When we played Asian teams they dominated us and weren't good enough to score. Well here is America they are good enough to score and all that possesion we are giving away the useless attack we are offering, besides Chipperfield, is being shown up. Australia need to be reminded if we want anything we need to play at 110 percent and hope we get few injuries and fewer cards.

Wow, that's exactly what i was thinking.. Is there any documented evidence or is it just a hunch? He's not dating Lara Bingle is he? Because she has a thing for married Italian bonehead footballers? I somehow think that if he did have some on the side that it might be Frank Rijkaard? :-k

I'd bring on Kewell for Bresciano for the last 15 mins.
We need to start pumping crosses into the box because Hahnemann looks shocking coming out to collect it in the sun.

What are the odds we spring a surprise draw and Pim gets another "result"? You wouldn't bet against Pim's luck...

I think Chipperfield is incredibly dangerous. Cahill really looks like the only person who could've of scored. I would think Harry in for Kennedy or Garcia these guys are working hard but doing nothing.

So Fox's coverage drops out just as the US score their 3rd. Thank God for that.
That really was pathetic. Defence improved a bit in the second half but still some big holes. Midfield was ok and the attack was just shit. Kennedy was horrible, and missed a few absolute sitters.
All in all if we play like that against Germany we are going to get thrashed, and if we play like that against Ghana and Serbia we will probably go home with 1 point if any.

Perfect example of how we defended today. That 3rd goal. It doesn't matter if it's injury time how the fuck is he free just outside the 6 yard box that is fucking pathetic.
In the end the US really could have scored 5 against us with the disallowed goal(that should have been allowed) and the missed open goal.
We were extremely lucky not to be embarrassed today.

Its funny that we play defensive against Denmark and win 1-0 then we play attacking again USA and we get done 3-1. Not worried about the match, Pim will just set us out ultra defensive.

Well hey, think about it this way:
USA beat us by the same margin as they did against Spain last year - 2 goal difference. That means we're just as good as Spain. :D
Positive thinking boys.

3-1. very poor from australia. the 2 defensive midfielders need to be a lot better and we neet to retain possession much better.
so overall:
cons: poor defense kennedy didnt score when he really should have cahill was australia's only strong attacking threat gave up possession WAY too much australia didnt capitalize on silly mistakes from the usa
excuses: no excuse for poor defense no excuse for kennedy not scoring cahill being the only threat was limited to when he was on the field as bresciano had one particular shot that was good. giving up possession was a problem with both teams so it could have been the pitch
pros: ruka did fairly well, as did vidosic chipperfield was very good and was the best provider on the pitch kewell and emmo should be fit so we will be able to retain possession better and have a more lethal attack with them on the field australia wont be playing on a potato field in the future.
the surface, yes you can argue that the us had the same problems with the pitch, but their style of play is much less dependent on a fast pitch. still, the usa was far better in attack today and it could have been much worse.

I can understand Verbeek playing Grella, Moore and Bresc for that bit longer due to they lacking some match fitness, but still, you have the subs available, use them!
Heck, seeings Kewell wasn't fit enough, I would've preferred Holman on for Bresc, for those last 15 mins and Ruka and Vidosic should've come on much earlier. Infact one of the latter two on for Bresc, and THEN Holman on for Garcia.
Beauchamp and Milligan needed more of a run in these lead up matches, aswell as Ruka, seeings as those guys could be crucial options for us, when we're in need. But no, Moore's lack of fitness/match fitness (And form), along with guys like Grella and Bresc, meant we/Pim HAD to play them for the majority of all these matches, at the expense of giving our key back ups much of a run and there for much needed confidence. Imagine if Ruka had come on at 60 mins and scored not long after? Imagine the confidence he'd have, going into Germany - Where he could very well on on after 75 mins as an option in the counter attack, late in the game?
And lol, we WERE SUPPOSED to be chasing the game (I KNOW it's a friendly, but it's an opportunity to lift performance, perfect test for the fresher legs too), but Pim takes off Cahill (Fair enough move there, he's fit and did his job, showed good form with the goal), BUT he brings on ANOTHER DM in Valeri!
Should be, take off Grella, bring on Valeri for him!
Take off Cahill, bring on a guy like Ruka, Vidosic or even Holman!
Culina off, then whoever else of Ruka, Vidosic or Holman!
Garcia off, then whoever else is left of Ruka, Vidosic or Holman!
We just DRIFTED, right up till that 75-80 mins mark, NO INTENT, we were tired and slow with the ball allowing the Americans to sit back and soak up our 'forays' forward, IF you can even call them that, totally wasteful of the possession and tired Americans who were just sitting back and a less than assured Hahneman in goal, who continued to flap away at all the balls that came into his box.
We couldn't even create decent half chances.
And Kennedy's performance - Really makes you concerned now, that we lack suitable options/alternatives upfront. Kennedy needs more pressure on his place and a half fit "is he in or out?" Kewell is not going to do that. McDonald may've had trouble in our system, but when it comes down to the crunch he's a proven goal scorer and one wonders, if subbed on, what impact he could've had when we had all that possession in the second half. I recall he did alright when we played Ireland and I honestly feel we would've offered alot more, options wise, than Kennedy and Garcia combined, in that second half, especially as Kennedy was clearly tiring in those last 20 minutes or so.
I suppose in the end, it's only a friendly against a very competitive opponent and good thing too - Maybe we can take it as a wake up call, especially given the false confidence we drew from a lacklustre Danish team. Atleast this friendly was much more like it.
We are really going to need to lift our game, because the Germans, Ghanians and Serbs won't be anything like the underdone Danes or even the better prepped Yanks. Andy Harper mentioned Lahm and he scares the hell out of me - With he overlapping and providing more options for the likely possession dominant Germans (With us on the backfoot), Wilks, Moore and co are going to be under the pump there. Marko Marin and co might turn us ragged too - drawing some clumsy fouls in nice freekick positions just outside the box too.
And with Moore, despite his experience, I'm really starting to feel the taller, quicker and more agile Beauchamp may be a much preferred option, ESPECIALLY when it comes to crosses and set pieces. Moore was showed up a few times aerially, including that goal we conceded (Albeit it was a great cross and Schwarzer could've come out too).
Lol I'm probably panicking too much.

Kennedy had a shocker. Disinterested, lacked any kind of first touch or vision, just very, very poor.
Culina or Chippers MOTM for mine.
