This is more exciting

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article No Mercy In Germany's 24-0 Win?
GERMANY enjoyed an easy workout against a local amateur team in their training camp in Sudtirol yesterday, thrashing their hapless opponents 24-0.

Have your say.

Not good enough by Germany, poor performance. They were obviously trying to beat Australia's 31-0 record, which was against a FIFA member - America Samoa - in a proper competition. They couldn't even get to 31-0 in a friendly, against a bunch of rabble.

Poor show by Germany, the German fans should be calling for the players and coach's heads. Disgraceful.

Good performance by the Eppan side.

Forget the comparisons with us, what the hell is going on with the German preparation this year? Maybe the coach thinks they need a confidence booster? BIZARRE!

Maybe if we did the same thing Scott MacDonald could have broken his national duck and we might actually learn to have some confidence in attack.

How can playing a local amateur team be, in any way, helpful preparation for a World Cup? What were you thinking Germany

On a side note, someone mentioned McDonald. Maybe we should arrange a friendly with American Somoa again and he can play up front lone striker if needs be. I am sure he will break his international duck.

If he didnt??? I dont know! prob would mean 1 or 2 defenders would have a higher game goal tally than him!

Take it easy, Germany often plays against local amateurs in their preperation. DFB ( German Football Association ) wants to gain some good reputation in areas where they have their training camp.
The seven Bayern Munich players arrived yesterday as well. They need some rest. It is better for them to play an easy training match than to train hard.

And if it answers your question, in the 2002 WC we reached the finals, probably with the worst squad we have ever send to a WC. In those days the preperation started with a 19-0 ( or a similiar result ) against a young Asian side. ;)

The GK from that American Somoa team we pumped 31 - 0 has his own wikipedia page, lol. After conceding 91 goals in two WC qualification campaigns he was quoted as saying:
"Football is a game of three possibilites: win, tie and loss. For us it is a game of only one possibility: loss. We have not had the other two possibilities yet."

didnt Australia play some amatuer club just before the 2006 world cup? Think it might have even been someone like Kennedy's first game in green and gold (although it wouldnt have counted as a cap)They were mainly plumbers and builders etc. If someone else can remember by all means put down the details.

Im not sure what it is suppose to achieve but its not unusal. The germans do have a few very good players that a quite young without too much experience. Maybe they were given some practince in this match.

He wasn't quoted as saying that. The coach at the time was.

It's funny he was a ping pong player but they begged him to play for American Samoa because no one else wanted to be their keeper:lol:

Why wouldn't they just have a practice match amongst the squad? What a waste of time. Would've been nasty if a core player got taken out by a reckless tackle and injured.
