AT LEAST 14 people have been injured after a stampede at a pre-World Cup friendly between Nigeria and North Korea in a Johannesburg township, South Africa police have confirmed.

Hmmmmmm. not the best way to go into the cup.

Considering it was a pre-tournament friendly with free entry (ie no ticket holders) at a non-cup stadium, I dont think this will compare to the actually games at the Cup.
My thoughts go out to those injured...all the more considering how the mainstream media in this country will use this against football.

I would have thought there would have been a stampede to get out of the statdium after watching these teams play!

The game was also stopped for five minutes in the second half because a railing within the grandstand came loose.

As for the game, Nigeria were clearly better. The North Koreans are relying heavily on Jong Tae-se (born in Japan and plays for Kawasake Frontale), not a lot of talent in the rest of the team. I think they will be the worst team at the Cup.

Some nice touches from Kanu after he came on as a subsitutute. Lacking a gallop but he has still got it.
