Big chance to top the group. I can see them doing some damage here. The fact that they learnt alot from last years confeds cup and knocked off Spain and Italy and were two up against Brazil they will have learnt much.

Americans play a fast brand of football. Can that get them around an aging team like aus? yes, as we saw. But can they do it against teams like Algeria and Slovenia? i'm not sure. Just as they showed us up by playing fast attacking football I think they will be showed up against any defence with a semblance of pace or youth in there legs. We must not forget Grella was outclassed and obviously too slow as was Moore and Wilkshire is an out and out right midfeilder now. Not a goddamn right back. I'll say again a pacy and decent defence will not be exposed like that. Not to mention one that isn't so attacking minded. Chippers and Wilkshire probably spent more time in the american half then our own. Again you need pace to pull this off against a team like the US.

Agree that Wilky is a midfielder. Its where he plays in Russia. Put Culina at RB-where he played in Holland-, and that adds a bit of pace on the right side of defense, and with Emerton on the right as well thats a pacy right side. central defense is a problem with Moore.

Playing like they did yesterday they'll get through, and comfortabley

they played at such a great tempo and there strikers looked in good touch, and this is the same team that made the confed final... i was suspect but i think they'll do it easy for 2nd spot

I think everybody is putting their money on England and the U.S being #1 and #2.

However, don't be suprised if Slovenia knock one or the other out. I can't see Algeria doing it, despite them having some good players.

THe USA have more than a chance to get through if that play like that.

TBPH. I wouldn't put it past them going through first if they can sneak a draw or win against England in the first game.

Oh dear ... and then there was the friendly. USA looked pretty good up front - or we were rubbish up back. How many times did I hear Moore/Grella lost the ball, nearly caught up etc etc.

Maybe USA have a chance to get through ?

USA will finish top of the group and they will in fact beat england. why? well because i put a pineapple on it of course!!!

they're performance @ confed cup was pretty good, and I reckon they are massively underrated...besides any of the best teams in europe could lose to the czech rep on any given day esp in a friendly.

Having watched the USA vs Turkey match, (Thought it was a good match) Turkey played a someone with nothing to lose and really came at them in the first half - second half, however the USA lifted and played some excellent football and could easily have won by more. They left the ground on a high.

I'm no fan of the USA Arabella, but I think you are vastly underrating them.

As to our friendly win or lose for either side I won't be judging them on it.

I think our defense is better than Turkey's and they will struggle like Denmark to break our 4231 down. Just hoping we see some more attacking fluency now and I'll be a happy man heading into our opening match against Germany.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo blog (Probably Not A) Party In The USA?
Along with England, when the World Cup draw took place last December, the USA were probably thinking they got off quite easy.
Well, think again, my American friends. I come bearing bad news. I don't ...

Have your say.
