No one will know whether it is the right thing until after the USA game and the day before Germany. But if they are battling against time trying to get them right, then it doesnt look good and overall im not confident. I hope Vidosic makes it then we'll have another attacker at least.

Pim is a retarded manager who should have never been promoted from assistant.
Strange how all these sides want to give their best players until the very last minute to prove their fitness...

All this talk about smeltz scoring and how good etc etc. Let's put things into perspective, it was a friendly and Serbia made 6-7 changes whilst NZ made 1 or 2. Serbia did not play 2 of the other good defenders (can't remember their names). Serbia was playing their 2nd rate players? I follow the A-League since it's inception. It's not the best of league yet, but it's ours. I support them but you have to put things into perspective in terms of talents.

I'm also concerned about HKs fitness, but I would take him anyway, and use him off the bench when the cup is on the line. I think he could still be the difference at less than 100%, even if it is only 20 mins each game, possibly not at all against Germany if we are badly behind. Alternatively, maybe some fringe players (eg Vido, Ruka) can give us some creativity and unpredictability if given the chance.

Yes padfoot, i feel like nothing said about Harry Kewell's fitness can ever be trusted. I am his biggest fan and would dearly love him to play. But something strikes me as odd about his body and fitness, communications are always vague, followed by long silences on him, there is always delays, no one is ever sure

I get what youre saying, and I tend to agree with you. Pim thinks A-League players arent capable of performing at a high level, yet Shane Smeltz, an A-League player is scoring against the likes of Nemanja Vidic, one of the best defenders in the world.

Hopefully both have a run v USA. The game against the sheep fuckers showed how valued match fitness is.

Good to hea they are being rested. By all accounts they are coming along well and there is no point risking any damage at this stage. Provided they are able to get a run out with the USA before the cup starts it should be enough for both.
Shit i'm starting to get excited!

This ongoing groin problem for Kewell, I've got a feeling it's just an excuse to get his groin rubbed everyday by the Socceroos' and Galatasaray's undoubtedly hot female physios.

Don't mind if they miss out. People should go easy on the A-League. It's 6 years old. We will create strikers just you watch ;)

So Smeltz scores in a friendly and this means the A-league is where Pim should get all his players from? is this your logic?

Good. They will both play at ten million percent when the real deal starts and this is a chance for the lesser talents (eg everyone except Schwarzer) to get some game time and warm up a bit for when the superstar duo are ready to rock. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Roo Duo To Miss Denmark Clash? PIM Verbeek will not risk Harry Kewell or Brett Emerton for the Socceroos warm up game against Denmark but is confident they will be ready for the match against the USA.Have your say.
