Footballers in new quest

4th June 2010

FOOTBALL Queensland has kicked off a quest to help win the “world cup” against cancer, signing on as the State's largest supporter of the Call to Arms campaign.

Brisbane Roar’s Shane Stefanutto, Roary and Brisbane Roar player Ivan Franjic are supporting the Call to Arms cause.

FOOTBALL Queensland has kicked off a new quest to help win the “world cup” against men’s cancer, signing on as the State’s largest supporter of the Call to Arms campaign to raise awareness of men’s cancers and funds to fight them.

Football Queensland’s participation in Call to Arms will mean 70,000 social players aged from six to 60 are encouraged to make a small donation to the campaign – including about 6000 from Mackay.

Cancer Council Queensland’s general manager of fundraising, Gayle Evans, said Football Queensland’s Call To Arms would connect with hundreds of thousands of Queensland players.

“Through this partnership, we have scored a major goal in the fight against men’s cancers.

“By uniting in Call to Arms, Football Queensland is leading the way in demonstrating that when the going gets tough on men’s health, we can depend on each other.”

Football Queensland teams and clubs across the state will launch their push this weekend to try raising more than $70,000 for Call to Arms.
