my arse he's given it his best shot. he doesn't even chase down defenders or pressure them in any sort of way playing in the lone striker role. if you dont pressure defenders how do you expect them to slip up. you need to force errors you fool. your job isn't just to stand in front of the bloody goal and miss 10 certain goals and score 1. i dont care if kewell hasnt had match time id still pick him over kennedy. we should have gone 4-4-2 to the cup with kewell and mcdonald.

People calling for two strikers against Germany are insane. We're right to play for the draw.

Kennedy up front is, unfortunately, integral to our tactical setup. He has to be there. Kewell on to give us a 4-4-2 with little/large fast/slow combo up front with 20-25 remaining. Not worth wasting Harry against Germany if we're getting pasted. Hopefully we can unleash him for the majority of the matches against Serbia and Ghana, possibly on from the start for 55-60.
I don't think He's in quite as poor form as you guys make out, either - he always gets into good positions, for mine. Of course he has his limitations, and I think we're all aware of them.

Start Ruka up front. Germany will not have prepared for that. That extra pace might just be able to get us an early lead too.

Kennedy to start, with Kewell coming on after 55-60 Minutes to both ease him in to some competitive game time for the next 2 matches, and to allow the German defence to tire a bit and give him an advantage.
If he cant last 30-45 minutes against Germany then he's not fit for the other games either so its an appropriate test of the injury as well.

I think we need atleast 2 up front. Josh Kennedy should be off the bench as a super sub. The one up front puts a lot of pressure on our defence.

I think Kewell will be lucky to get through 30 mins. So with that in mind, I'd have him on the bench. It's far more important he plays significant minutes against Serbia and Ghana.
Kennedy's fucking hopeless - but there is no way Pim will be trying out something new in this game.

I think the manager will go with Kewell, then sub him off in the second half (unless he comes hobbling off holding his groin).

everyone seems to be forgetting the dominance kewell displayed as striker for gala in the first half of the season...but admittedly not sure how he goes as a lone striker.

skinet wrote:Kewell and Kennedy both up front-not negotiable!! If PV decides to play two up front, i'd much prefer Ruka/Kennedy and use HK in his preferred position causing havoc on the left flank. The only reason he'd play two up front is if we are chasing a game against Ghana or Serbia otherwise he will use his beloved lone striker formation.

This is insane. Between a Bloke who can barely use his feet and a bloke who has never consistently played as an out and out striker. No questioning HK's ability, he could play anywhere he wants, just seems this is a choice we shouldn't have to make. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Will Jesus Get The Nod?? JOSH Kennedy has yet to discover if Pim Verbeek will plump for his height or Harry Kewell's trickery in the lone frontman role - but knows he's given it his best shot.Have your say.
