Disappointing but knew about it for a while, they have MT for the CL now too. Dirty Yank bastards. Goes to show that we do well in far away Australia. ESPN have a history of pinching Australian-related commentators. Years ago ESPN took Mike Hill away from SBS and obvioulsy Andrew Orsatti went to ESPN a few years ago. They must like our commentating stocks here.

Orsatti was shit though... nowhere near as bad as Basher though, like i've never liked the SBS boys too much (although Simon Hill has always been brilliant) like Scott McIntyre walks around as speaks as if he's a private school prefect... no character about them or chemistry that you get with the Fox Sports lads (i.e. Bozza, Slater and Hill's chemistry with Fox Sports FC)

Yeah TWG confirmed a while ago on their Facebook that Martin Tyler would be doing some work for them.
Fuck this why not get Les commentating instead of Basheer. Would much rather listen to Les and even Foz.
Yeah how about Les and Fozzy commentating that would be pretty good imo.

Les has Alzheimers, the guys had it. Andy Paschalidis was good but that wanker Slater got him kicked off Fox Sports and they havent recovered since. Fox Sports commentary is the worst ever!!
Vitor Sobral is still learning but i dont get why the sbs commentators dont put some passion into it. Ned ZElic would be good

There's a difference between a play-by-play commentator, which Hill, Sobral, Tyler and co are, and a 'special/expert comments' commentator, which, Harper, Foster and co are. And ofcourse, generally, you get the two, play-by-play AND expert, paired together! And if they're unable to, then it's just the play-by-play guy on his own, ala Tyler often, Sobral sometimes etc...
And AGAIN, on the last TWG program of two they HAD Ned Zelic in as their guest to analyse the World Cup/Socceroos, and WHEN Les introduced him, Les POINTED OUT, that Ned and Craig would be 'something along the lines of' a key feature of their World Cup coverage, or something like that. I read that to mean that both would be amongst their group of 'Expert Comments' Commentators.

Pashcalidis was the biggest brown tongue there ever was when Slater was playing. Used to follow him around like a bad smell. The fact that he's as thick as a brick doesnt help either

Once again, I'm looking forward to Ned Zelic being amongst the expert comments team - He will bring a well informed and up to date perspective, aswell as from his cultured playing career. He, like he said on SBS, actually spent 5 years under, now Swiss coach, Ottmarr Hitzfeld, as a Dortmund player in the 90s, for instance. So when he talks, HE KNOWS. Looking forward/hoping to hear his analysis, observations, come our first match against Germany, aswell as some of the other matches in our group.
BTW I know Zelic has a air of arrogance about him, but hey that's Zelic and that's likely one of the reasons why he fell out with Farina and Okon over that Captaincy thing when Farina became NT coach back in '99, which led to Zelic prematurely, and very controversially, retiring from the NT soon after. But personally I sympathise with Zelic somewhat there as I'm sure a more pro coach, like the guys both Zelic and Okon were playing under at the time, would've handled that scenario far better to the extent that a Zelic would not have retired. Farina was no perfect man manager, as we saw with Milicevic, Kisnorbo, Bosnar and a number of others, during his 'reign.' And FTR Farina was our NT's coach far too long, post that 01 Uruguay qualifying failure, but the fact was we were in no position to suitably replace him, which reflected the very, very poor state of the game's administration, at the time.

Saying Zelic knows what he's talking about because of three seasons fifteen years ago may not be entirely accurate. But I'd rather hear what he has to say than Foster or Basheer.

Not dure if anyone has noticed, but it looks like MUSCAT will be commentating with Basheer: "So, whilst Bash beds down and continues his preparations to call the opening game between South Africa and Mexico, including meeting up with co-commentator Kevin Muscat to run through some notes, Ollie and I head to Melrose Arch, where organisers have constructed what looks to be a replica of a township football pitch." http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/dylan-rogers/blog/1007475/Meeting-with-a-legendThank christ I am going to be at Darling Harbour half pissed and hopefully the commentating will be drowned out by the crowd!
