Agreed. I was sold on how unhinged the character was on his crazy eyes alone.

Big hero 6 ia an awesoke movie . It did have a traditional marvel ending after the credits . Had great themes and explored themes of loss , death , revenge . I had to explain to my daughter but she understood as she seen me cry about losing her granddad

Went and saw The Imitation Game today. Really well made movie, enjoyed it thoroughly. The cast was excellent

Watched Nightcrawler today, Lou was fucking creepy as fuck.

Gyllenhall is probably one of, if not my favourite actor atm. Kills everything.

Recently watched The Thing again, definitely my favourite horror movie of all time. Although Aliens is up there.



Saviour of sci-fi action films. We need more of these, and less of Comic book clone #279.

Birdman is incredible, performances and direction are amazing.

Screener season is well and truly delivering at the moment.

So keen for this, next on my list.

Just watched American Sniper. Wow, talk about a character whitewash. Calls itself a bipoic, but it is barely one at all.

I didn't bother researching the guy before I saw it because I didn't want it to impact my viewing so I'm not so bothered by that tbh. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, I thought Cooper was quite good but the movie felt really rushed, particularly the last 30 or so minutes. Also Sienna Miller is still tidy but way better as a blonde IMO.

I watched Inherent Vice last night and despite looking forward to it more than any other 2014 film I wasn't expecting much due to the mixed reception it's got thus far, but I absolutely loved it. Mind you I'll have to see it again to properly wrap my head around things because it's hazy as fuck in patches but I'd put it alongside Birdman as my favourite of 2014. Unsurprisingly Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant as a stoner.

Well, maybe Robert Allenby should stop dressing like George Michael on a Golf course next time, then he wont have a Taken-type experience!

I'm one of the few people I can find that loved Battle of Five Armies. I thought it was great!

A pity that the Tolkein estate don't like what's been done with LOTR, because there's large chunks of The Silmarillion that would make an awesome series of movies.

And all his other works as well.

Shame though as I don't think people would respond well to that stuff being made into movies now after The Hobbit.

Maybe just keep Peter Jackson and Co as far away as possible from it.

Watched American Sniper.

Was good, but all the tension in certain scenes is just taken out by dumb things like calling home, fake baby, and convenience. Still enjoyed it.

Also saw Imitation Game and Theory of Everything...good movies. Seeing Birdman tomorrow.

Watched a few movies the past few nights. Here are my ratings:
Gone Girl - Really liked it but the ending shit me. 8/10 Wristies
The Inbetweeners 2 - Good movie, funny. Enjoyed it mainly because it was based in Australia. 6.5/10 Wristies
The Maze Runner - Love this type of movie but can see the sequel being better 7/10 Wristies

I watched American Sniper last night and really liked it. Knew nothing of the story or anything before seeing it, but got really drawn in and a few things really hit home for me. Something tells me it could have been done better, but I'm not unhappy with how it turned out.

The clichéd romantic love story involving the young kid and a gangster affiliate is pretty played out dont you think?

In conclusion, of the last batch of films I have seen, and this is the time of the year to catch up on films, the only film worth remembering was "Winter Sleep", the rest have been disappointments, or just did enough for me not to switch off on them, watching from the confines of my laptop

I don't fully understand the hatred of the books by guys tbh - if anything I got more "play" than usual when she read the books, it was great! :lol:

My friend, who is a complete (self-proclaimed) slutty submissive really hates the books for the way they portray the dom/sub relationship. It seems to be the common consensus of people who are into kink, it's looking at a safe and mutual lifestyle through a lens that doesn't understand it and portrays appeal in non-consentual dominance.

I dunno, I haven't read them and I'm not very acquainted with dom/sub kink (other than my general straight white cis male shitlord misogyny, of course).

I don't hate the books for the content - I hate them for the shit standard of writing.

Highly recommend the movie Whiplash. I was on the edge of my seat with some of the scenes.
