take six points from the weekend to move up a few places on the ladder. At the end of the day we got the six points, but really had to work very hard for it. There are always a lot of injuries and sickness and players on holidays at this time of year, so it’s hard to get a full strength team out there… but we are now playing for something.”
Nepean 0 Hurstville City 2 (Haissan Morhi 35/67m)
Reserve grade: Nepean 2 Hurstville City 2
Gazy hold leaders Luddenham
Bottom-placed Gazy Lansvale took it’s only chance of the match to snare an unlikely draw with league leaders Luddenham United at Cherrybrook Park on Sunday afternoon. Luddenham were creating havoc on the opposition defence but were caught out when a long ball upfield gave Lansvale’s Mohamad Al Rekabi space to score the opener and take a surprise 1-0 lead into halftime.
Luddenham coach Andrew Montgomery told his players not to panic and to remain patient but a string of missed opportunities – hitting the crossbar, two claims turned down for balls that looked close to crossing the goal-line, and a few super saves from the Gazy keeper – meant that United left it late to salvage anything from the match.
With the game heading toward injury time a long Luddenham throw into the box landed in the lap of Ivan Bazina and he was brought down as he turned to shoot. The referee pointed to the penalty spot and Huso Merdanovic stepped up to slot home the spot kick (his 11th goal of the campaign) and also grab a share of the points with Lansvale.
The draw (Luddenham’s first of the year) has allowed Prospect and Hakoah to creep within two points of their lead at the top of the table but Montgomery isn’t worried about the performance against last-placed Lansvale. “They scored with the only chance they had all game… and we played the rest of the game in their half – it could have been 7-1,” he said. “It’s not the greatest result but we’ve got a plan that we’re working to. I do have to give it to [Gazy player] Elvis Ibric. He is a fantastic player and any coach would want him in his side.”
Gazy Lansvale 1 (Mohamad Al Rekabi 38m) Luddenham United 1 (Huso Merdanovic 91m penalty)
Reserve grade: Gazy Lansvale 1 Luddenham United 0
Hakoah nip Roosters
Hakoah downed Roosters 2-1 at Hills Sports High on Sunday afternoon to move just two points behind meet leaders Luddenham. The opening score was a calamity for the home side when a Roosters defender cleared the ball straight into the back of the head of a team-mate, the wicked ricochet slamming into the back of the net for a gut-wrenching own goal on 12-minutes.
Roosters bounced back well to nab an equaliser shortly before the interval, pouncing on a fumble from the Hakoah keeper to make it 1-1 at the break. But it was all about Hakoah in the second half and they restored their lead through young gun Moshe Wakil in the 80th minute, the 16-year-old breaking away and sliding the ball past an advancing Roosters keeper only to see his shot cannon back off the post. Fortunately team-mate Neil Jablonski was first to the ball and cut it back for Wakil to finish off his second try on goal and the eventual match-winner.
Hakoah coach Mark Robertson was pleased his premiership plans were well on track, and boosted by Luddenham’s demise at Lansvale. “Roosters played some good football but I knew if we continued to play football that our chances would come. We had 7-8 chances, Jabba should’ve had a hat-trick in all honesty,” he said. “But I’m very happy to walk away from there with a result. We’re now looking at who has to play who in the run home and we’re pretty happy about where we are right now.”
For Roosters it was their third loss in recent weeks and they have slipped from second to the top-five brink… but with three matches in hand (including a pending result against Wanderers in which they led 2-1 with 20 minutes to go, plus postponed fixtures with Belmore and Northbridge), they could potentially claim the competition lead on goal difference should they claim the catch-up trifecta.
Roosters 1 (Kerim Emik 35m) Hakoah 2 (own goal 12m Moshe Wakil 79m)
Reserve grade: Roosters 1 Hakoah 3
Springwood beat Belmore
Springwood United won a 3-2 thriller over Belmore Hercules at Blick Oval on Sunday afternoon. After a scoreless first half it took just five minutes for the game to open up in the second period, Belmore’s Kenny Michalopoulos scoring five minutes after the restart to take the lead for Belmore.
Enter Rob Haberman, who hasn’t scored for Springwood all year but made two well-timed runs into the box to bag two great goals and put his side in front 2-1 on the hour-mark. But Belmore weren’t done with yet and they had a great dig with 20 minutes to go that resulted in a 65th-minute Darrel Fernandez sizzler scorching a path into the top corner to even up the scores yet again.
Five minutes later and Springwood were at it again, some solid movement down the left seeing a neat cross sail into the path of Craig Small and he made no mistake to make it 3-2. The game fizzled out with United’s noses just in front.
It was Belmore’s 16th game in a row without a win (Gazy are on a 15 match win-less run) but it’s happy days again for Errol Warwick-Day’s mountain men. “We found it hard in the first half and we just sort of cancelled each other out. I told them [at halftime] to pick up our passing game and we played some really good football in the second half,” he said.
“We’re pretty realistic about the rest of the season, so we’re just going out there each week to have fun and play our football game, which is direct and quick attacking, and if we put that together and enjoy it a bit more the results are coming.”

Bring it on Yeah i agree, very quiet Loyalist, must have been a massive surprise not being able to push past Gazy... As for you Koutas, hurstville is currently 11 points behind luddenham on the table, i wouldn't be sounding too cocky, you might not even make the top 5 yourself, also with regards to your coach The General as you like to call him, he is probably the biggest w@nker i have come across in this division. The bloke has no idea..
