This is even more serious than Germany losing Ballack. While the Germans have the depth to cover the loss of their star player, the Ghanaians dont.
What do you think about the FourFourTwo article
Essien In Doubt To Face Roos At World Cup
?
CHELSEA midfielder Michael Essien will know within days if he has a chance of playing for Ghana in the World Cup against Australia.
Have your say.

bulldust! They will have someone up their sleeve. If a team is good enough to make it to the world cup their good enough to replace influential players.

If he is out. Then I don't see how we would be able to justify not making it through to the round of 16.

God, i know i don't call upon you in the best of times, but do the country a favour and give Essien a really bad case of the Beef Vindaloo style runs the night before the Australia game :P

Judging by the quotes from Essien, a more accurate headline would have been "Essien hopes to be fit to face Roos in World Cup". He clearly thinks he has a realistic chance of being ready.

It's a well known fact that God is Australian.
How else do you explain the Barrier Reef, our seemingly endless natural resources, and Timmy Cahill's two goals against Japan?

I don't see why Ghana are bookies favourites ahead of us. They played badly at the AC mostly and we beat them in a friendly. Sure they could maybe beat us on the day but why are they at 80-1 to win and we are at 200-1?

Ballack then Essien. Serbia's best player might have to watch his back.

The bookies are probably factoring in the likely event of African teams getting dodgy refereeing decisions in their favour. Sort of like South Korea in 2002.
